Walked in at opening. Only one Associate on the floor in Audio. I asked for a trade-in eval on a nothing special used 6 string I was looking to move along. I was shopping for a new Taylor or maybe a higher-end Martin for recording. Never saw a floor Associate. Two teens in the acoustic room were playing chop rhythms on out of tune guitars. I couldn't hear to evaluate my own selections over their sad jam session. I was low-balled on the trade-in, of course, and expected it. I'm not a kid. I'm a working music producer. I could have bought anything in their "top end" room. I could have bought EVERYTHING in that room. I walked out with my trade-in instead after feeling quite invisible. Notes to Management: no helpful salespersons equals no sales, and a customer with gray hair just might have a green wallet. And your business is selling guitars? Your loss. read more

I tried to give this store one last go, came in the store today and after being there almost an hour finally got someone to help me. Then they couldn't find the case for the guitar I wanted so I left my number so they could call me back once found. Mind you this is after an hour and 20 minutes of being at the store. Day goes by, no call back from the store, no message saying the case found. Out of curiosity called the store after I went home for the day, called, and case found. I was 15 minutes from the store all day until now. I don't get the guitar I want and GC doesn't get the sale again. Once again, the service that keeps me going elsewhere is still there. Going to spend my money at Sweetwater today because GC just cannot get it together. read more

Big fan of Guitar Center! Hilariously I've only been inside a few times in my life, mainly when the location was at the 83rd Cicero in Burbank many years ago. This store is outstanding none the less! The staff here is really knowledgeable and aren't trying to scam you at all. They know the customers pretty well too. They have all assortments of guitars, ukes', synths, pianos, DJ, equipment, duct tape and so much more! Parking is easy to deal with, located with a great variety of places in the strip mall too. Prices may be steep on many things but it's part of the guitaring hobby. read more

Leo in the sound department gets it done! I had above and beyond assistance from him after purchasing an IRIG Stream from the department earlier in the day. I ran into some trouble trying to get it up and running when I got home. Despite not having much experience with the specific equipment he was able to not only get my equipment running for my specific needs but also able to help me understand how to do it myself as well as answer any further questions with stellar customer service. He handled my situation with unbridled dedication and even postponed his lunch break until he was done. He was high spirited, experienced, and knowledgeable. I felt like this man was an angel the way he sat down and figured a solution to my problem. I even offered to bring him lunch on me after for how thankful I was for his above and beyond dedication and service. Leo gets it done! During my 2 visits to the store I felt the entire sound department as a whole was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Would highly recommend this location after my experience today. I made a trip down here with the intent of leaving with an $800-$1200 guitar. They had one young woman doing everything (front counter and trying to stock inventory at the same time) and there didn't seem to be anyone else to help the customers. Tried asking for help from others who appeared to be working there, but they were weird and snotty. The acoustic guitar section is set up in such a way that you really need someone to help you get instruments down and can't tell what's hanging up at the top levels-- it's not self service unless you're happy to play with the guitars that are in reach and not worth locking up. I did find a guitar I really liked, but in the end I just wanted to forget the bad energy of the people working there and left with nothing. If you want to be left completely alone to try out the cheaper instruments as long as you like, this is the place for you. read more

I recently visited this location looking for advice regarding buying a new amp. The team was very helpful and provided me the advice I needed. I couldn't buy the item that same day but came back the next day. This time I brought my kids since it wasn't a school day and luckily everyone was still super helpful. They understood the kids were not as patient and helped me out with them while I made some final choices. They made sure the kids stayed calm during the entire process and checked up on us throughout the entire sale. At the end they even helped me load the new gear to the car. I totally would recommend this store to anyone and the staff at this location. So far I am loving my new guitar and amp. I am very happy with my purchase. read more

Now I have a gig i need to be practicing for and I can't get my board because I'm not spending a penny until they give me my money back! I'm pissed. This place is great. All employees are knowledgeable and friendly. My son is taking DJ lessons and my daughter is taking piano lessons. They have a very flexible schedule. I got to pick the days and times not like other places. The instructors know their stuff. The store manager is very nice. We also got discounts on equipment for taking lessons. We signed up for the auto pay and got other specials. read more

Use to go here a lot when they were further south along Cicero Ave, back in the day when I wanted to be a rockstar. As you can probably tell it didn't work out...lol Depending on what you want and looking for prices are all over the place, but you can find some good deals. The staff are pretty helpful as well. Would have to say that if you are going to go to one of the big chain places for gear than I would suggest this one. The only draw back, howwever, is that its located just north of 75th street on Cicero and there always seems to be conjestion in that area. read more

Do your homework on price, especially parents, before you walk thru GC's door. Their 1st price is never as good as their last price. Not happy w/ the price a sales person is giving you - ask the sales person to "take the deal to the store General Manager!" The sales staff at CG is there to make AS MUCH MONEY ON YOU as possible - a bit of a monetary pirate attitude! If you are eBay friendly - checkout seller prices. I've gotten great deals on guitars, drum sets, cymbals and hardware from many eBay sellers Like Geartree, Dale's Drum Shop, Music 123 and others. FYI - if you run into Musicians Friend catalogs and or their auctions on eBay - keep top of mind that GC owns Musicians friend!! read more

Customer service was terrible. I'm a traveling DJ looking for a smaller controller. Was there when the doors opened and was asking the woman for suggestions and information. Stumbled across the Denon Mc 4000 dj controller, it was in the box and not in display. I asked if I could see it (if it had xlr' etc, weight, etc), and the saleswoman said no! She said she didn't want to open the box. I asked how could I see if it's a good fit? The others were all in display... If I wanted to just guess I would by on line! That is terrible! I usually get decent service at this store, but it's really difficult to demo the equipment with all the young kids camped out most times I go there - I know this is a common issue at these places, but I was in the market for a new guitar and wanted to try a couple out - Unfortunately, there were 2 guys in the Acoustic Room today basically jamming so loudly that I couldn't hear my own playing - These guys also re-tuned several guitars and were banging on the shell as if the thing was a drum! Of course they were using the expensive Martins for this... I waited over a half-hour for them to move on but they never did, so I left - The staff doesn't seem to care that the non-paying kids are misusing the equipment and distracting paying customers, so I'll look elsewhere next time - I was also disappointed with how few decent guitars were in stock here... I suppose that I should just buy online and return whatever I don't like (even if it takes a dozen returns)! read more

What you would expect for a major chain, but not nearly as nice as other guitar center locations.. Don't have any high end guitars which is a minus, but that may have something to do with the surrounding area. The staff is nice. Surrounding area is the pits. read more

Moving to .012 strings on my Les Paul, I needed nut cut and a truss rod adjustment. I stood at the unattended repair desk for 30 minutes with my guitar in hand before a sales agent asked what I needed. I responded, "Nothing...I'll take it in to Player's Guitars." and walked out. Sales reps were all over the floor doing nothing...except goofing on their cell phones. If you don't take care of the customer...somebody else will. Sales reps will spend more time hustling their 5 year extended pro coverage on a crappy $100 Squier electric than they do greeting customers in need of help. read more
