I signed up for introductory guitar lesson about 2 weeks ahead of time. Guitar Center sent me multiple emails welcoming me and reminding me that I was on the "RSVP List". When I arrived it was a huge disappointment. No one knew I was coming, and there was no class. Big waste of time and very unprofessional way to treat a customer. At the Guitar Center 971 N Hwy 67 #500, Cedar Hill, TX 75104, I stopped by to become more familiar with a keyboard. I have purchased 3 keyboards in the past 2 years. I have always stopped by a Guitar Center location to examine & play the type of keyboard I wanted to buy BEFORE I would make a purchase. At this location in Cedar Hills, on March 18, 2023 (when I bought a keyboard-speaker cord) I stopped by to examine a particular keyboard I had my eye on. I wanted to play it and become familiar with it to make sure it performed with sounds that I like BEFORE I would make a purchase - as with other the keyboards I have purchased from the Guitar Center. Upon doing so, 2 staff members told me: "IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE A PURCHASE ON THIS KEYBOARD YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THE STORE BECAUSE IT'S BEEN A LITTLE LONGER THAN 15. WE GENERALLY GIVE A PERSON 15 MINUTES TO PLAY AND CHECK OUT A KEYBOARD" - as told to me Mr. RAZZ, the General Manager. Well this is not what I have been informed by the corporate office. A 15 minute limit is NOT POLICY. How in the world would a person - especially a professional musician such as myself who was the keyboardist & House band director at AMEATURE NIGHT the APOLLO THEATER in NYC, become familiar with the functions of keyboard brand I have never played on nor owned to know its' functions and vast amounts of sounds in 15 minutes? This is my grievance. I had stopped by a day or two prior to March 18, 2023 and a Pastor of a church like my playing and asked my opinion about said keyboard. I told him I found it to be good but that I was still getting acquainted with it and it's functions. He said that he liked the one sound I was examining so much that he bought it. I did not seek a commission on the transaction. That was not on my mind. I was asked a question and I gave an answer. I still wanted to know what said keyboard could do by its' functions. Being asked to leave the store was extremely discourteous. The volume level I used was not loud. Someone else came toward said keyboard and i said to them: "Have a seat and check out this keyboard". I was not being selfish nor disrespectful to anyone. Kicking out a customer and a potential customer who only has 15 minutes to examine an instrument is not the policy authorized by the corporate office of the Guitar Center. The GENERAL MANAGER. MR. RAZZ, apparently is rogue in his business practices. When an unmonitored self-implied practiced employee runs a store in the manner that the manager want to operate it and voids ALL guideline from the corporate office bad business practices develops. To enforce ANY "POLICY" a sign MUST be posted in public view. Just as certain McDonald's location have it posted "30 MINUTES TO CONSUME YOUR FOOD". Supermarkets have it posted: "EXPRESS LANE 10 ITMES (or 15 items OR LESS). Without such signage NO POLICY AN BE ENFORCED. Enforcing such a policy about the "15 MINUTE TO TRY AN INSTRUMENT OR LEAVE OUR STORE" is FULLY illegal and violate each person's CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT OF DUE PROCESS because no sign is posted. This would then be a cause for a lawsuit of which the customer easily ALWAYS win. A FEDERAL VIOLATION OF "DUE PROCESS". This is why speed limits ALSO read SPEED LIMIT MONITORE BY RADAR. Without letting drivers know that their speed is being monitored each driver that gets a tickets can sue AND will AWLAYS win. Store even have it posted" SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS or THIS STORE IS UNDER SURVEILANCE CAMERAS. They MUST post that YOU are being watched. I purchased a Cordoba on FB market place that needed a little TLC, and they all pointed me in the right direction with the help I needed. Not only were they all kind and knowledgeable, but they went out of their way to look and try different parts specific to my guitar. I ordered a gig bag on Saturday the June 26th. I was told it would be 3-4 business days to ship to the store. Thursday August 1st(4th business day) rolls around and they now say it'll be July 7th until it arrives. Had I have known that it would be 8 business days, I would've went to another location to purchase the item. I was planning on taking my guitar out of town today but looks like the dishonesty of GC is not going to let that happen. read more

