Office staff is very pleasant and scheduling was easy. I like the text reminders they send. Office was very clean, particularly the bathroom. Dr Donn was pleasant and through with questions and examination. I didn't feel rushed. She made sure all of my questions were answered. Overall a very positive first experience. Office location is very convenient - right near Grand Ave on M/R, near Q58, Q59, Q53 buses. I did read other reviews, which were a little mixed. Dr Donn is direct but not impersonal - I prefer this over anything else from a doctor. People should expect wait time with an OBGYN - if you want a doctor to deliver your baby, they will be running around unexpectedly by definition. My last OBGYN was very personable but not particularly through with examinations and he didn't deliver either of my two kids - in both cases I got an attending at the hospital who I'd never met before. read more

So rude and unprofessional. Went to see her for an irregular cycle, and she just told me to get a boyfriend or husband, while doing nothing for my medical problem. I asked her why she was telling me that; all she said was, "Don't you want kids?" She was very rough, aggressive, and painful during the medical exam as well. She also made other rude comments again, asking why I switched doctors so much. I had to switch to a new OBGYN because she did absolutely nothing for my problem; seeing her was a waste of time. I do not recommend Dr. Donn. On my first appointment, I noticed some uncomfortable things about her as a doctor. During my very first prenatal appointment, a Pap smear was performed because I hadn't had one recently. I knew it was required, but while she performed the Pap smear, she didn't explain anything she was doing; she just did it. It was the same thing when she checked my cervix with her fingers. She literally just stuck them up there without explaining why, which was very uncomfortable. It would have been helpful if she had explained what she was doing and why. Another odd thing was that she asked about my partner's ethnicity, thinking he was Guyanese like she is. It seems she picks and chooses whom she treats well based on ethnicity, as suggested by my experience and her reviews, but that's another story. The medical assistant asked if I had any complaints, and I mentioned my severe morning sickness, which later turned out to be a bigger issue. When I tried to explain to Dr. Donn how many times I was throwing up and how intense my nausea was, she interrupted me to say she could only keep orange soda and Reese's down. This was very unempathetic and unprofessional, especially considering it's my first pregnancy and I was describing something debilitating. Despite these issues, I wanted to give her another chance at my next appointment, understanding that everyone can have an off day. After my appointment, I messaged her asking for a doctor's note to reduce my work hours due to my severe nausea and vomiting. Instead of providing the note, the front desk called me to come in because Dr. Donn wanted to speak to me. This was very frustrating because if she had let me explain myself two days prior, I wouldn't have had to waste my time coming in again while feeling very ill. When I met her at the office, she diagnosed me with HG and said she would prescribe medication. When I asked for a note to reduce my work hours temporarily, she condescendingly said, "It doesn't work like that. It's either you work or you don't work. Why don't you just take the next two weeks off and relax?" My job only needed a simple note confirming reduced hours, but Dr. Donn wanted to involve insurance and other unnecessary steps. I didn't need a disability or insurance claim. I have since switched to a different doctor in the same office. When Dr. Donn is there, I can hear her clearly demanding things from the medical staff, exhibiting an aggressive demeanor, and wanting things her way, causing the staff to run around stressed. This is embarrassing for patients in the office, and it's clear she doesn't think people notice her behavior, but we do. Based on her numerous negative reviews across multiple websites, I feel reassured that I am not alone in my experience. It's a shame that, as an OBGYN working in one of the most sensitive fields in women's health, anatomy, and pregnancy, she can be so mean-spirited. She seemed to know and talk more about insurance than anything else, and if that's her focus, she should work in insurance instead of OBGYN care since she has the attitude of an insurance specialist. read more

