My husband and I are big fan's of guitar center, but this location just isn't it. It's quite small so everything felt extremely cramped and it was difficult to find what we were looking for. Many of the smaller items were in the wrong place and there were no price tags so we had no idea how much anything was. Staff were not very friendly, no one offered to help us look for anything and they weren't particularly chatty when checking out. Don't anticipate coming back any time soon. read more

I stopped into your store on a Saturday to sign up for guitar lessons. The store seemed busy. Needless to say, I was totally ignored, so I left. I decided to stop by on a Tuesday afternoon for information on signing up for guitar lessons. There were only a few people in the store. Several employees were working on tuning a guitar. Again I was totally ignored, nobody even acknowledged my presence. So now I am looking elsewhere for lessons. Very poor customer service. When I called about my concerns, the manager told me keep in mind we are very low staffed. I understand that, but a pleasant, I will be with you in a moment, would have been the polite thing to do. I brought a bass in to have its pickups and controls repaired. I told this to the staff there. It appeared that they didn't know how to write the order up. So when the girl asked if I'd like a premium setup, I said yes. I figured that I'd pay a little extra for the setup (which it really didn't need), but that I'd get the electronic issues taken care of. I was told that the Center's technician would call me on this. He never did. The only call I got was from someone telling me that the guitar was ready. I made the mistake of not checking the bass when I picked it up. Whe I got it home, it appeared that nothing was done to it! If a setup was done, it was not noticeable. The electronics were still in disrepair. I've decided to eat the expense and move on. Do not use this Guitar Center location. The staff needs a course in courtesy, customer service, and listening. My impression of this place was that it is run by a bunch of kids who are not at all concerned about their professionalism. read more

It is reprehensible to sell a 16 year old girl, with dreams of learning to play, a guitar for $500 and a case for $200, and not mention that it must be carefully humidity controlled or it will warp to the point of being unplayable. I purchased a used guitar online and although it was what I was looking for, at a reasonable price, and the shipping was fast, I was somewhat disappointed that there were paint spatters all over it. Seriously disappointed -- I went to the Ft Collins store on Saturday to buy a new guitar. The in-store selection was limited. So I order a new Martin - over $4000. The sales guy said he would have it expedited and he knew the folks in the warehouse and it would ship by end of day on Saturday. So - I check on Sunday ... (1) it never shipped on Saturday and (2) it is shipping FedEx Economy Ground (which means up to 8-10 days). Pretty lousy customer service ... but it gets worse ... I did a chat session yesterday and was disconnected ... so then I sent GC an email ... but never got a response. I sent another email today and no response. So I (stupidly) do live chat again -- and Shielamar T hung up on me (after I waited in a queue for 10-15 minutes). I am beyond angry -- truly the shittiest customer service I have seen in many many years ... As a professional musician in Colorado now for 30 years, I can unequivocally state that the Guitar Center in Ft. Collins, CO is the.........WORST!!!!!! What a joke. They NEVER have inventory, the inventory they do have is dated. This GC literally has an entire room dedicated to old broken light poles, busted speakers, cables and parts of things that don't go to anything. It's a broken item storage room that's open to the public. PLEASE do yourselves a favor musicians.....DO NOT go to the Guitar Center in Ft. Collins. Until GC corporate can step in and fix the myriad of problems from check-out, to inventory, to the lack of knowledge about any music related issue, go anywhere else (in short, raze this place to the ground and start over). Even in an emergency find someplace else, anyplace else. I have absolutely no stock or stake in the game, not affiliated or beholden but try the Music-Go-Round on College Ave by Harvard St......just one of a few music stores in Ft. I placed 3 orders. 1) first was a guitar (acoustic traveler guitar) 2) akai force professional 3) 506 acoustic drums this was a set of expensive purchases. i have called 2 times to get information about an akai keyboard which i want to purchase. i leave messages nobody calls me back. I then found a new sales agent that said they would send me their email. nothing. i was asking for connectivity issue with my new purchases. I asked them to lookup my purchase history so i would not be seen as just blowing smoke about a purchase. I have not had any callbacks. 2 weeks. So i am moving on. Staff are great, I buy strings here. If you're looking for an acoustic guitar, go somewhere else. I've never bought a guitar here and never will, but if you manage to find a guitar that isn't cracked, get a humidifier as well and don't open the case for a couple weeks except to refill the humidifier. It's riskier to buy an acoustic guitar here than craigslist, make sure you know what to look for. If you buy an acoustic here and it cracks within a few weeks, unless you leaned it against a furnace the entire time the guitar was under stress from being dried out in the store and was going to crack or warp without significant intervention. read more

