Today my husband needed to be fitted for a new orthotic. Initially they wanted 1/2 the money up front; we told them our insurance covers it at 100%. They called to verify and found out it was covered at 100% but the allowable amount was $68, which does not cover their cost. So, they wanted us to pay the difference. My husband explained that balance billing is not allowed as in network provider. We contacted the insurance company to inquire and were told they were no longer in network providers. We contacted the office and were subsequently told that if the insurance didn't pay (because we don't have out of network coverage), we would just have to pay the bill. We were never notified by their office that they were no longer in network providers, so we could have looked elsewhere for service. Unprofessional!!