This doctor's office put in the wrong codes for multiple OB appointments I had resulting in my insurance not covering the visits. I had to repeatedly sort this out. Really terrible. They don't know what they're doing. Dr. Donn also doesn't have the best bedside manner and makes you feel stupid for asking questions or expressing concerns she doesn't agree are valid. Dr. Donn had an attitude the second she met me. She was arguing with me because I felt like I had a bladder infection and she says she doesn't do anything with the bladder. Imagine a gyno who wouldn't do a urine specimen. She examined me and was very rough and I was in pain. When I told her I was in pain her response was "well you wanted me to examine you". She prescribed medication for an infection i tested positive for. The medication didn't work so I called back to let her know I'm still having symptoms, her response to me was "I should go to an emergency room"!!! Emergency room for a common vaginal infection. Oh and by the way she did finally send in my urine culture but the results showed she just tested for glucose only not for a bladder infection. So I believed whatever they check on me. However, I was not comfortable trusting doctor and assistance when I visit 2nd times. I decided not to go. Therefore I changed to presbyterian OB/GYN and asked for medical release forms to fax over to presbyterian OB/GYN.However, they kept calling me and I felt very discomfort. The funny thing is THEY DID NOT SENT ALL MEDICAL RELEASE FORM!! I had to retake same blood test in presbyterian OB/GYN!!! I call them to resent it, but they said they were busy now. Also, they billed me so much money that my insurance can't cover after all. Even now, they billed me again! You can't trust people who only trying to ripping out money instead of taking care of patients. I only visit 2 times and they charged me $3500!!!! Without any appropriate medical release form. I have been a patient of Dr. Donns since October 2023 till last month. She is extremely rude and dismissive. Instead of taking the time out to listen to your concerns, she gives the entire appointment about 5-10 minutes which gives her the ability to rush out and on to the next patient. At my very last appointment, I had let her know that I gave her office staff paperwork to fill out so that I could go on pregnancy leave. I am going into my third trimester and I work as a flight attendant for a major airline. There are some job requirements that I am now limited to performing and doing my job safely. My job requires me to quickly fit through an overwing window exit in the case of an emergency. I am also required to lift objects weighing 50 lbs or more, as well as push/pull objects that weigh an access of 250 lbs. She brushed off my concerns and told me that I should continue to work till my due date. read more

Makes you come in person to get your results even when nothing's wrong. When I asked her why she didn't call her patients instead, she said that if she did this she has to make 40-50 calls per day. I find this ridiculous given all other clinics, doctors, and doctor assistants I've been to take the time to call patients especially when tests come back normal. Meanwhile, Gulhabar believes it's okay to charge a patients insurance and a $40 copay to tell her patients (in this case me) that the results are "perfect" At this point, I'm aggravated and when I ask her a copy of my results she says I can have them if I ask nicely. Which to that I tell her she's lost a patient and I don't need my results since they're "perfect" Disappointing outcome for someone I had hoped to be my permanent gynecologist but Gulbahar in the end doesn't seem to have respect or consideration for her patients time and money. read more

Dr. Donn is unprofessional. She asked me "How many times have you been pregnant?" Instead of asking me if I've ever been pregnant. (The answer is never in case you were wondering). She doesn't take her time in explaining anything. I saw her couple months ago and can't even remember if I have cysts or fibroids in my ovary. Also, I had to come in for my results for any tests I got done. Like my pap smear came back normal, but she couldn't tell me this over the phone and I had to take a day off work to go into the clinic. She said I should come back every 3 months to be on the safe side since I'm sexually active. I told her I always use protection with my bf so I don't know if that's really necessary. Before going to Dr. Donn, I read some unpleasant reviews here on Yelp but I still decided to make an appointment anyway. I decided on Dr. Donn because I only live 5 minutes away so it was very convenient. They are located right on Queens Blvd and near the subway. For my appointment, my goal was to make sure I was healing well after my C-section. My visit was very quick. She ordered that I do a sonogram to check if it was healing well inside but the technician was not working that day. I had to go back another day for a 6pm appointment and I had to pay another co-pay. The technician who did my sonogram didn't crack a smile. It felt like she did not want to be there and wants to go home since it was already late in the day. Just didn't have friendly