So i go shopping online for some new studio monitors and chose to get some used good condition krk rp8s. I waited about a week to get them shipped to this GC just so i wont have any problems...A week passes i go pick them up at the store, go home and open the boxes. Come to find out they gave me some cracked krk G3sss. Its funny because i saw these g3s being sold as a single unit but the picture i seen were g4s as a pair. So they just gave me some random damaged speakers they were trying to get rid of because they know no one wants damaged speakers. I call them back and tell them "ya gave me the wrong monitors" they are just like "come back and we will take care of you." In my mind i was like you were suppose to take care of me when i was there, no one bothered to check the pair to see if these were the ones i bought. I go back to the store explained to them what happened and they were trying to give me some excuse that the person who added the product to the website made a mistake and entered the wrong information. But the information and the picture said it was the krk rp8s so i don't know how anyone could be confused because it literally says it on the back what version it is. Then they said oh sometimes people in the warehouse don't know what they are doing they just get what they think is what you wanted and ship it out. So now they are changing their story trying to come up with something just so they wont have any fault. They also said this isn't the first time this has happened...Anyways they called the place where the monitors came from..another GC, and they tell them what happened. At first they said they couldn't do anything for me and they were about to give me my money back, but they found the product i was buying on the website and they ordered them for me with NEXT DAY AIR SHIPPING! I was like ok as long as ya fix this im a customer that will keep coming back. I think it was the manager that was talking to me thorough all this, i tell him can ya check these monitors and make sure they are the right ones when they come in? Hes like yeah i got you ill even call you when they come in. He also tells me that i missed the window for them to ship, it was already like 4 or 5 oclock so i will receive them monday because it was a friday. Then he tells me actually it they might come in on tuesday but if not for sure wednesday...SOoooo are ya even shipping them next day air? I told myself in my mind. I left the store and waited almost a week for the pair to come in. I go back to the store when they got there and had some different people working, no one called me either i had to check the tracking email they sent me. I tell them im there to pick up the monitors and the guy in the register goes and gets them. He come back with one box and give me a receipt while we were walking out, i told him what is this i ddnt order this. Hes like oh hold up i gave you the wrong paper work, i had to tell him i came to pick up some studio monitors. So he goes back to the computer re looks at my order, and thankfully a worker was there from the last time i came a remembered what happened to me last time hes like is this the only box? This box looks to small to hold two monitors. He checks it which they were suppose to already have done before i got there and yup only one monitor in there, so he tells the guy in the register to go see if there was another box in the back. He goes back and yup finds my other monitor. Im like wow good thing i looked at the paper work because i would of gone home with one speaker. So i go home open up that other box and it was damaged, the right pair but i ordered a good condition pair...At this point im like come on, again! I email this time so management knows whats going on. They give me a call back say they will try to figure something out. They said i can go drive all the way back to the store and return them and they will help me out trying to get a new pair...But the thing is the pair i got were the only ones they had that were used and in good condition so i knew they couldn't do nothing for me but to just give me my money back. I was suppose to go back and return them but i got tired of going back there so im just keeping them till they read this and hopefully they give me a new pair. And its funny because if they really really wanted to help, they would stop wasting my time and send ups or fedex to come to my place to return them, and of course i threw away the packaging already, just some simple boxes though... why do i need to go back to the store when they already know what i want. So to add all this up i wasted 2 whole hours driving back and forth to this guitar center and im still not happy. To top it off its been a few weeks and they are still trying to sell some g3s but in the title it says g4s, on the website so now i know that this wasn't a mistake and they are just trying to trick someone into getting the busted pair i originally got. read more

