I had bought a very inexpensive guitar that I wanted to radically upgrade. Matt, the guitar tech, was beyond helpful, giving sound advice, in addition to providing excellent workmanship, upgrading pots, all new wiring, and doing a pickup and string installation. The service was above and beyond anything that I expected. the guitar went from being a 4-500.00 guitar to that of a 2,500.00 guitar for a fraction of the price. A joke truly. Guitars are completely out of wack I asked for a tuner and this young snot nose said he didn't have one because ppl steal them, what??? I seen one open and sitting on the counter, don't look to hard it'll seem like you have a job to do! Ok back to the guitar, it has a floyd Rose tremolo that was sunk in the tail so hard that the string locks we're hitting the body Impossible to tune. Question: if your in the guitar selling business would it be smart to have a set up so the customer could enjoy and see if buying worthy? Especially at the $1,100+ price point? I don't live in Florida and was interested in negotiating a price on the guitar of $1,100+ in desperation of proper set up. There was 3 kids that wanted nothing to do with my business. Yep, not to pile on but... if you are ever running from the law or an ex wife this is a good place to hide out... no one will notice you are here. This place is bad for your self esteme. It's like you are invisible... one thing, the tech working the work station by the front door is a great guy. Easy to talk with. I brought him a 50 year old D-18 that needed a neck reset and though he said it was above his own skill level, he went over it with me and pointed out a couple issues so I would know what to ask when I found a luthier. I rarely write reviews but my positive experience compelled me to do so. I came in to Guitar Center to return a brand new Gibson Les Paul 60's Standard that had a nitro blemish on the headstock that I had purchased at Guitar Center online. Their inventory showed a replacement in stock however I found out that it was a "new" floor model that had many blemishes. Not good! The manager Brandon got involved to try and find a solution. There was only one store in the US that had a new unused Les Paul Standard 60's in the box in stock. Brandon spoke directly with the operations manager to confirm stock and secure the last guitar and arranged the return and shipment to my home, rather than back to the store. No money was exchanged. It was an easy process. Brandon was very helpful!! To my surprise the Les Paul arrived the next day and was absolutely perfect. Yeah!! My guitar had been broken for years and I finally got around to taking it in. Found out the tech was out today, but then the manager, Mark came by and asked if he could take a look. He looked and figured out exactly what was wrong quickly and easily, then said he'd take care of it personally. Took less than an hour and he answered any and all of my questions i had. At the same time, he was open and honest about exactly what I needed and what I would need. I don't live here, but if I did, this would be my go to store for anything music related! read more

Brought in my guitar for fitting and one of them proceeded to check the serial number on my guitar at the register and claimed there's been an increase in theft. I have been buying guitars amps and effects pedal from GC for over 20 years. For pedals GC always gave 60% of what Ebay or reverb would give you. My experience this week was really bad. They were under staffed, sales person had to stop with me to man the register...... After more than an hour I found out that the 60% policy was replaced with an internal app that netted out the 60% result - bottom line a like new petal selling for 250 on reverb GC would give me $50 - I walked out not to return. read more

Guitar Center is a music store where you can sample the equipment to see if you really like it in order to buy it. I went in yesterday, willing to spend $500 on a new Hi Hat I've been wanting. They had the exact one I was looking at. I asked an associate if he could open the lock on the cymbal contraption so I can test it out to see what it sounded like. He said "honestly I don't know, lemme ask someone". I went up to him about 30 minutes later after standing around waiting and he told me that unfortunately he can't let me try out the cymbals since they weren't already out for demo... What about all the guitars, amps, and keyboards everywhere with no restriction in which you can try out? I guess if you're a drummer you're out of luck. I left disappointed, I really did want to buy it but there's no way I'm spending $500 unless I can see what it can do. I went to Brents music right down the street, they have a much better selection of drum equipment and associates that understand. I got the same cymbals for a much better price and was able to text it out to make sure it's what I was looking for. Guitar Center is not a music store for drummers. I will never be going back. Don't go here, save your money and go to Brents. Tell him Riley sent you. read more