demeanor which made the sonogram experience very awkward. As for my results, the receptionist says the doctor can contact me for my results without me coming in again. It has been 1.5 months and I still didn't get a call from them. So I decided to call last week and the receptionist says I have to schedule ANOTHER appointment to get my results and I have to pay ANOTHER $40 co-pay which will total to $120 worth of co-pays. From my experience of seeing so many different doctors, I never had once have to go in for my results. They either tell me over the phone or they mail me the results. The receptionist also said that all of Dr. Don patients have to go in for their results. I was like "what! are you serious?!". This is bad medical practice. read more

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I was told sometime in February by the office that my insurance (HF) was not covering my claims because they have UHC listed as primary. I contacted UHC and got proof that I haven't had their ins since 2015. I sent this letter to HF about a week and a half ago because prior to this, I called and asked the receptionist at the office if she could fax the letter to HF for me and she said sure- which was a lie because I got there during my last apt and was told the fax machine was not working. The sweet nurse Paulina felt bad and suggested I go to Walgreens to fax it- which I did. I called last week and confirmed that HF received it and they told me they would update my COB and send her office papers to resubmit all my claims for payment. Instead of calling me to let me know that they would not see me during my apt on 4/1/21 because HF didn't pay, they waited for me to go all the way there (far drive) to tell me I needed to pay half of the bill to be seen (as per Dr. Donn). I requested my full medical records from the receptionist and I was denied my records. The front desk stated: "I have to speak to the doctor to see what she wants to do. She's busy seeing other patients and will be for a while." My apt was at 5pm so there was time allotted for me to be seen so I don't care what other patients she had. Also, what do you mean see what she wants to do? I am entitled by law- to obtain my medical records in full. I work in the medical field and I know this is not an option. Ever since I read a review on google stating she broke a baby's skull during delivery, I wanted to leave. This was just the icing on the cake for me to leave. I found an amazing Dr. in Howard beach with great reviews and I need my medical records one week prior to my apt. I called to let them know I need my records for my new doctor's apt and the answer was still that she needed to see what the doctor wants to do. If I don't get my records or a call about my records request by Monday, I will be filing a formal complaint with the NYSDOH Office of Professional Medical Conduct (Form DOH-3867). They are making it seem as though she is withholding my medical records because of an outstanding balance owed which is unlawful and illegal to do. read more

Dr. Donn is such a wonderful lady and a great doctor. She is very calm and comforting and I would absolutely give her 6 stars if I could. The medical staff and assistants are horrible though. They are very nasty and rude on the phone. I had to get a refill sent over and no one sent it over the entire week. They argue on the phone and sit in the back while drinking their Starbucks and talk about their nails. **EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED** My problem is that I was never explained properly what I had. I pretty much had to BEG FOR INFORMATION and if I kept on asking she would get irritant. Always rushing to get the appointment done! ALWAYS! Most of my visits I had to wait between 30min (once I had to wait for 2hrs) and only to be rushed and to ignore my questions once again. And lastly, CUT THOSE LONG NAILS Dr. Donn!!! In both occasions, those long nails hurt me! Last visit I really needed vaccines but I needed to make sure she would do them (I am going to move elsewhere) but I HAD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THIS. I made it and once with her she said: "No, I won't give you the vaccines because you need to start/ finish with the same doctor". THIS CLEARLY COULD HAVE BEEN SAID BY PHONE!!!!! If I went with this doctor was out of necessity, and it sucks that this doctor really helps to the minuscule. Terrible. Dismisses complaints of pregnant women, withholds important information and spends 5 minutes with you. I ended up having a very complicated pregnancy and I remember complaining about migraines and she told me to ease up on the coffee. PREGNANT WOMAN + MIGRAINES = HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE (PREECLAMPSIA) It was way too early for pressure issues but it turns out that the pregnancy was more more complicated than she cared to examine me