I had an incredible experience at this location. The team was súper profesional and customer service was amazing. Braedon was a super star. He was patient, very knowledgeable and very helpful to me as a newer guitar enthusiast. I bought a guitar from him and he even put new strings on it even though store was close by the time I finally made the decision to buy guitar. The manager asked me how I was doing several times during my 2 hour experience. Another sales guy also provided great customer service. I really felt like this guys loved what they do and that they cared about me and making sure I left totally satisfied. I have been to other guitar centers and this one was by far the best experience. I've visited this location twice in the past week. I work in Irving and I usually go to the Lewisville location, where I get great service but I live locally so I decided to give this location a try. The first time, I spent about an hour reviewing different near-field monitors, and the second time I did the same, because I needed flat monitors for a training project that I am working on. Both times no one greeted me, or even asked if I needed any help. There was a group of GC employees behind the counter socializing, so it wasn't like there were existing customers that they were helping. I love GC as a company, as will continue to make purchases online and in the Lewisville location, but this location needs an intervention. read more

Wow. I've read through so many poor reviews of this store I felt obligated to at least share my own experience. I ordered a guitar that I found on reverb that was sitting in a GC store in Colorado (if memory serves). I read the reviews on the Cedar Hill store and was a little nervous about the whole thing, but did it anyway. The guitar was delivered to the store in a timely fashion, exactly as described. I went down to the store, played that guitar and several others, talked with the employee at the counter for a while (very helpful), as well as the guy working in the acoustic instruments room (also very helpful and nice), and I got a great feeling about the whole transaction. All in all I was probably in the store for an hour, and felt good the entire time. I believe that it was a Friday night a few months ago that I actually was there, just now leaving a review. read more

The customer service at the Cedar Hill store is horrible. Not sure if it's because I'm a woman or if everyone is treated this poorly. Every time I'm in the store It's a struggle to get someone to assist you. They're too busy standing around talking to each other. There's way too many other options in DFW to put up with this level of service. I'm done. read more

It is time to revise the review for this place! I had the worse experience ever out of these people and their Customer service has pretty much tanked! These Employees at this place can not keep their story straight with you. It is really bad to treat a customer and not be straight up when that customer just spent close to $2,000 in the store and usually a return customer. My experience with these people not able to keep their story straight and being veg just earn them a couple less stars. My advice is Do not ever order anything that you have to put in Layaway that is coming from another one of their stores. They tried to screw us out of a guitar we had on layaway. Thank god for paper work. I am strategic about keeping proof of purchase but I don't like how they Layaway something from another store and they will not give you the balance of what is left and their lazy excuse is because it does not come out of their store you don't get a balance? Who the hell runs a business like that? I do not care if you got the item from a store at another store across Dallas you do not just give money in faith and not have a balance what is left. Cedar Hill did not make the effort to put a balance down yet use a lazy excuse because it came from the other store! Ridiculous! We purchase two guitars that were a lot alike One was Special and the other a Pro. One was higher price then the other and they tried to hide behind the fact that the guitar already got picked up and cover up the other. I know exactly what store the Pro Guitar was coming from and call them up my self to ask what is going on with the guitar and why had it not made it to the Cedar Hill Store and they went and investigated and got the same B.S. Run around from Cedar Hill. They got a hold of my husband who is the one who was getting the pro and pretty much got the mad part of him that guitar better show up at their store cause we are personally going to come and pick it up the next day. I brought all the paper work at hand. It turns out Cedar Hill did nothing! They never forward the money to Central Dallas and never did the paper work to have the guitar sent over to Cedar Hill after we fully paid for it! A Big FU Cedar Hill We will not be doing business like this anymore for now on if the item is not in their store they are not getting our business. For now on we will do the leg work when we really want something and find out it is at another store we will drive there and deal with those people directly which sucks. It was cool to have a Guitar Center on the SouthWest side of the town but at this point what good does it do when the people can not run the business right and make it convenient to purchase things close to home.
