My wife and I arrived Friday afternoon for our tent camping weekend at the Suwannee River Rendezvous. The three-hour drive to Mayo wasn't bad from Tampa. Check-in is at 2pm. We arrived around 5pm. The place can be a tight squeeze around the office, even with a small pick-up truck and it is pretty hilly! My wife and I walked in to the office and a friendly woman behind the desk got us all set up in a matter of minutes. Soon, we were on our way down to our site. The tent locations in the lower rendezvous area are nice but not all that spacious. They are manageable and are limited to one tent each. I think majority of their visitors come in RV. Our primitive spot was up on a hill, overlooking the Suwannee River, which was beautiful. We got our tent set up in the only spot that it would really fit. We had a fire pit and a picnic table. A long trail goes all along the river and luckily, not many people were wandering around. Otherwise, we would have had many travelers passing through our campsite all day. My wife's parents ended up having to change their site because their camping set up is little more elaborate. They would not have fit comfortably and also would have had to climb up a steep hill to get to their site. Once settled, we set about to explore. They have a convenient lodge area complete with a mini convenience store. If you forgot anything, they have it. They offer games and other activities. They have a take a book, leave a book section and a kitchen that cooks food. On our first night, we played bingo. My wife and I won $70 on one game. Our two night stay was only $58 so, in theory, they paid us to be there. We visited family over in the RV park area which was relatively quiet and nice. This is where you can find showers and a catch-and-release pond. The showers are little ways away from the lower rendezvous. They were clean though and private since it's just a single shower inside a locked bathroom. On Saturday, we went kayaking on the river. I rented a kayak for $25 for the day. They offer a service to drive you up river and drop you off but we did that ourselves since we had a trailer. 2.5 hours later, we were back! The river is beautiful and quiet, although, this time of year, no wildlife at all. Saturday, we also participated in the pigeon races. For $5, you get a to pick out a pigeon and if it's the first to fly back, you get a prize. A fun activity. We also played redneck bowling which, if you ask me, was a pretty nifty invention. There is a crank you turn to set up the pins and a mechanism on a pulley to return the bowling ball. Pretty cool and a lot of fun! All in all, this place was a good time. For us, we like to be a little more "off-the-grid" as they say. This was a good balance. The primitive campsite area was secluded and didn't receive cell service or the wifi provided from the lodge. However, a 2-minute walk and we could get internet, a cup of coffee and a bathroom. My wife and I would definitely go back here. The staff we encountered were nice for the most part and at least for mid-February, the camping side wasn't all that busy.

It's about five miles from exit 22 on I75. I called before making my way off of the exit. I hate calling campgrounds! Why do they all give you an interview? What does it matter what year the RV is? Other than that, it was a pretty stellar RV park. They don't allow tent camping and I didn't see any pop ups. We checked in around noon on a Friday and even though there were only a couple of sites available, it was extremely quiet. They were having a pizza party at the community center and on our last walk, we passed a group gathered around the communal fire pit. The bathrooms are near the community center, which is in the back of the campground and at the entrance. There is nothing except one small lounge/bar right outside of the grounds and a Dollar General about two miles before you get to the RV park. So, you better come prepared. There is a walking trail that's off the beaten path. We were happy to escape the Kentucky snow, so the balmy 73 degrees for was much welcomed and we took advantage for a couple of walks. There were also a few cabins that I think were priced pretty reasonably. I wouldn't necessarily call them cabins though. They were more like modular homes with dark brown siding. Still, probably better than staying the night at a Red Roof Inn.

She has serious issues that she's not dealing with. They're also many lies being told to the residence there they shut the bathhouse down allegedly due to maintenance that was almost a year ago. You could fix something in the Empire State building that like the time it had nothing to do with that line number one line number two they stopped the mail service in the park doodle laziness they want to do the bare minimum and not do the best for the residence. I had to go to the local post office and get a box. A lot of my mail was inadvertently sent back because of them important mail. Finally when I went to go on vacation and told him I would be back in a month she told me that it would be best for me to find another park no valid reason given whatsoever truly a personal decision on her pot they allowed people to commit to the park they're obviously doing inappropriate activity at night. I had to go to the sheriffs office outside of Lake City to report it they said they didn't want to do anything about it even though it's their park I had to put up with this for over a month the noise and the activity going in and out a short stay there will probably be no problem whatsoever, but any long-term type of living you will be met with resistance with this character Jackie all she does is ride around in the golf cart doing nothing looking for trouble Danny H

I would recommend running the water first because it hadn't been run in a while and I had black stuff coming out of my faucet. There was also a wasp nest in the power box so I had to take care of that. Also, the fire pit was filled with about a 3 inch layer of ash that I cleaned out before I made my first fire. There's a guy's phone number on the kiosk that you can call for firewood. He's not affiliated with the park but will bring a bundle for seven dollars plus a delivery fee. There isn't a dedicated hose for black water tank flushing, so I hooked up my own (luckily brand new) hose to the potable water faucet. It would be much better and recommended to have a separate spigot for black water flush hoses. The sunset was beautiful and it seems the fishing is good although I didn't fish. The site had a picnic table, and the firepit has a grate for cooking albeit rusty. I had my grilling supplies and got some of the flakes off. The bathrooms were also big and clean. There is no camp host here FYI. Just pull in and park.

We stayed here for five days in January. We had specifically came out to visit other RV'ers who…read morewere staying and recommended it. We really enjoyed our time in Cedar Key and this RV campground had some good and some bad. The RV campground is older and its layout was probably carved by organic growth, rather than pre-planned out. Driving our 36' RV around the RV campground was difficult and for the first time ever, I had to ask someone to move their car so I could park in the spot. The flip side is everyone is very friendly, they have an onsite restaurant, and oh yeah... beautiful waterfront sunset views. The family would head to a dock and enjoy some time watching the sun go down every day. During the morning dog walk, I would stop to enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds the RV campground. This RV park had water, sewer, electric and cable hookups. There was a laundry room, which was clean and had some newer machines. The WiFi was good but not always reliable. I was disappointed to find there was no playground nor dedicated dog walk. When we did leave, I found it hard to leave. The town and the RV campground were very laid back. I never once felt stressed out during my stay, since Cedar Key is at the end of the road there was no road traffic or noise. Would I recommend this park? Absolutely. Would we come back? We are debating returning to Cedar Key in a month, but we will absolutely come back. Informational: We travel in a 36' Class A RV.
