Finally, after trying to let it run it's course, it became too painful to bear any longer! I called Family Dental at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday, asking if they could see me that day. Their answer? Come now! Wow! That impressed me. Anyway, long story short, Dr. Jeff Wechsler saw me immediately, confirmed my (own) diagnosis, took precautionary X-rays just in case, and gave me a few mouth rinses to ease the pain while it heals. He was courteous, professional and very easy to talk to. A refreshing change from most dentists! I happily have found a new dentist and the best part is that he's only right down the road from me! I kept going to this office because they kept calling me to go see them even when they never had a solution for me (of course they needed me to keep going so they could continue billing the insurance ) all they kept doing was ordering these useless plates (guards) same exactly plate like 4-5 times just to bill my insurance. I swear I could do an X-RAY TODAY AND MY JAW IS THE SAME AS IT WAS ON DAY one! I'm glad I stopped going there because if I didn't my bill would have been $20,000 by now. Taking in consideration they already bill my insurance on top of this insane Amount they are requesting me to pay. I just called them to ask for a detailed bill so I can corroborate with everything I have documented and a very rude Arrogant woman name CONNIE didn't even let me finish talking and asked me for my email so that she could resend the same bill my attorney already got and she claimed that I now have to pay the "$2000" they were going to discount just because i was accusing them of fraud when I wasn't even accusing them of FRAUD ( she said it) I never used that word but I guess she knows that is exactly what they do so she had to say it. I met another patient there last time I visited the office and she was actually the one who told me that they kept ordering those guards Just to keep getting money out of her insurance , now I understand what she was referring to. I will make sure i leave my review on every single platform I found and the BBB SITE , the first thing they do when you visit them for the first few times is sent you the link so you give them a good review so here you have my updated honest review. He informed me about how to improve my daily care in order to stop cavities and gingivitis. I came from another dentist who would just scold and say "you need to floss more". Every 6 months I came in with yet another cavity. After seeing Dr. Knapp the first time and listening to his advice, I haven't had a cavity since!! My favorite line of his goes something like, "I want you to make my job easier". The better I can take care of my teeth, the easier and quicker he can get his job done. I was genuinely terrified and had a very difficult relationship with dental care. Then I met Dr. Lebel. From the very beginning, he took the time to understand my anxiety and never made me feel embarrassed, judged, rushed, or uncomfortable. One thing that meant so much to me was that he would do my exam before my cleaning, which helped me feel reassured and comfortable before moving forward. He always takes the time to talk to me, explain what he is doing, answer my questions, and make sure I am okay. I also have a unique situation because my dental insurance is out of state and I cannot use it at his office. I still choose to pay completely out of pocket because I trust Dr. Lebel that much. I could go somewhere closer to home and use my insurance, but I genuinely don't want to go anywhere else. That is how much confidence I have in him. What I appreciate most is that he treats me like a person, not just another patient sitting in a dental chair. He understands that dental anxiety is real, and he has never made me feel bad about it. His patience, kindness, compassion, and bedside manner have completely changed the way I feel about going to the dentist. I also have a personal connection to his family, which is actually how I initially came to know of him, but my decision to continue seeing him has nothing to do with that. I've had a lot of dental work in the past, but Dr. Lebel is the first dentist I've encountered who actually explains what he's doing and why he recommends it. He also answers my many questions, ranging from typical dental care to social media trends. Since I started seeing Dr. Lebel, I've significantly changed my dental hygiene habits. I strongly expressed to him why I don't like flossing (raise your hand if you like bleeding gums) and he recommended that I begin using a water flosser. Boy has it changed things! I think it's the gateway to using traditional floss. FYI He's still trying to get me to use traditional floss. As for fillings, Dr. Lebel is extremely gentle and meticulous. He keeps up with the latest dental research and prides himself on creating long-lasting dental fillings. He was able to explain to me how some of my previous dental work, and the lack of precautions those dentist took, was causing me problems now. When placing fillings, he injects the anesthetic slowly, and you barely feel anything. Something else worth noting is the dental material he uses. Dr. Lebel uses high quality fillings that reduce the likelihood of air bubble formation and snugly fill the previously plaque-afflicted area. He's also just a cool guy.
