I'll be honest with you, i've never spent over $200 on my hair, like, ever. The only reason I went here was because I got a hair voucher for 60% off at an expo back in the day a few years ago. But let me tell you, it was the best haircut I have ever gotten of all the millions in my life. Upon arriving for my appointment, wow... such treatment. It was like I was a celebrity. They took my bag and showed me to the cloak/locker room where I put my belongings and then popped a robe on top of my clothes to get ready for my hair cut. Then after I was seated I was offered a complimentary drink and lemon sorbet (best service ever) I really did feel important and star like. The hairdresser was very professional and I then had a complimentary treatement with the cut right after. Oh, did I mention the chairs were really comfortable and there is music and books to read? They will even promote your business on screen in-house if you're a client of theirs... pretty good stuff! The service has definetely set Guggenheim in a class above all the other hair places I've ever been to but I'm not sure if I could afford the prices they charge for the service you get... believe me if I could I would. However, they do have specials every now and again for example, at the moment they have a $149 half head of foils, free scalp massage, style consult and blowdry which is pretty good value for the service you get so it can be affordable or it can be that special treat you give yourself every now and again. I came through Guggenheim in 2011 while using taking advantage of deals vouchers on the hunt for a new regular hairdresser. My experience didn't involve the "star treatment", sadly. They do have a cute, unique setup as far as the locker room goes, but I sure didn't feel valued, or even particularly visible - and I never got the famed sorbet (if I knew to expect it, I may have even asked for it). I almost had to fight the stylist to get her to cut my fringe as short as I wanted it. Despite the multitude of reward cards handed over at the end of my visit, I wasn't inclined to return, or to pass said reward cards on to friends (as suggested). Finally, the thing that confirmed I'd make my review two stars instead of three - the amount of topless women in the gallery section of the website. Blech. read more

I just had a bad experience Monday with this salon, they said leave it over the weekend to see how you feel which I did and I'm still upset. I spent $199 on my hair for a colour that is dull and not at all what I was after. I even did the miles of taking in photos the day before I made the appointment to make sure they could acomplish what I wanted, I than took the photos with me as well to the appointment. They ran 4 toners through my hair to try and 'fix' it and 3.5 hours later still unhappy. I called back today to inform them I was unhappy, they offered to put another colour through my hair but not that they were able to get what I wanted. I asked for a refund, they don't give refunds but prefer to fix - surely they can understand that I have no faith in their salon if they couldn't do it first time around or after the four toners why would they now be able to fix. I'm so upset that I spent money on this salon for nothing, $200 isn't exactly milk money! read more

I received absolutely wonderful service from one of the junior stylists. She was delightful and chatty and did a fantastic job with my hair. Unfortunately I have to agree with an earlier review on the salon regarding the manager. She was incredibly rude, both to me and to the stylists. Instead of leaving the salon feeling happy with my haircut (which was great), I left feeling uncomfortable and angry. To repeat Jennifer S. below - "The junior stylists although lovely could not take away the bitter taste left behind by the rude, obnoxious manager." Worst service ever. Rude, arrogant and so completely and incredibly over-priced. Angelo - guys who answers the phone/owner - complete ASSHOLE. He is in the wrong industry. I was in there for 4.5 hours! Just for a colour and trim!! So called star treatment and 'best' salon in Brisbane - it is most definitely NOT. Do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs. I wasn't even offered their so called complementary "refreshing sorbet" as part of their experience. Might as well have been in a third rate suburban salon. WILL NEVER GO BACK. Probably the worst hairdressers I have ever been to. The owner is arrogant. He is charging ridiculous prices based on a reputation that no longer exists. His business is clearly struggling and his staff stated they have asked him to reduce prices. You can get a lot more for that kind of money nowadays. I asked for foils but they would only do low lights as I refused to pay on top of my voucher $195 for toner and treatment on long hair. This salon is a joke - I came here to have hair extensions placed in my hair for a wedding and within hours of walking out of the salon, they started falling out! 6 in total! I arrived back the next morning and the Manager said that the girl who put them in didn't clamp them tight enough. They put the six back in my hair and re-tightened the others. That night I attended the wedding and another 5 or so more had come out! Needless to say within the week more than half of the extensions I had purchased to the value of $375 had fallen out!! I have been getting extensions in my hair for over a year and a half and this has never happened to me before. This company is either using cheap extensions and the owner is making a killing or they just don't know how to place them in correctly. PLEASE take my advice and never get your extensions done at this salon! They rate themselves as "High End" but they are anything but from it. I go to a suburban hair salon back in Sydney for my hair extensions and they charge half the price this guy is charging and my extensions never fall out! Not only do they not know how to do hair extensions but the Owner of this salon - ANGELO is the rudest man I have come across. He would not offer me a refund or any compensation for all the extensions that had fallen out, better still he told me to go to a salon in Sydney and have them fix my hair???!!! They also charged me $106 for a style/haircut which I did not receive but they trimmed the hair off the bottom of my extensions (time spent approx. 30 seconds) - JOKE! I too decided to take advantage of a voucher offer to try out Guggenheim. I have always considered these offers a way for business to get a first timer through the door and hopefully win them over as a returning customer. Not likely, I was told that they could not give me a semi colour (which is what I always have) unless I paid an extra $79 to have my grey roots covered. I said I was happy with just the semi but they insisted it could not be done. At this point I lost the most important thing you look for in a hairdresser "TRUST" I had my fringe trimmed and left. As a business I would condsider them disingenuous and would not return and I'm happy to share my experience with friends and family. read more

