Unfortunately, Pastor Ben is confused by the definition of repent. Comparing scripture to scripture, God repented most in the Bible (more than 30 times) and we can all agree that God is sinless. So repent often means to change one's mind. See Psalm 106: 40-45 for just one example.
This 18 minute video explains repentance in a scriptural way: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=I9BxhSt5Ct4
Repenting of sins to be saved is a work and is an attack on the grace that Jesus did for us on the Cross and diminishes his shed blood that saves us. The phrase 'repent to be saved' isn't found in my KJV. The word repent isn't found in John (the salvation gospel).
Of course, once we are saved we are to confess our sins to Jesus and obey his commandments if we love him. But that doesn't save us. Rather it gets us blessings.
Salvation is a one time event because it's a gift and God can't be a liar and take it back. Titus 1:2 .But the first step is to be saved by clear scriptures such as: John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23, Rom 10:9, Rom 10:13, Acts 16:30-31
I know there are some saved people at Guide Church that make the Bible their authority for truth and not repent of sin to be saved or
truth and not repent of sin to be saved or Calvinist doctrines. But get saved today the Bible way to Heaven if you aren't 100% sure. Web search: Abiding Word Baptist Church Pastor Theo Matthews (9 minute video embedded there).
Guide has sound Salvation scripture at its website. But apparently Pastor Ben's Bible has some unsound verses when he's at the pulpit. Some example teachings :
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him (as evidenced by whoever transforms others around them because Romans 4:5 is wrong) should not perish, but have everlasting life. -John 3:16
...Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (and feel super sorry for your sins and clean up your life) and thou shall be saved. -Acts 16:30-31.
Who will have ALL men (that are unconditionally elected by God said heretic John Calvin) to be saved, and to come onto the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:4.
Verses are read correctly at Guide although some folk have ESV, some NKJV, some NIV, but my examples are mixing in the doctrines taught that contradict the Word. And the doctrines taught should always be consistent with the Word of God. read more
