The manager Josh is a liar or just purely incompetent. I purchased a Used Charvel Pro Mod San Dimas Guitar and had it shipped to my home in California. Upon arriving, I noticed the bottom of box soaked. After opening the box up, I noticed the inside of box is soaked from top inside to bottom inside. Bubble wrap and guitar were covered in an oily substance. Neck got ruined from getting wet. Manager Josh states it would be impossible for the shipping department to have spilled any substance on the guitar and packing materials. Well then explain how inside of box is soaked but not the outside, leading me to believe whoever wrapped the guitar spilled something and kept on wrapping it up. See photos of box. read more

I went to Guitar Center in Daytona for my birthday. My wife knew I wanted a new guitar, and told me to pick out what I wanted. I'm not proficient as it's just a hobby, but I've always liked Ovation guitars and saw a used electric-acoustic one for sale. We went to the front desk and didn't wait even 30 seconds before one of the clerks greeted us with a warm smile. He then answered a few questions and let me check out the guitar without any pressure. No updates, no silly offers for professional guitar care kits, straps, etc. He surprised me when he told me that the guitar came with a case! Albeit an older, beat-up one, but I was ecstatic about it, regardless. Anyway, the transaction went smoothly. We had an enjoyable discussion about music and guitars; the staff were very welcoming and professional - not just to us, but everyone. It was an enjoyable shopping experience and I'd totally make the drive to purchase from again. read more

I spent two hours there playing and trying guitars from $500 to thousands-Martins, Taylor's , Alvarez , Yamaha , etc. I was hoping to go home w a guitar. Sales people very nice and what an inventory ; but sad to report the guitars -everyone of them - horrible action ! Action terrible past 4 th fret. The tech was out sick so basically I'd have to go home w guitar and use my own tech! May as well order one online. However after 67 years as a guitarist I never have yet bought a guitar online. That's why I drove to Daytona: to not buy a guitar online. Plus the guitars were filthy --literally layers of dirt---I realize there are hundreds of guitars to maintain but if customers are willing to spend a couple of grand then guitars should be ready to play and playable. Very disappointing--thankfully I found instrument online for less so I'll use my own tech. The instruments are top tier so I suggest a 2nd tech and never hang a guitar right out the box. I ordered a Yamaha LL16D from this store. They sent me a Yamaha LL16. Big difference in price. I called store, a guy took my name and number and said he would have Mgr call me as the mgr was out to lunch. Well 2.5 hrs later still no call. So I called him, I felt like he could care less. Im ticked off because I wasted my time, tied up my credit because they are ignorant. The thing is that this isnt the first time I have ordered from GC and received wrong item. All because they have no clue what they are taking in or they are hoping the buyer doesnt notice so they can make descent money on an item. Either way, I think I am done. I would have kept the guitar had he offered me a discount but one other team member stated "we do not negotiate prices". So I am thinking they know what they are doing, deceiving.... read more

My experience with Dave the guitar tech was excellent! He took the time to address my repair needs and restore my faith in people.

I spoke with Michael to cancel my sons lessons, which were usually cut short yet being charged for a full session. He informed me that they would not reimburse me for the lessons that my son had yet to receive as it was the company policy to not give refunds on lessons. I asked to speak to a manager and was hung up on, when I called back he said the manager was out sick and would call me upon his return the next day, it has been a week and still I have not received a call from anyone. After paying for twelve lessons and only receiving four not complete lessons I will never be able to hear their name mentioned without having my blood pressure rise. read more

I brought in a bass guitar for re-stringing. It took 30 minutes to find a "pricing sheet" to even take on the work (also- it was the store manager whom I dealt with on my first encounter). I was told it would be ready in "5 minutes". I returned an hour or so later and was told it wasn't done. I returned again an hour later and was told it was ready. Upon arrival at my session that afternoon, none of the strings were anywhere near in tune, and the D string wouldn't raise above C before it broke. When I called, I was informed that the technician thought there was something wrong with the D string tuner as he broke 2 strings prior to returning it to me. None of this was brought to my attention when I picked it up. To their credit, I was comped replacement strings, but I was not refunded for the stringing, causing a heated argument with the manager who hung up on me. When I went to put the strings on the same guitar, I noticed that both the D and G strings were mounted backward. Making this worse, they are Sperzel locking tuners which are bulletproof, but apparently not incompetent proof. I have also asked for an email address to discuss this with corporate management, but I have never received a reply from my inquiry. Frankly, based on other reviews and conversations I've had, I'm not surprised. I feel like they didn't care about me or any of the customers in the store as most employees were wandering aimlessly while customers were waiting in line. The lack of communication and concern for a valuable instrument was simply inexcusable. I will never do business with this or any Guitar Center again based on my experience. read more

