We were not notified of the incident at the time that it happened. Rather, my wife was told that there was an incident report when she went to pick up our child that day. She was simply told that our child was "bit." We assumed this meant just once. (He had been bitten once in the past). Later that day, my wife was astonished to find four separate and deep bite marks on him. I am posting pictures with this review. When we asked his teacher what happened, she claimed that the children were lining up to go outside and another child bit him. This made no sense. Surely the teacher would have noticed my child crying in pain after bite 1 or 2 (or even 3) in order to intervene and stop the remaining bites had anyone been paying any attention to my child. The next day, I went into the office of the director, Laura Licea, to bring the matter to her attention. Astonishingly, she did not seem to know what happened. I told her about my discussion with the teacher and told her that I could only conclude that my child was not being watched if he was bit four times in one day. Laura claimed she would investigate the matter to learn what happened. I saw her numerous times over the next two weeks, and she pretended like nothing ever happened and never followed up with me. Our child only remained there over the next two weeks or so because we were looking for a new daycare to transition him to. Once we found one, we withdrew him sometime in June 2023. On or around June 13, 2023, I received a call from Sarah Odell with Little Sunshine's corporate office. Sarah was inquiring as to why we were withdrawing our son from Little Sunshine's. I asked her if she was aware of the bites. She stated that she was not. I then informed her what happened and sent her photos of the bites at her request. I was candid with her that we were withdrawing our child regardless of what happened, but that I would appreciate someone following up with me as to how my child was permitted to be bitten four times in one day. Sarah was adamant she would get in touch with Laura and follow up with me; she never did. The only conclusion that I can draw is that this place is ran horribly both on the local and corporate level. Ever since we withdrew our child, I have regretted not posting this review. I am doing so now after reading a news article on 11alive.com, dated January 15, 2025, which reports that a toddler at Little Sunshine's has died after choking on a piece of fruit in the daycare. I can't help but think, had I posted this review at the time the events happened to my child then maybe I could have dissuaded at least some parents from enrolling their children into this daycare, and quite possibly the parents of this poor child. I express my sincere condolences to that family.

We drive 35-45 minutes each day (and anyone who knows about GA traffic knows that's no small thing), but it is absolutely worth it. From the administrative team to the teachers--and even staff from other classrooms--the level of care and love shown to the children is phenomenal. As a first-time mom, I am so grateful to have found a school like this. My son is in the Transition class (three-year-olds), and his teacher, Ms. Taylor, is nothing short of amazing. She is sweet, kind, patient, and incredibly attentive. You can genuinely feel how much she loves and cares for my son every time I drop him off and pick him up. She is always communicative, open to suggestions, and consistently offers thoughtful feedback and guidance. It truly feels like we are part of a village, working together as a team. The warmth extends far beyond the classroom. Ms. Vicky, Ms. Pam, and Ms. Doris are all incredibly kind, nurturing, and loving. They greet my son with so much care each day, and it speaks volumes that every morning he stops to give everyone a hug. That alone tells me how safe, loved, and comfortable he feels at school. There are also days when I come to pick him up and he doesn't want to leave and that says everything. Knowing that my child is happy, engaged, and genuinely enjoys being there brings me so much peace as a parent. The hospitality from the administrative staff each morning and afternoon is just as incredible. Ms. Erica brings such positive, welcoming energy that it honestly makes you want to stay a little longer after drop-off. Ms. Hope is a director who truly leads by example--she isn't hidden away in an office. She is present, visible, engaging with parents, walking through classrooms, and supporting staff hands-on. You can see her involvement daily, not just during meetings or special moments. What truly sets CLA Milton apart is the openness and communication. Any time there is a concern, everyone is willing to have conversations and address things head-on. It is such a family-oriented environment, and that level of support is priceless. This review honestly doesn't even do the school justice. It's something you truly have to experience. I am so grateful that I stumbled upon CLA Milton, and I cannot wait for our family to continue growing here for years to come. Family, if you're looking for a school, this is it. Schedule a visit and you'll be so happy you did. It's truly one of the best decisions you can make for your child. - Hall & Fall Family

