The adventures of lighting my hair on fire (Not literally, silly)
I decided I wanted to dye my hair the colour of flame. Not an easy achievement. I have tried at two hairdressers previously but they didn't do it bright enough. I finally said enough was enough and decided to take the bull by the horns (or the firetruck by the wheel, ba-doom-tiss) and dye my own hair.
I went to Hairhouse Warehouse and was browsing the colours in a confusion of choice when the assistant (who had conveniently fire engine red hair) came to my rescue (not on a fire truck, unfortunately). She recommended the products, showed me colour charts and told me how to do it. It came to $60 for all of the gear (that was two dyes, one bleach, one peroxide, two brushes, four hairclips, two mixing bowls and a partridge in a pear tree) which was $200 less than my most recent quote to dye my hair the colours I wanted. When I left the store I was feeling super pleased, though a little nervous. That night I got all my gear together and started dying my hair. It took a while, as I was using a few different colours. FYI: it is remarkedly hard to dye the roots at the back of your hair, if you're aiming for even coverage. But the colours came out super awesome fantastic so I am a complete conversion and will definitely be repeating my experiment. read more
