If I could give 0 stars I wouldn't hesitate. I went in for few biopsies. I was told in appointment…read morethat I would receive a call immediately if it was necessary for me to come back in for a follow up. I received results that to my eyes looked all benign. I never received a call which made me comfortable that everything was ok. I then receive a text message with a portal alert stating to contact the office in regards to my results (this is 3 months later). At that point very concern and nervous. I contact the office within minutes of reading the message. Finally get a call back 3 hours later from the doctor. She starts with stating that one of the three areas was "benign" but the recommends me to come for a follow up still. Then follows up with telling me that she called and left multiple messages on my phone. Which is an absolute lie. I was legitimately concerned for my health so I was on call as usual because I run a business daily. Waiting to hear anything and hoping to not receive a call like she said. I don't miss a beat when it comes to calls and texts. So what I got from this is. They clearly are hurting to get people in their office and used a benign result as a scare tactic to gain more business from me. They had multiple ways of contacting me over these last three months and didn't use one of them. Not a text, not a call, not an email. They literally have a portal that sends automated texts to you that shows history of messages. I never received one till today. My appointment was beginning of February. If you want a dermatologist you can trust and count on to make you feel comfortable. Stear clear of this place. The doctor also is not a pleasant human being by any means.

Once you finally see him, it's rush, rush, rush! A year ago, he took a biopsy of a small bump on my leg. Even though it came up as basal skin cancer, he said the biopsy took care of it. Shortly thereafter, he sent me 2 certified letters telling me that I needed to have it checked at his office. I called and told his office that I would come in this summer. (I am a teacher and do not like to use substitutes.) When I called, his office person said Dr. Hamel no longer wanted to be my doctor! My new dermatologist said the spot on my leg is gone. He saw me 5 minutes after I arrived and gave me a thorough examination. The spot where Dr. Hamel did moh's surgery last summer has come back! My new doctor is right across the street. His name is Dr. Sable. Go to him!

Example: see this prescription bottle. I called in Monday morning for a refill to be ready by Wednesday. When I went Thursday, the pharmacy said Bay Dermatology never responded to their fax, so they sent another. Friday, still no answer. I called the office in the morning--nothing. I called again early afternoon and insisted on a callback. Cara finally called to say Clarissa claimed the script already had refills. As you can see on the bottle, it says "no refills." The issue isn't who made the original mistake--Clarissa or the pharmacy--but the office's assumption that nothing was wrong and their failure to confirm before the weekend. This medication treats hives that cause facial and throat swelling, so this is not something to treat casually. To make matters worse, when they finally did send the prescription, they sent it in incorrectly again--twice a day instead of once, just as they've done before with a medication I had already reported caused bad side effects. Now the office is closed for the weekend, and I'm left without the correct medication. Bay Dermatology--you're fired.

I visited Bay Dermatology on my own without a physician refferal to get a skin exam done. The…read moreoffice staff initially seemed confused by my request but scheduled me for an exam. I filled out a packet of papers and was scheduled with an ARNP named Clarissa. Clarissa was very friendly and professional and made me feel at ease. I showed her a few moles I had and she decided to biopsy one by numbing the mole and cutting a small portion out (no blood, feels like a scrap after numbing wears off). A few days later staff called and said they wanted to remove it. They used terms I wasn't familiar with to explain why and scheduled my follow up. I returned to the office and the medical assistant told me I was going to be brought into the surgery room and my mole was going to be cut off via scalpel and then I was going to be stitched up. A few minutes later Clarissa came into the room and clearly explained everything to me and removed the rest of the mole via the same method she took the sample with (no laser, no blood). Although the medical assistant made my anxiety shoot through the roof Clarissa made my experience quick, easy and pain free. The medical assistant's incorrect statments only added to my overall impression of the office staff. I almost chose to go elsewhere while scheduling my first visit because I heard an employee yelling at someone on the phone saying "I've had enough of this" and "this is ridiculous, I've had it with you" I gave my info to schedule my first appointment while standing two inches from another patient waiting to leave after his appointment was over. The line backed up quickly at the back counter and the lady at the front (who is much faster) tries to compensate by trying to process patients leaving but that slows down patients coming into the lobby and the overall check in process. The office will text and call you to confirm appointments. I didn't wait at all my first appointment and waited 30 minutes past my scheduled time for my second appointment and both visits lasted max 15 minutes. I was routed to the brand's main office then voicemails when trying to get a hold of the office for pre appointment questions. I would reccomend Bay Dermatology for patients looking for a local dermatology practice although they're a franchise. I was asked if I wanted to see a doctor both times but I felt at ease and informed with the ARNP I saw. Clarissa's professionalism and friendly attitude and her performing a quick and painless procedure is why I'll return to Bay Dermatology.

I had a bad reaction to bandage adhesive and tried to call the office but was directed by the AI System to leave a message for a nurse. My call was not returned and the issue became much worse. I could not get a call back from the office. I finally called my PCP who was concerned and nice enough to send a staff member to the Suncoast office and ask them to call their patient! I was finally called back by my PCP and told to see another Suncoast Dermatologist (Josh) at 4:00 PM. The AI System this company has switched over to makes it nearly impossible to speak with a human being. The atmosphere in the office has changed greatly, staffing changes, unqualified attitudes and I was not the only patient who noticed. Today I had stitches removed from a large incision and was treated only by the medical assistant. Jessica had an obligation to at least do a post follow up and look at this wound, including the adhesive burns but did not. I will not return to this office and would not recommend anyone else go there in the future. Patient treatment is no longer a priority. Sad but true!