Drove 30 mins to this location to buy some genuine fender pick guard screws. Website said they were in stock. When I showed up they had all the parts in a brown box instead of hanging on shelf. I went to exchange them for something better, because he didn't like the look and these guys wouldn't exchange. Box had never been opened, used or anything. I've decided to edit a previous review I wrote because the owner Kenneth T. immediately reached out to me after I went on a rant in my first review which I apologize for. I hope this new review, although still negative, is a more accurate reflection of why I'm frustrated with your store and company sir. I've been shopping with Guitar Center for decades and I've been lucky to have been to several of the stores around the country. In 2016 I moved to Loveland and Fort Collins became my local store. From my first visits even back then I was sad to see the store lacked the vibe I was used to when I walked into other stores, but I still played a few guitars, checked out amps and eventually bought my strings and left. On more than one occasion I remember thinking "sh*t, not a single person even acknowledged me in there, wtf!?!". On one occasion recently I needed a mic so I called to verify if they had it in stock before I drove to the store. A salesperson told me it was in stock and to ask for him when I got there. When I got to the store someone else ended up helping me and tried to sell me an obviously open box item. I was actually being pressured. I declined and asked one be ordered for me as I needed it soon. I was told there was one at nearby store and they send it right to my house. What was shipped was, you guessed it, another open box mic from a different store. So now I had to drive back to the FC store to return this one and for some reason it that took three people and almost an hour for them to process the return. I remember leaving that day thinking how frustrating the whole thing was and I still didn't have my f'ing microphone! On my most recent visit I grabbed four sets of strings on sale at $9.99 but I guess the sale ended and was asked to pay more, when I pointed out the posted sale price the salesperson asked "so do you still want them?". I verbally reluctantly paid the non-advertised price for them and the salesperson let me leave without so much as a thank you for the purchase or an apology for the fact that I paid more than the advertised price. So after years of being a loyal customer I decided that's the last penny this company will ever get from me. To summarize my negative experiences at this location have been; Rarely has anyone actually greeted me when I've visited your store; Even more rarely has anyone asked if they can help me or shown me even the slightest appreciation for me coming in; getting poor customer service when I have made in store purchases and even worse service when I've had to return a purchase here; unenthusiastic staff that makes me want to order online instead of at the store. I'm done giving my business to an ungrateful order taker that has done nothing to actually earn my business only later to have to call a real sales professionals at your 1-800, outsourced, overseas customer service line. But at least when I call the 1-800 line someone actually greets me when I call, gets me what I need, appreciates my time and says thank you for my business and hang on...a friendly goodbye at the end of the transaction. Wow...what a concept...maybe you should have your staff call the 1-800 line and see what real customer service sounds like. I drove almost an hour to buy a expensive Ukulele with a pick up. We were looking at them in the quiet acoustics room and in comes a group of guys who start a jam session and recording it. And I can't hear myself strumming the ukes any more. Or even think. So we bring them out front where it's slightly less loud and complain about the jam session still going on. They suggest we come back (instead of asking the guys who came in later) and the girl who waited on me was clueless about ukuleles, nobody there could help us make a choice and there was no quiet place for us to play and choose. So we chose to leave. So, if the manager bothers to read this, I was looking at the most expensive uke you have there, you have lost a sale and a customer. Let me add to that. The girl who "waited" on us knew we had driven a long way for the purpose of trying and listening to the good selection of ukulele there. She was the one who suggested we leave and come back another time! On our way out the door I told her we didn't buy anything because we couldn't hear anything and suggested she tell her manager. She was apologetic enough, but still did nothing to help us except sent us away. The guys who were playing in the jam session kept saying they could never afford the expensive guitars they were playing with, but I had cash in my pocket to buy your best uke. This was a special purchase to celebrate a significant birthday. Guess not! Thanks for your quick response to my review, I have sent this information to the email address you gave. UPDATE: Well, I sent my email in to the email address in the response below. I got an email back from a real person who said the manager of the store would call me. The manager of the store did call and talk to me four or five days later and agreed that more training was necessary with his staff. He offered to make an appointment with me with the best salesman he has, and offered a discount on the uke I was looking at. I'm still trying to decide if I want to risk going there again. Time and time again I've tried to guitar center and time and time again they have let me down as well as their sister company musicians friend where I was charged almost $100 to return a guitar that I did not likeThe guitar center is like any other big box guitar store I've ever been to, dishonesty, used items that obviously have not been checked out before they've been taken in, and the savings (that's a joke) passed on to the customer. when you try to trade anything in they offer you sometimes less than half of what you paid for it even if you bought it from them. there are plenty of other very good guitar stores in the area that will gladly treat you like you matter My latest experience was in January When I was buying a new acoustic guitar when I was buying a new acoustic guitar. My question was are there any coupons I can use towards the purchase of this guitar it was after Christmas and I thought there must be something or some discount that could be offered to me. The answer was no we're sorry there are no coupons right now And none coming up over the next few weeks so I purchased the guitar only to see sale after coupon after sale 2 to 3 weeks later emailed. It was available in two colors for separate prices and he helped me out with the lower of the two when he could have just as easily said no. Much appreciated. I'm no virtuoso, I pluck around. I was buying a gift of a guitar for my SO and the way everything was laid out was easy enough for me. The guitars are clean and in tune and it makes picking something out and comparing easy. I threw shade on Ft Collins store a few years ago, but had a great experience today. I saw a small used combo bass amp on their store site, so I drove up from Longmont today. I was looking all over at the bass combo amps and was so bummed I didn't see it. I looked around at other departments and Travis asked if I needed help. I told him about the amp and he was enthusiastic to find it..sure enough, it was accidentally marked as a brand new unit on price tag (hmmm a li'l shady) I often complain when I see cheap used gear marked higher than reasonable at Guitar Centers, but they do have overhead, and guys like Travis who reminds me they will back up their used gear. So I'm happy I finally got a good price on used gear there and great service from Travis. read more