for. Where do I even begin... Dr Donn has been absolutely amazing to my family and I during our first pregnancy. I could not have asked for better prenatal care than what she provided. When it came to the delivery, she was present promptly without me feeling an ounce of anxiety. Her instructions we clear and thanks to her coaching baby was out in 29 mins. I've been Dr. Donn's patient for about 13 years now, she's delivered 3 of my children and will continue to be a patient of her until one of us departs this world. With that said, I've read a few of these reviews and must say they are extremely harsh and untruthful. While she is not the type of physician who will hand hold you whole thru having a papsmear test, wipe your tears and give you pep talk with a hug to console you for your punching pain, she IS straight forward, to the point and assertive (for those who say she lacks empathy). She is an extremely knowledgeable medical professional who has an established practice with a large following of faithful patients - I'm one of them. If you are looking for a doctor who will tell you how it is, has extensive experience in OB/GYN, then you found your doctor. For those women, who need more TLC, you may want to search elsewhere. I feel it is my duty to write my experience for others and even the Doctor's. I have gone to her for years at her Greenpoint office. Yes, she is a bit blunt and coarse but I overlooked it. I had lost an Aunt to ovarian cancer and went to her to get advice and make sure I didn't have it. She cleared me and gave me advice about what to do to avoid it. A year later I was having problems and I thought they were hormonal but she started freaking out that it could be ovarian cancer and had me do many tests. One was an excruciating biopsy where she told me it would be quick and I could go back to work. I was in so much pain I passed out. The nurse who is great said I should have had someone with me. I go a few weeks later to get the results and she is reading them out and then says "Thank God ovarian cancer doesn't run in your family or I would think that is what you have." I was stunned and said "My aunt had it, that's why you did all there tests." Then she says, and this was the ultimate slap. "Oh, she couldn't have had it or she would have been dead in 5 years" I said "She was dead in less than one year." Then she starts shuffling papers and orders a blood test for tumors. Why wasn't it ordered in the first place? Then she says "We'll wait a few month and then see what happens." I ask if I should just have them removed. and she says "Well, that's up to you." And leaves. I will never go to her again. How can you be so unprepared? I was in a panic for two months and it turns out I am cancer free thank God. I changed doctors. read more

Avoid if possible! I don't have a problem with doctors who are straight to the point, as long as they are meticulous about their profession. From my experience, I felt Dr. Donn didn't take my symptoms seriously, and was dismissive. She was not organized and also didn't like to be questioned and often seemed discombobulated. Furthermore, as for empathy, it's definitely out the window. I went to go see Dr. Donn today, in regards to some discomfort and red flags I have been experiencing lately. She gave me her unwanted advice about my hyphenated last name. She continued to explain why I should stick to one (Unbelievable). Now since, we got that out of the way. I gave her a brief history and what I would like her to look for. The so called examination took less than 1 minute. I was confused, and assumed she would use an ultra-sound to detect if anything was wrong. She said, I need to be seen by a doctor and to book another appointment. To my understanding she is a gynecologist. She said, she doesn't like using "these machines" and it's only for her pregnant patients. I was genuinely worried. Don't go to this doctor! I went to her for a routine pap and for a mammogram referral in 9/2017. The pap test was fine as I always have a normal result. The mammogram, however, was a different story. I had the mammo done and was waiting for a call from the doctor with results. I had to call the doctor's office to ask them about it. To my horror the mammo came back abnormal and I don't even get a call from the doctor. I had to take time off from work to go see her to get my results. I had to get another mammo and sono of my breast. I asked the office to call me when the results were in. No call. I called the office again only to hear that the doctor does not give results over the phone, even if the results were normal. Bottom line she was holding my results hostage until I take time again off from work to see her. Another claim sent to my insurance and another copay I had to pay. I was sick with worry and anxiety and she couldn't even call me to tell me that results were benign. I found that out because the radiology office mailed a copy of the results to me. I believe that this doctor has no compassion and only cares about copay/reimbursements. If I can give her a negative star I would she is a terrible doctor and person. read more

