I can see why Guier Fence has such a low rating and so many number 1s. I guess since you can't give a zero a one is the lowest you can give the company. I can tell you I am not at all pleased with the company. When I look at a company, I judge them on customer service. Any company should place customer service as their number one priority. It's clear Guier Fence is not among those, so let me explain why I feel this way. I called Guier Fence a few times and left messages that I wanted to get an estimate for a fence. I left a message with Matt who after two weeks never returned a call, when I called last week and spoke with the person who answered the phone, I explain that Matt had not returned my call, that it had been over a week. In hindsight I have to admit I loved his answer, we are really busy, oh so busy in 10 days you can't return a call to a customer, says a lot about customer service, right? He assured me that Matt would call me Monday or Tuesday of this week, no surprise still no call. Matt must be related to the owner; I would never hire or keep an employee who treats customers this way. It seems profits are more important then customers. Sad, really sad. read more

My house in Kansas City was built in 1870, and it has NEVER had a fence for an enclosed backyard ... at least not as far back as anyone can remember. The property is on a corner next to a busy arterial street, so I thought a privacy fence would be perfect for better enjoying the backyard. Meanwhile I wanted the fence to built so as not to disturb the existing trees. It took me more than a year to find someone to take on this unusual fence project. Thankfully Guier Fence accepted the task. They built an "old frame louvered" fence. It looks the same from both sides, is beautiful, and provides almost 100% privacy. The only drawback is that it needs a bit more maintenance as it has recesses where leaves can collect and cause the wood to deteriorate. But for the beauty, I think it's worth it. When the project first started, I didn't know what kind of fence type I needed. They sent Valerie (apparently an executive), the sales rep, the fence builder, and the fence builder's assistant (4 people) out on the first day to show me the different kinds of designs and help me choose the right one. I believe that was on Monday. It took them about 3 days to build the project, so they finished up on Thursday. They worked with Rosehill Gardens to make sure the fence worked with the landscaping plan. Tuesday through Thursday I was only working with the fence builder and his assistant. Both were very responsive .... for example, when I noticed that some boards were not placed in the orientation I wanted, they quickly took the boards and redid it. I'm so thankful for how nice it turned out. It totally transformed our backyard. I had a special fence stain I wanted to use, so I had to hire someone else to stain it. If you are curious about the fence stain you see in the pictures, it is Olympic MAXIMUM Tintable White and Base 1 Solid Exterior Stain (10 Year Protection) - DEEP CHARCOAL (solid stain) available at Lowe's. Fantastic job! I had to wait 4 weeks to get my fence in, but SO worth the wait! The guys did a great job, they even went over the fence line with me a few times to make sure it was exactly the way i wanted it. One side of the yard had a hill on it and the fence follows perfectly along the hill. I had black chain link fence put in with three gates. I highly recommend Guier Fence. read more

We had a fence replaced by Guier and the installers damaged my sprinkler system in 3 places causing several hundred dollars in damage. It wasn't accidental, they knew where the lines were and because it was an inconvenience to be careful the proceeded to smash the pipes. I was shocked to find out after the damage was caused they reburied the lines, left, and said it was my problem. Buyer beware, their contract does say any damage they cause is your responsibility - if they do damage to your property they won't do the right thing and fix it. I would strongly encourage anyone considering Guier to look elsewhere to a company that understands customer service and will be careful with your property. My fence ended up being much more expensive than expected. Very disappointed. read more

Horrible service and attitude. Talked with them about replacing a gate and fencing over the phone and they said they would get back to us. After 1 week I called back and was told unless our repairs would be $1200 or more, they are not interested. The lady was about as uncaring and is part of the sales prevention team. We bought a metal fence around 10 years ago from Guier Fence and had them installed it for us. Everything seemed fine until the section of fence on the north side of our yard started leaning about 4-5 years ago. Couldn't understand why just the fence on the north side leaned and not the rest until I discovered that the reason for the fence leaning on that side is because the installers did not set the posts on that side of the yard in concrete. Since we knew we were going to have to pay to get it fixed because too much time had passed we just lived with it, but I finally got tired of not being able to open the gate on that side so I called Guier Fence to give us an estimate on fixing the fence. My call was sent to the repair person's voice mail so I left a message. Never heard back. Called again a few days later and left another message. Never got a reply on that one either. After leaving a third message and not getting a response I gave up. read more

I would recommend avoiding this company. Had terrible customer service when calling for a fence repair and the representative was downright rude. After I was finally able to speak to a manager (Corey), who did come out and apologized, he measured and never came back to do the job. Called their office to speak to him and was never called back. Waited well over 6 weeks to get the crew out here. Delays due to employees having personal issues. Had one gate installed the the workmanship was so poor that I cancelled the whole job. Sharp screws poking through, which caught my daughters hand. Over sized hinges and uneven looking. I was very disappointed with the entire experience. read more