I was perching a guitar from a buddy, they wouldn't do an appraisal, even though I was going to buy EVERYTHING ELSE for the guitar there. told me he would give me a price it ONLY if I sold it to them... I just wanted to know If I was getting a good price or getting screwed, and get stuff to clean it up and make it play nice... I brought in a Gibson 339 semi hollow body guitar for a set up and new strings. I told the person who checked me in that the A string had a fret buzz. When I picked up the guitar it still had the same fret buzz. I told the technician that worked on it that it still had the fret buzz. He adjusted one of the knobs and handed it back to me. Still had fret buzz. I knew at that point that he wasn't going to fix the problem or didn't know how. I did some research online and found the strings should be adjusted to .09 at the 12th fret. I made this adjustment and fixed the fret buzz problem. I'm pretty certain I was charged $50.00 for just a new set of strings and that they did not perform a setup. Needless to say, I do not recommend the Ft. Collins Guitar Center. My experience is a good indication what the rest of their customer service is like at this location. read more

Today I went to the Guitar Center to buy something. I was greeted when I walked in. I was looking for something but couldn't find it. I went to the counter where an employee was involved in a conversation with someone who had just returned something. The conversation was not about the return or a new purchase. I stood there. The employee did not acknowledge my existence. He continued with his conversation. I went to another employee and asked if he had what I was looking for. He said he wasn't sure and would check for me. I went beck to the department and waited. I waited. I waited. Now I was in the store a little less than 15 minutes with no help. I started to leave and when I got to the door I was asked if I wanted the employee to check on the item. Too late. I work in retail and we are constantly told customer service is number one. If you're not taking care of someone, help them. Stop what you're doing. If you're with someone acknowledge the other customer and let them know you'll be with them shortly. Maybe it was because I'm an old man. I went home and ordered it from Amazon. read more

Actually NO STARS! Horrible experience! I had a problem with the P pick-up on my PJ bass guitar and took it to Guitar Center (GC) Fort Collins to have it looked at and repaired on 7/1/18. Of note, I purchased the bass on 5/22/18 from GC Fort Collins and added the 2-year Pro Coverage protection plan. One week went by (7/8/18) after dropping it off at GC. I called to inquire about the progress of the repair. I was told by an employee that it had not even been looked at due to the volume of repairs ahead of mine. Two weeks went by...same story. On the day of the third week (7/21/18), I finally went to the store and asked about it in person. Prior to going to the store, I called the Pro Coverage number to inquire about my options with the protection plan I purchased. I was told by the rep to initiate a claim. I initiated a claim. I was then told by the Pro Coverage rep to call the Pro Coverage service line when I got to the store so that they could speak to one of the employees or a manager. The Pro Coverage rep told me I qualified for a replacement of the instrument and apologized for the delay in getting my bass repaired. By the way, I was never informed by the GC staff that I needed to initiate a claim after telling them I purchased a Pro Coverage plan. I get to the store and a employee retrieved my bass. The employee took it out of the gig bag, hooked it up to an amp and noodled with it for about a minute. He turned all three knobs while playing the bass and said they all worked fine. He told me that everything was working fine on the bass and that the tech told him nothing was wrong with it in the first place. I explained to him that nothing was happening when turning P pickup knob; that there was no change in volume/tone/sound...nothing. He said that knob was a "mix adjustment" and "not the P pickup volume knob" and that it was working fine. Not knowing any better, I took it home, plugged it in to my amp, and encountered the same problem with the P pick-up. So, for a second opinion, I located a local certified Fender repair tech and had him look it over. He plugged it in to an amp and he could immediately identify that not only was the P pick-up not working, but the bass was actually never set up/adjusted properly to be sold; as required by Fender for all "certified Fender dealers". The Fender tech copied my original receipt and said he could have a new pick-up sent to him in a couple days and could get Fender to pay the cost of the labor (everything covered). He said he gets this same story about 12 times a month from unsuspecting customers who purchased an instrument from GC Fort Collins. So, not only did I wait 3 weeks to be told anything, the GC employees lied to my face telling me that nothing was wrong with the bass. The GC guy didn't even correctly know what the function of each of the three knobs did. I would NOT recommend Guitar Center (anywhere) to anyone at any stage in their playing or purchasing of any item from their store. Very frustrating!!! read more