My husband asked to see a keyboard which he then asked to purchase at a very high cost. The sales assistant said he needed to serve some other people first. We waited about 20 minutes and he never came back. We went to another assistant at the front of the store and told him we want to purchase said keyboard. He said I can't help you as I'm not allowed to leave the front of the store. We will now buy the $1,700 keyboard online. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I ordered a $100 gift card as a Christmas gift. I received an email that it was shipped and would arrive in 3-5 business days. It didn't. I called the customer service line to inquire and had difficulty understanding the representative because their English was so terrible. I thought he said he followed up and it was on the way. It didn't arrive. I went in to my local Guitar Center and they referred me to a Cash Star number. Shakeenah was helpful but told me I needed to wait 14 business days ( I went in on 12 business days post email). I waited and still didn't receive it. I called again both Cash Star and Guitar Center 800 number. I asked if I could just cancel the gift card in their system and please receive a refund. They assured me this would happen and I would receive an email. I never did. So now I am out $100 and spent so much time on the phone and driving to the store (which I was trying to avoid during Covid being immunocompromised. Very very disappointed and frustrated. Just wanted gift card for my son in law to get his two guitars restrung for the holidays. Don't give them any business. read more

The staff is very friendly, fun and helpful. Anything i needed they were on top of it. Nice selection of new and used guitars and equipment.

The place is really nice with lots to look at... but be forewarned that you'd better enjoy looking! It seems to take a while for the employees to stop playing instruments by themselves in a corner to come help their customers, and when they do, they seem more concerned with what they're interested in instead of what the customer came in for (if that makes sense). I recommend this place if you want to browse around and play some instruments or grab some gear you can't get elsewhere. read more

No stars! I called G.C. in Fort Myers, Fl., on fowler Street twice once last week and again this week. The first Call I asked what they had in stock for archtop guitars. I let the phone ring over five minuets finally some one picks up and I ask about archtops and the young man (kid) puts me on hold for ten minuets, overall a twenty minute call without results. This week I called and asked of they could get from another store a Gibson ES330 blond or sunburst and a ES 275 blond or sunburst. Kid, "we can only get what they send us." Not true Boston store does it all the time. Finally we get that straightened out. Next comes "I'm really busy with another customer". Okay will you find the TWO guitars and call me ? "Yes, sure man it will be about an hour," great call me. No call. Management get with it your throwing business out the door. The help are not experts and your 4.5 star rating is wrong. Your sales staff needs training badly they are not informed and they are not professional in their approach. Guitar Center in the major cities seem to be good, this store in Fort Myers is ridiculous. And answer the phone promptly, who knows how much business you have lost with this shoddy service. And don't blame your help they respond like they have been trained. You haven't trained them. R.D. Wow. This place is understaffed. And the guitar manager is not at all customer friendly. Called him personally to purchase a $2k guitar. Because it had been on the floor, I asked that they restring it. It was a mess. Needed. A five minute cleanup. 5 bucks. Plus minimal labor. Arrived to pick it up. Not done. Plus took the better part of 30 minutes to pay and leave. After more guitar purchases than I hate to admit, this place is barely acceptable. You can do better. read more

The store is OK - all the basics and adequate help there to find what you need. But the guitar tech dept. is severely lacking - can't really do anything other than restring or the most basic set-up. Forget about a re-fret, fret adjustment or a Plek job. They don't do any of that. Disappointing. read more

Their staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Overall I was very satisfied with my visit and would recommend this store to any music lover. Want to take a minute & say how much we appreciated the service & tips we received from Raquel (not sure how to spell), & Fred when we recently purchased my new Yamaha & other misc. items. One of the reasons I love music so much is people involved with music communicate in unseen ways. Music is a language all by itself. Both Raquel & Fred understood our simple needs & provided quick & proficient service. They zeroed in on our needs in spite of our limited knowledge. They simply knew how to help us & also didn't try to sell us things we didn't need, or want, to get another dollar from us. We truly appreciate the quality service we received. I just want to thank the sales person who let us in just after closing tonight (Oct 20). My teenage son, who is on autism spectrum, needed high E guitar strings tonight. My teenage son is over 6 Ft tall, half asian & half black). The guy at the store must have seen a big & tall black guy darting towards the store just after closing.
