But let's take a trip down memory lane and revisit just how awful Landmark Dental has been. In 2020 and 2021, I had dental work done here. My dentist, Kevin, upgraded my composite tooth to a porcelain one WITHOUT my consent. At the time, there was no way I could have afforded a $2,000 tooth--I specifically selected the cheapest option. When I arrived to get the crown, Kevin casually informed me it was a "wedding present" since I had recently gotten engaged. Fast forward to when I tried to schedule a cleaning before my wedding, and suddenly, Landmark decided I owed them for that porcelain tooth I never agreed to. I asked if they had even bothered to file a claim with my excellent dental insurance--of course, they hadn't. They assured me they would, but for six months, I had to battle with their utterly incompetent employee, Dee, because my insurance never received the claim. Landmark eventually stopped answering my calls entirely, leaving me to move on with my life. Now, four years later, here we are again--Landmark harassing me, ignoring all logic, and making my life difficult. And the cherry on top? I even paid for the porcelain tooth I never authorized, yet I'm STILL being hounded for money. This place is a joke. Their billing department is a nightmare, their customer service is nonexistent, and their ethics are questionable at best. If you're thinking about going to Landmark Dental.

The initial intake process for myself and my two dependents was also extremely lengthy, taking at least an hour, if not longer. I was particularly uncomfortable with the emphasis on services that were not covered by our insurance. We were required to complete an Invisalign assessment even after declining interest in Invisalign, which felt unnecessary. I was also concerned by how our dental conditions were presented. In my experience, relatively routine issues were described in a way that made them seem much more serious, and each of us was referred to a surgeon. After further consideration, those referrals did not appear to be necessary for us. There are definitely positives here--the location is great and the staff is very nice--but overall, the lengthy intake, outdated equipment, pressure toward services we did not request, and what I felt were overly alarming recommendations made this practice a poor fit for my family.

Later, when he asked for the exact product names and manufacturers of any anesthetic, filling material, bonding agent, or other material selected for his treatment, the office declined to provide that information. He was not asking the office to research every product in advance or prepare an extensive report. He simply wanted to know what medication or material had been selected before it was injected or placed in his mouth, so he could review the manufacturer's information himself. Instead of working with him on that basic request, the office canceled his appointment and offered to send him back to the VA, even though he had waited months and was experiencing dental pain. We understand that dental offices are busy and that products may vary depending on the treatment needed. However, patients should be able to ask what is being administered or permanently placed in their bodies without being treated as difficult or unsuitable for care. A patient asking, "What exactly are you using?" should receive a clear answer--not lose access to treatment.