When I first arrived, I wasn't sure if the hairdresser was closed, as there was a big white stand in front of the door. When I walked into the empty salon, two women were chatting behind the counter ignoring me for 1-2 minutes. When they finally decided to grace me with their attention, i got given a robe and locked my stuff away. What proceeded was a a colour and cut, which all up took 3.5 hours - what a nightmare! longest appointment ever. and even though i had a voucher, which did specify that extra length will cost more, they tried to make me pay an extra $140, the voucher was for $349. They insisted i MUST have toner, even though i've never in my life had to have toner for the highlights i get. I did accept the quote they finally gave me, but then they proceeded to charge me $20 extra, which i never authorised, $20 over the quote they gave me. When I realised the next day, i called the salon and spoke to ANGELO who said he'd speak to the manager and get back to me. A week later, noone had gotten back to me!!! so i called again, and he answered again, no apology for never calling me back.. he then basically said there is NO WAY the system would charge me more than what was quoted.. while he rudely insisted i was a liar and pretty much hung up on me. Lesson learnt - if a salon is advertising through daily deals, clearly they don't have customers and are desperate.. and it's clear WHY they don't have customers. DO NOT GO HERE....WORST SALON EVER! Used my living social voucher for the "ultimate experience" (which was only half head of foils, cut and finish)...I began reading the shit scamming reviews of this place about 24hrs before my booked appointment and was sketched out but still went.... bad move....I brought in my voucher.... ..already noting that nothing about toner was mentioned in the fine print however was then quoted $98 for toner and long hair (1 inch below my shoulder ) therefore quite easily doubling the cost of my voucher. The Manager, round greasy Italian dude, told me Living Social was suppose to call me about the toner cost....which they didn't. ....then told me I could "pay it" or leave! He's a dick! I told him he was getting bad reviews on TripAdvisor and he said he didn't care... great customer service skills buddy! Hair turned out fine.....Katy the hairdresser was nice but overall bad experience! I most happily threw out their business card and $20 discount voucher for my next visit on the way out the door .....THEY SUCK! read more

My experience in Guggenheim was very bad. Just before my holiday to Thailand I went there to get a haircut and half a head foils($199). I was quite happy with foils...But Haircut is terrible. Left side is shorter than right. She did the same job as you can get in cheap salons (sheep salon). How are they qualified hairdressers as they 19-20 year old girls. Do they have enough experience??? They believe that they can do right haircut on blow dried hair. I don't think so. Any time I had that kind of haircut I was always upset. Wait for two month and then again look for another hair salon. Also, she was working all day since 9am I was booked for 4.30 pm. She was already tired. Her approach to me was just to get rid if me as quickly as possible and don't seem to care about the quality. She has no sense of style even I shown her few photos I've printed from website. Should I ask for refund???? I don't think they can fix haircut. Anyway I'm flying for my holiday tomorrow and,maybe, I fix my haircut there. Hopefully I'll like it. read more

My partner left the salon crying (on her birthday)! The owner/manager Angelo is the rudest store owner i have ever experienced. I bought my partner a $99 Scoopon for her birthday. We were told she would be quoted for any additional costs. The quote was not given and she was asked to pay and extra $100 after the appointment. When discussing the issue with the manager, he admitted that his stylist did not quote my partner and when i contested this he threatened both of us with legal action just before hanging up on me! I called back, to continue the discussion and to work out a solution, learnt that (unfortunately) my girlfriend had already paid and was told "if it was my girlfriend i wouldnt have worried about the costs on her birthday." Um, thats not the point mate! My girlfriend then called me in tears saying that the owner/manager had spoken down to her, threatened her with legal action and belittled her in the salon. For a business that claims to have world class service all we have experienced is a world class rudeness/impoliteness/rip off. -100/10 would never recommend Guggenheim to anyone. read more

This is THE worst salon I have EVER been to, and I've been to a lot. My first experience saw the stylist chop literally 5 inches of my hair off after I told her I was growing my hair for a wedding and the one thing she couldn't do was to cut much off. She told me because she cut it wet she didn't realize how short she cut it (WTF?). On my second visit, 2 days before the aforementioned wedding I was a bridesmaid for, I left with a bright orange coloured hair part (wasn't supposed to be like that) so I had to go in again the next day to have it 'fixed'. When I did I this time left with chunks of dark mahogany in front sections of my hair and also the beginning of my part. In the end I had to go to ANOTHER hair dresser to have my hair fixed, properly, and as a result my hair is now extremely damaged after spending a total of 10 hours over 3 days in hair salons. The Manager still wont call be back after I rang to make a complaint which makes me even angrier- do the right thing people c'mon. In addition, this salon charges REDICULOUS prices. Which ordinarily I'd be happy to pay if they were good! $250 for ONE block colour, NO cut??!! I'm clearly not the only person who feels this way because they are very obviously struggling at the moment. Here's a thought Guggenheim.. How bout you stop relying on the reputation you USED to have and get yourself some stylists who can justify you asking the prices you do, or/and.. drop your rediculous prices. No one else in the city charges anywhere near what you do. read more