Dr. Donn is superb! She, along with her staff, are extremely professional while also maintaining a friendly and almost family-like demeanor and atmosphere within the office. I have never felt more confident and comfortable with any doctor than I do with Dr. Donn. Although there are many other patients coming and going in and out of her office, Dr. Donn (and her staff) remember me by name and often ask about my family. I am a first-time mom to a beautiful baby girl; Dr. Donn prepared me for everything and answered all of my questions throughout my pregnancy and even postpartum. She put me at ease with any of my concerns and even though she was on vacation when my baby was born, she could not have been more instrumental in preparing me for childbirth as well as ensuring that I was happy and healthy postpartum. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone who's pregnant!!!! I went to see her twice and both times were very stressful!!! Doctor neglected my questions or answered them with an attitude or "it's up to you if you want to eat raw fish, Asian people do". Im asking you because you are a doctor and you have to tell me about all the potential risks that can harm me and my baby!!! Doctor suppose to tell you from the very beginning what you should do, eat etc. or not while being pregnant!!! Few days ago I get a phone call from her office, front desk lady tells me I have to come in to see a doctor today, saying it's about my blood results and trying to scare me... (which I did, i got very concerned about my results) so I told her I switched doctors and I need my results to be faxed over to my current doctor, her voice and attitude immediately changed!!! Terrible experience i never met a doctor who was so rude. The reason i had to leave my doctor that I've been seeing for many years was because of the change of insurance. Dr.Donn kept on screaming at her assistants for no apparent reason. I find her very unprofessional. Worst experience ever. Scheduled a Saturday appt. I work weekdays. Traveled two hrs by train to get there. On the examing room table waitin for dr. Donn to come in and I can here her telling her staff she has to leave to apologize for her. How uncaring and unprofessional. Here I am naked from the bottom down waiting to be seen and she could not even come in her self and apologize. How humiliating, I felt so violated. No human being should be treated in this manner. I got dressed, and the receptionist came to the examing room I was in and apologized for the doctor and I told her that I traveled two hrs. to get there and now I had to traveled another two hrs. to get home. Message to the doctor you should not schedule patients on the day you know you have a patient at the hospital waiting to deliver. You should have had your receptionist call me and cancel my appt. Dr. Donn came highly recommended by two of my wonderful colleagues and friends. It was very easy to schedule an appointment and I received a reminder on the day of the appointment. I was scheduled for 6:45 pm on Valentine's Day. At 5:32 pm, I contacted the receptionist to inform the office that my husband's car broke down on the way to the doctor's office and I may not be able to come in but will contact them in a few minutes to provide an update. A minute later, I contacted the office again and informed the receptionist that I will take a cab and come to the office. At 6:14 pm, I contacted the Office again and informed the receptionist that there was a lot of traffic and I promise to be there as soon as possible. I said to her that I know it is Valentine's Day and everyone wants to go home - her response was yes. Arrived at 6:53 pm, I was informed by the front desk receptionist that I am late and cannot be seen and I have to make another appointment. I pleaded with her and showed her my phone of how many times I have been in contact with the office. Also, I said to her, I paid $30 by cab to get here. She said I will ask if Dr. Donn will see you. She returned a minute later and said, "no, you cannot be seen, the doctor is gone for the day." She said would you like to make another appointment, I said "NEVER." It was unfortunate. I traveled from one end of Brooklyn to another, which is over one hour by four trains. I could not afford to take another cab home so I ended up on the G to the A to the R to the #2 trains. I personally would never make another appointment or recommend anyone to this office. I am a Licensed Social Worker and as a Clinician, I have a professional responsibility to my clients. Personally and professionally, I would not treat others the way I was treated by this office. read more
