I came with my little brother to play some Les Pauls and check out the AV II Jazzmaster. While I am in the market for one of these guitars, I knew I wouldn't be making that big purchase that day. Regardless, the employee that helped us was freaking awesome. He was definitely a little busy that day but always checked in on us and didn't hesitate to grab the ladder to get the Jazzmaster down that we wanted to check out. I was fully expecting to be a pain in this guys' butt and for him to give us a little sass, but nope, dude was super nice. If I didn't live 3+ hours away, I would be by more to purchase stuff in person. Unfortunately I'm usually forced to do my shopping online. 10/10 will be back nearly every time I'm in Portland.

Today I felt like Animal (from the Muppets) on the drums!! Great selection of electric drums and acoustic guitars. Had a few used items as well. I spent about an hour trying out a few Taylor, Breedlove and Martin. I'm looking for a nice second guitar and I bought my first Yamaha from GC store in CA so I'm a fan of the centers stuff. The staff was helpful and more knowledgeable then what I probably needed but I'm always wanting to learn more as a beginner it's motivating. I haven't been on an electric drum set it 10+ years so that was a thrillllllll. Stay safe. Play wild.

Andy testing the battery from the compartment in the back of Black Beauty. She was up and running in just a few minutes!

Brought electric guitar "Black Beauty" in because she didn't work. In no time Andy had the back panel of the guitar off and had diagnosed and resolved the issue. Going above and beyond the call of duty, Andy noticed that the dials were rusty, and after a couple applications of WD-40, she sounded much better. I like how Andy took down all the info from the guitar and entered it in the computer for future reference- make, model and serial number. The cost for all this was very inexpensive. The back story is that my guitar teacher passed away recently and I unearthed a dusty, out of tune electric guitar that wasn't working from his room. Polished, tuned and in working order, Black Beauty and I will be playing endless 70s reggae in my dining room!

The ego often makes a shop owner see themselves as competing with the customer rather than serving them. In conclusion, when a shop owner's ego becomes the primary motivator, they may "dismiss" the customer to safeguard their self-image and sense of authority. This behavior often contradicts the classic notion that "the customer is always right." Instead, it reflects a pride that purportedly aims to create a comfortable, dignified environment. However, this approach lacks genuine substance, as it is built on flawed assumptions that undermine core principles of customer service.  Upon entering the establishment, I was separated from others and treated in a manner I believe would not occur outside this context. Specifically, I felt infantilized when I was informed that employers had complained about me for asking for deals. The feedback I received was vague and poorly articulated. However, one allegation shared was that I allegedly threw objects at staff members. This situation is unlikely ever to occur, particularly given that I felt my conversation went well. The irony was that, after I paid the full price for the installment, I was reprimanded for inquiring about a discount. This response can be seen as a manifestation of perceived disrespect; when customers do not exhibit the level of deference expected by the business owner, the owner may prioritize personal pride over financial gain. The proprietor of Hank's Music has requested that I refrain from visiting the establishment in the future unless I fully grasp the protocol regarding pricing negotiations for their pre-owned instruments. It is crucial to avoid discussing the possibility of negotiating the listed price, especially in the presence of customers and employees. A shop owner's ego can sometimes lead to reactions that prioritize personal pride over business acumen, particularly when considering the perceived value of instruments, as many musicians receive only a fraction of their instruments' value when trading them in or purchasing them outright. When operating from a place of ego, owners may misinterpret customer feedback or inquiries as personal affronts rather than constructive business interactions. This is ironic, given that I previously sold instruments to their establishment, thereby providing them with the opportunity to profit from those sales. In such scenarios, emotional responses can overshadow the potential benefits of engaging customers in a more transactional, less personal manner. I will not provide justification, engage in debate, defend my choices, or offer explanations regarding my actions. My dissatisfaction with the guitar has reached a point where I regret entering the store and making any purchases. Consequently, I have resolved to withdraw my support for this establishment and will not return in the future. I am sick to my stomach.

Michael was quick to help me find the perfect Mesa Boogie and brought down some custom PRS guitars so I could rock out and relax. I had a great time playing for a couple of hours. I returned the next day and continued to play and chat with the great staff. Geoff introduced himself and asked what I was interested in. He brought me a few high quality guitars until I couldn't resist. He made me a smoking deal on the JP Mesa Boogie and a beautiful purple mist PRS. I recommend FSG's and will definitely continue business with them even though I am from the Central Valley in California.

I was told I had 30 days to return it. I didn't like it and tried to return it a few weeks later. What I wasn't told was that I'd only get $50 as in store credit if the box was damaged (just the box, not the actual product itself). The worst part was the guy looked up the resell price on a used version and it came to about $80, but he then took 35% off even though it's a return. I then wanted to buy an amp (What I originally wanted before I was talked into something else) and asked for something around the $150 mark. He then tried to talk me into an amp without telling me the price. I had to firmly ask what the price was twice before he told me it's $300. Even though I was visibly upset from losing $100 from a product I bought from them because the box was damaged. I finally got him to show me exactly what I wanted. If you go here, know exactly what you want and be firm about it so you're not talked into getting something you don't want that costs more money. Also know that the boxes their products are in are worth $100 so you can't return a perfect condition product, within their return window, if the box is damaged.