I am a professional singer guitar player and have been doing this for 12 years and I have never run into an issue like I ran into today with guitar center in Daytona beach Florida. First I called them and I asked them if they are able to send someone to help me next-door because my EV 5.0 stack is not functioning correctly. They say no which is fine and I end up taking it in. I did notice that this gentleman's tone on the phone was very harsh. I brushed it off and entered guitar center. I asked this gentleman if I'm able to get my things repaired that I purchased from guitar Center in Atlanta and he said no. No other explanation but no. I brushed it off and I asked him. can I rent from you guys he said no, no other explanation but no, I asked him for his name he said no no other explanation but no as I'm writing this I'm trying not to say things that are off-topic about this man's appearance, but he shouldn't be working at guitar center. This man's name is Aaron. I know this because I remember from when I called . he is a short man about 5 foot five and he wears glasses, brown hair and a little bit of a beard very short beard. Any guitar center that I have ever gone into looks me up and helps me right away with anything that I need anything at all. He had no urgency to make my situation better. This might be the worst location in the world because I have been to all 50 states performing and 17 different countries, performing. My thing was any city or state that I go to I make sure I go to the guitar center in every single state and country. Aaron went out of his way to be an asshole and I ended up walking out because his customer service was so terrible. I literally have been in a situation where I had an Oscars performance, and a gentleman from guitar center (because that is the only place that I will shop for my guitar equipment and gear) he came out to Vanity Fair where the Oscars was being held. Replaced my equipment because something was not right with my microphone cord and he left because I thought that that's what guitar center stood for now I understand that they could not make it to the gig to help me, but I went in like they asked me to, and they still didn't help me, Daytona Beach guitar center is the worst location I have ever been to in my entire career and I need that to be clear and I wish nothing but horrible things for this branch in the future. Thank you ARRON. By the way, I was greeted by a young man who was very nice and very willing to help and then when he asked Aaron a question all things went downhill . What is this? A guitar center for ants? This place is like a guitar center sampler. It's tiny with a very small selection. The good stuff all has to be ordered. If I wanted to order something, I'll just do it from home. I want to try stuff and buy it right then if it's good, that's why I go to the store.. beyond the size and selection, the staff is in your face about what you're looking at, but have little experience about the stuff. We stopped by to pick up this Fender Mustang short scale base to have something to play while holed up during Hurricane Dorian. Appears this Daytona GC has bit the dust. It was better and more professional a couple years back. Now it appears they have young inexperienced staff that have no glue of the music industry and unable to offer any help or info. As an experienced guitarist/musician,I would be cautious from any opinion of Sales and Guitar Tech at this store. . If taking guitar lesson I would ask the teacher for his/her education background in music and /or teaching. Hopefully this store will start improving customer service again soon. read more

Went in yesterday, retiring soon looking for an acoustic since its been decades since I last played regularly. Was only person in store for first 30 minutes then one other during last 15 minutes. Not one person asked me if I needed help and half of the acoustics are unreachable. The employees here should walk across the street to Bass Pro to learn about customer service. read more

Absolutely a horrible experience at this store. Every time I go. The staff is very inexperienced, none musicians. They are very disrespectful. The last time I went the followed an older woman around the store harassing her about her mask and how it was being worn. Same thing happened to me. Do you enjoy the pressures of shopping for a used car? Me neither. Aaron, the customer service manager, seemed to be more interested in typing at his computer than actually serving the line of customers at the counter. When he eventually decided to assist me (I knew exactly what I wanted, so I didn't need much though it still took almost an hour) he tried to upsell me on the instrument I had selected, and the stand that went with it. Then he tried to upsell me on a warranty. Then he quarreled with my unwillingness to provide a phone number. Aaron took the idea of forcing your customers to say no multiple times to an extreme; if a customer comes to your business and wants to spend several hundred dollars, trying to squeeze them for more is simply disrespectful. It is also a fantastic way to ensure they shop elsewhere next time. read more

Don't go looking to get a good deal on your trade. Was told I would get 60% of what they could get for the guitar wrong.The guitar was brand new in the box never opened.I won it. It was a guitar center exclusive listed for 200.00 on sell for 168.00 which they could've still got beings it was brand new but you know what they said it's used bet a dollar it didnt go on the floor as used and sure i could of refused the offer but I didn't want the guitar and thought seeings i was buying a guitar they would work me out a better deal seeings the guitar i was getting was cheaper I even took the one on display rather then them getting a new one so the one i received was actually used. As a professional musician, I've been in my share of Guitar Center locations. This is a newer store and while not a mega size version it's a good example of the chain with a good selection of gear presented well, and generally a good staff that will improve as they weed out the hipster types in favor of the knowledgeable staff members. Prices are fair, there are various scheduled things going on and it's not as loud as other locations can get. However, it's in the wrong place. Parking at Daytona One is stupidly bad for a retail outlet. I'll be amazed if any of these businesses besides the theater, PF Changs, and Bass Pro Shops, all of which have large parking lots butted up against them, get past the first year. read more

This store is the best! Great selection of acoustic guitars. Everybody in the store is very polite and helpful. The store manager Alex Martinez is worth his weight in gold. He went to extreme lengths to take care of all our needs with the new guitar we purchased. We had a small problem with the guitar and Alex was right on it and fixed it for us. No fake promises of customer service here, they fully stand behind their products. They gave us excellent customer service with a smile and a happy, glad to help you attitude. I was so disappointed in this place. I went in for some Bass effects pedals and there was not a one in the store. I was not impressed with the selection of basses, all low to mid price range for the exception of one fender Jazz. I always go to total entertainment but they were closed so I figured I would take a shot. At least I know now what they have. read more