I would strongly discourage anyone from sending their child to Sunbrook Academy. I apologize for…read morethe long review but want other parents to be warned and understand our experience so that they can make an informed decision about where they send their children, especially infants. While our son only attended the school for a total of 8 hours, it has been nothing but less than favorable interactions from the initial drop off. When my husband and I arrived to drop our son off, the assistant director was on what sounded like a personal telephone call discussing another parent complaining about her. After waiting there for 5 minutes, she got off the phone, and did not know who we were or why we were there. We explained it was our son's first day and we were there to drop off. She walked us to our son's classroom where we met his teacher. Walking into the room, there was a single teacher getting bottles ready while 5 infants sat on the other side of the gate area, several of which were whining/crying. Most of the lights were off and the room is crowded and dark. The teacher said hello to me and my husband and asked me about our son's feeding/sleeping routine. We asked if we could help set him up in the room, which they allowed. At no point during this interaction did anyone say hello or welcome our son. We ultimately left him in the room playing with toys while the teacher continued to get the other children their food. Not once did we see her, or anyone, acknowledge our son before leaving. It was so discomforting that both my husband and I considered walking back into the room and taking our son home right then. I reported this to the director that morning around 10:00am. She apologized for the experience, explained it was an off morning and that she would talk with the assistant director as well as the teacher. When we picked up our son at 11:30am, he was exhausted, and had clearly been crying a lot. Upon our son's return to school, the second drop off was better. The following week, our son attended his third and final day at school. When I returned to pick up my son, the school director, Michelle, was also in the room and the teacher was holding my son sleeping. They informed me that my son had hurt himself while crawling, resulting in a bloody lip and scratched nose. On my car ride home, I called the school and asked to speak with Michelle director about what had occurred so that I could understand better. Beth, the assistant director, explained that Michelle was on a tour so I asked that she give me a call back after the tour. After two days and five telephone calls/voicemails, I finally was able to get in touch with the school director. At no point did anyone return my phone call or call to see why my son was absent after an incident at the school. The incident itself was not an issue, as I know babies will get hurt as they learn to crawl and walk but it was how the school handled things following the incident that was the problem. Sunbrook Academy advertises itself as a safe and nurturing place for your baby to receive loving care and learning experiences. The Infant Care Program is committed to making the first transition away from home natural and easy for both child and parent. Our experience was anything but that. After several weeks of back and forth with the regional director or Cadence, I was finally able to review the video of the incident involving my son. It was as described but the whole ordeal left me very disappointed in the school and how they care for children. I unfortunately have heard more horror stories about this school over the last few weeks and had I known any of this prior to enrolling our son, I would never have let him attend this school.

As a teacher myself, I appreciate the emphasis they put on education, as he has learned more than I could have ever imagined. The entire staff is constantly going above and beyond each and every week to make learning a BLAST. It is super apparent that creating a fun learning environment is a high priority. A few other things to note is their top notch communication efforts. We are always in the know about every thing! As well as the diversity, which can be hard to find in this area. I love that my son gets to celebrate our traditions while also learning about cultures different than his. Lastly, my son is HIGH ENERGY and can be a lot at times. I explained to Goddard management that the other school was 5 min from my house, less expensive, and most importantly had a 5 day spot available. I asked if I could at least get some of my money back given the circumstances. They refused to give me back ANY of the $1700 deposit despite the fact that they only had it for less than 48 business hours. My child never even visited the school. They claimed that I could have taken a spot from someone else. I paid them Thursday afternoon and informed them Monday morning about my change of plans. If someone visited Friday who wanted that spot, am I really supposed to believe they couldn't have contacted them immediately on Monday to let them know about an opening? I reached out again and was told they never filled the spot. So if you couldn't fill that spot anyway, why couldn't I get even half of my money back? It's not like we took someone else's spot (according to them anyway). The school we ended up joining didn't require any deposit to secure my spot, and the owner purposely enrolls less students than the GA requirement to provide a better and more nurturing environment. My son has about 13 kids in his class vs. the 20+ children in the Goddard class. It's clear that the owner is all about money and posting on social media. I am so happy we found a better place for my child.

On March 16, we received an email stating that our son had been experiencing significant behavioral challenges "over the past several months," including safety and hygiene concerns, and that we should seek an alternative placement. This was the first time we had ever been informed of concerns of this magnitude. If a school truly believes a child is struggling behaviorally or may need additional support, parents should be informed early and consistently, not for the first time in a single email recommending removal. After requesting documentation multiple times, the school was only able to provide one minor incident report (throwing a toy) and routine app logs, with no formal records reflecting the ongoing pattern of serious concerns that had been described. We fully understand that not every classroom is the right fit for every child. However, if there were genuine concerns regarding our child's behavior or development, those should have been clearly communicated and documented well before recommending that he leave the program. The lack of communication, documentation, and partnership with parents in this situation was extremely disappointing. We have since moved our son to another daycare where communication has been much more proactive and collaborative.