I went here looking for a stand for my Acoustic Bass guitar. I had done some research online, and noticed they had one for $7. What better for someone that's on a budget, right. Well, since I was here with money and without my wife, I was easily sidetracked by the acoustic room. I was a little discouraged with there selection in there. The Guitar Center in Arvada/Westminster had Banjos, Mandolin, and even a violin. This one had really nothing but Acoustic Guitars and one Acoustic Bass. It was a little discouraging, but wait a minute, oh yea, I'm here for a guitar stand. I go back to where the fancy guitar stands were on display. I asked the guy behind the counter if he had the cheap one, and of course they didn't. He did set me up with a $12 one though, so I can't complain at all about that. I would say the only thing stopping me from giving them a 5-star rating is the variety of instruments in the acoustic room. There were plenty of Electric Noisemakers as far as the eye could see though. I guess those probably are more in demand in a college town. This still was a really nice Guitar Center, and I'm sure I'll go back there. read more

Drove up from Longmont to probably buy a used Yamaha mx 49 synth. The sales guy in Keyboards, Steve hooked it up to an amp for me, was helpful. Loved the sounds. The price was $349 used, the new ones were only $399 on sale, but I didn't need the software and manual, determined to save $50 so I went ahead and bought it. It was pretty dirty, took 15 minutes to clean at home with Windex, dust coated on the inside of the pitch wheels! At this point I regretted not just buying a new one. So I get home and notice a very unusual thing: The volume seems to be about 1/3rd regular volume output from all my other synths. Called back and they had no idea what I was talking about. I look around online for a half hour, call a few more GC keyboard departments, and turns out it's the WRONG power supply. So the synth could already be ruined. For my 2nd trip up, I asked Steve to request that management make it right, they declined, but after I talked with Brian directly, he agreed to my solution, I don't want to set expectations by saying what they agreed to. So they came through in the end. But customers buying used gear at Ft Collins GC better make sure they're getting the right accessories. read more

Consistently poor customer service. Staff seemed unwilling to help. They were more interested in checking my bag than making a sale. Since you blocked my previous review, here it is again. I bought a guitar from a co-worker and decided after having cleaned it up (with the products recommended to me by Guitar Center) that I would take in to have it re-strung and tuned. I was greeted nicely at the front door by three employees. After telling them that I wanted to have new strings put on (the old ones were already removed in my cleaning process) I was told that it couldn't be done. After calling over what I assume to be a guitar tech, I was told that it was too much of a liability to put strings on a stringless guitar. WTF! After stating that the neck could break or the guitar could be damaged during the re-stringing it was against Guitar Center policy to do the work. I told him that it if something was broken, no big deal. It's a used guitar that I got really cheap. I even told him that if something was wrong he could throw it away. "I'll just get a new one". Now, it's been 10 years since my last guitar and I've decided to get back into to so that I could play with my son. I have never in my life heard anything so outrageous as "it's against company policy for us to put strings on your stringless guitar." I work in a bike shop, if someone brings in a tireless bike, we put tires on it. Car out of gas? Put gas in it. I was shocked at how hard it was to try and give them my money. Needless to say, I am in the market for a new amp to go with said guitar. Guitar Center will not be making that sale. As luck would have it, there is another guitar shop less than 1 mile away that was more than willing to make a sale and keep a customer happy. I WILL be going back to them this weekend to pick out a new amp. Sorry guitar center, you lost a customer. I wasn't unhappy with the performance of the employees I was simply let down by the lack of staff.