I was initially skeptical after reading the two reviews on yelp because the reputation of Guier for as long as I can remember has been outstanding. With that in mind I recently used them for some repair work and couldn't be happier! The owner, Valerie, is very friendly, professional, and all around great to work with. She even helped me acquire some railroad ties for a shooting range project I'm working on. It seems like only those with bad experiences are quick to post reviews versus all the great ones. The customer service I received was worse than poor. It took double the time quoted to receive a date for my fence installation and only happened after I called to check on it. I am confident that I would still be waiting on it, had I not called. The communication from Dan was non-existent. After the completion of my fence I found multiple problems including a warped post, left tree limbs, unfilled post holes, and a section of fence that was not completely nailed in. When I was finally able to get someone on the phone, to voice my concerns for the second time, I felt as though I was an inconvenience and that my concerns were unimportant. read more

We are thrilled with our new fence from Guier. We wanted a vinyl fence that didn't look like shiny plastic and more closely resembled wood. It wasn't easy to find. Guier was willing to source it out with a manufacturer and order it for us. Upon installation, the crew noticed that some of the panels were not up to par. They installed it so that we would have a finished fence, but told me they would be back after they contacted the manufacturer about replacing the faulty panels. They were persistent on our behalf, wanting us to get the quality that we were paying for. They came back with replacement panels and the fence looks spectacular. read more

D for customer service-estimate changed from phone to initial appointment and of course it was more expensive. Crew finished two weeks late. Worst part was I, the customer, had to call every single time to find out when the crew was coming, where the crew was at, and reschedule when the crew didn't show up. Also, broke my sprinkler system and didn't give specific information on where. Lastly, broke my underground dog fence which didn't matter but it took almost a week to finish the job once it started-without letting me know. Loved chasing my dogs around the neighborhood. Extremely disappointed because there are a lot of fence companies out there but the reputation of Guier was the best. Not building a house, it's just a fence. No way in hell I can recommend this company to any of my neighbors. Not planning on using this company ever again. Still not completely finished but I don't expect anybody to show up in the future. Guier Fence replaced my backyard fence approximately 5 years ago and did a great job. I called Guier Fence about a month ago for another gate on another side of my property. Andrew came out from Guier, gave me an estimate and scheduled it for March 21st between 9:00-9;30 that morning. I I could not leave a message due to his box being full I called the office and the lady that mornam a hospice RN and had to see a patient but I attempted to call Andrew on his cell phone and founding said she would "send Andrew an email". I went and saw a couple more patients but frequently drove past my home to see if Guier had arrived which they had not. Around 3 pm I contacted another lady at Guier Fence to inquire on where Andrew was. She informed me Andrew was no longer with Guier and someone else was "supposed to work me in" today. I informed the receptionist I was not happy and would of liked to be informed of the lag in their service prior to the day it was supposed to happen. She said she was "sending emails out" regarding my situation as I wanted to cancel the gate due to their disregard for this situation. Soon after I received a phone call from the man who was "working me in". He said "Do you wanna talk about your gate?" I informed him "NO!" Guier's motto should be "It just DOESN'T make sense to get a Guier fence!!" Yes, I added "doesn't" in their stupid motto they sing about on TV. This company has gone downhill in my book! Disaster from the beginning. When they arrived they did not have the right product for our job and product was missing. Installer did not put chain link fence were it was marked because he did not want to deal with the power lines, posts were cut down to be the right size and were cut crooked, tops do not fit, fencing is VERY loose and 6 inches in some places above the ground. Very poor quality - cheaper than the cheapest - definitely not what we ordered or what the salesman told us we would be getting. Gates are crooked, won't close correctly, no locking latches. NOTHING is right with this fence and we cannot get anyone to respond to our calls to come out and fix it. Worst fence company ever. They do not care about the quality of their work or customer satisfaction! This is one job they will not be paid for. They need to come get it, it's embarrassing to have in my yard! read more

My husband and I were very excited to have our new fence installed so that we could have a nice area for our dogs to play. We had very prompt service to begin with, but that soon faded. The fence installation was several weeks after their estimated date and they installed the fence on our neighbors property line. Our neighbors had a third-party independent person come and survey the property line and found out that guier installed the fence approx.one and a half feet on our neighbors property line. After about 4 weeks of waiting for them to come fix it they still have not come out. Their customer service is horrific and they never return any of our phone calls. I have written the company two hand written letters with no response and i am confident that after they fix this last blender I refuse to give them another dime. We were looking at installing a deck but there is absolutely no way we will use this company. read more

I was in search of getting a fence installed in my back yard and called a few places. Guier Fence contacted me right away when I told them I was interested in getting a fence and set up a meeting time. I thought, "how great, they are quick to respond and will do a great job". Not the case. Once I signed up for a date (which was supposed to be a month later) and did a down payment I never heard back from them. I had to call and call and call until FINALLY 3 months later they called me back. I asked when my fence would be started and the gentleman I spoke to said I was on the waiting list for another month. That month came and went. So I decided to call and make a complaint. I have two dogs and I needed a backyard for them and it had been 4-5 months. Finally, they started on my fence. The workmanship was horribly poor- I wish I cancelled and went with another company. There are over-sized hinges which are uneven, the gate is crooked, the fence doesn't even reach the ground- so on top of everything else- there is a large hole underneath which my dogs can get out. I have tried to call and get that fixed, which low and behold, has taken another 3 months and is still not corrected. Save your money and time. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!! read more
