I called the front desk of Jackson Clinics to let them know I would not be able to attend my appointment at 5:00. I got the THIRD DEGREE. She would not hang up before trying to tell me 3-4 times how I will be billed for this appointment. I already knew this. She tried to tell me to get a video appointment so I would not be charged. (I'm sorry....all I wanted to do was lay down, take meds and go to sleep. Do they want a video consultation of that? Then she said I have enough money on my account because I overpaid from the change of insurance. (something I have no idea what she is talking about) I have been going to Lorton Jackson Clinics for 9 months straight and have only missed 1 time after calling. (I was out of town and couldn't make it back) You would also think a person representing a Physical Therapy Health Complex would have some sort of COMPASSION when talking to patients. I was sick! And I did not want to get everyone else sick by showing up. I do not feel like she believed me nor do I have trust in the front office after this. She cared nothing about the patient.

In January of this year, I experienced a flare up like never before - which landed me in the ER, followed by an urgent care visit. I was referred by my doctor to physical therapy and wanted to find a place close to my home, as I was unable to sit up or drive much for several weeks, due to the unrelenting pain... The team at Amber is so wonderful! They are extremely knowledgeable and pleasant! Ms. Tina started me on a program that has helped to manage my pain and get me on the track to healing. I was not sure if I would get any significant relief for my pain and restored mobility through PT - but the program that I have been doing has helped, tremendously! For me, the key has been to follow their directions and continue to do the exercises at home, between PT visits. I am so thankful for the Amber crew! The initial therapists were very helpful in my progression, however, following a racial incident…read morethat caused me to be late and cost me $40, it seemed like they stopped giving a crap about professional professionalism after that. The front desk staff were very short and dismissive. To top it off, I bring in my service animal, not only a certified service animal through his previous handler but also I have my own service paperwork from my own doctors I got in April so he's 100000% a service animal. Always has been always will be. I bring him in once he does OK. the second time, I make a PUBLIC observation about how I see his behavior helping my physical therapy recovery, and--I acknowledge with both myself and out loud to the therapist--that I am not interested in having him be there while I'm there because I saw it as a distraction to myself. Additionally, before the session even started, the therapist had previously asked if he was a service animal and I had said he's absolutely a service animal. Following that observation, as I left that appointment, I also said in agreement one more time--"this is the last time that you guys will be seeing him. I think that this is my time for myself." So then a day or two later, my tooth is gone. I'm at the dentist office in the middle of an emergency dental surgery and this inane manager calls me and once again reiterates-- not only what you had already instructed the therapist to tell me at the beginning of the session that happened the days before, but also to reiterate, that he's not a service animal and that he should not be at the facility. & at this point it's flown past like a potential misunderstanding and it's just professionalism. You're an unprofessional institution. You are very aware of the communication that you have with your clients and you also are aware of what age you and I both are. I'm not a child and you are not my parent. if we have already agreed to something it is just that. So for you to call me in the middle of an emergency, and reiterate a point as though I'm a petulant child...you're unprofessional and just not a safe space for people to recover safely. I think that people who are in the business of physical recovery should be interested in promoting a safe space of uplifting energy, and frankly vulnerability and hope, and you're not safe. You don't feel safe. You don't feel like a place of anything other than judgment and like dismissiveness. To top it off as I'm ending my relationship with this location and trying to transfer to another location, the manager starts asking me questions regarding information that I've only ever told my therapist! It's insanely invasive and it's insanely disrespectful because you've now thrown back the information that I've said in safety to the person that's helping me in recover as a way to start a conversation aka trying to backtrack and mend the relationship. Ha! we're past that now. I have no interest in recommending this facility to anybody. I honestly think that you should do your due diligence and research before coming to this institution, particularly this location. I think that this should be a lesson to their facility as a whole in professionalism. Professionalism is not a choice. It is the business that you are in and you are in a very specific spot where vulnerability is non negotiable. You have power over people that are in their lowest moments and depending on you for safety, so you should probably think about that the next time this location is advertises that it is professional and supportive, because you're not.

I started physical therapy here a few weeks ago and the manager Kirsten insisted that I make all…read morethe future appointments right away though I was hesitant knowing that life doesn't quite allow people to make plans that far ahead. Then, I was told that I would be charged $40 if I didn't cancel the day before. I recently lost my job and had to change insurance. I had to call and cancel my appointment a couple of weeks ago because I was in between insurance. I called the day before and I was told that the appointment would be cancelled without an issue. Then I got hit with a $40 fee. I called to ask why I was charged when I cancelled the day before. I was told that I had called just a few minutes less than 24 hours, so I was charged. When I told them that I was not told that was the case when I called to cancel and the person pretended like it was fine, I was told that there's nothing they can do about it. So, I cancelled all my appointments with them and stopped going. I'm going to go with a much better PT place in town and there are a lot of them. As customers, we have choices. I do not recommend this place at all.

The therapy has been perfectly tailored for my muscle problems, and I have felt terrific after each session. I have also greatly benefitted from the tailored at-home exercises. Recently worked with Therapist Ki Park for rotator cuff, bicep repair surgery. Each session Ki…read morereviewed his notes and checked range of motion, old exercises, and presented new exercises. Each session's exercises were printed out and given to me so work could continue at home. Ki's attention to posture and safety when doing exercises was very much appreciated. After about 6 weeks working with Ki and out of surgery for about 4 months, I could do full plank, partial push ups. At about 6 months from surgery and working at home, I can now do 2 full plank push ups. I'm a 71.5 year old woman. I credit Ki for my rather fast recovery and for keeping me highly motivated, interested, safe from injury, and challenged. I appreciated Ki's professionalism, attentiveness, knowledge, and dry sense of humor. Terrific therapist.

I've been having on and off hand pain for a few months. It feels very weak and the thumbs seems to…read morebe creating wrist pain. It has also been getting numb and falls asleep quite a bit.I feel like I can't trust my own hand. Went to my orthopedic who told me to try therapy. I went and the doctors quickly established that she wanted to cancel my appointment because it wasn't constant pain but on and off. She periodically kept asking me questions then telling me she was going to cancel the appointment. She even had me do exercises to test the strength in my hand which cause me pain while doing it. But she continued to says she was going to cancel the appointment. She basically just told me to avoid doing things. I've been wanting to do weight lifting exercise but haven't been able to do them because of this.I think she misunderstood thinking this was a thing I was doing a lot and everyday. When in realityI've done next to none because of the hand weakness. So it's very clear the weights aren't the issue. She told me to just not do it. I told her I was only using 5 pounds weights which is literally nothing. We lift heavier things on the day to day. But she was pretty confident saying that was a lot?? I cant even exercise because I can't trust my hand. I can't just avoid everything. I don't understand why she didn't even think to give me a few sessions to see if I could benefit from them but instead she just told me it might just go away. When I brought up the numbness she said it might be my spine, so I brought up going to a dr and she pretty much said that I should just wait and it'll probably go away... Just doesn't sit right to me... this is life changing stuff and she basically wants me to wait and hopefully it'll go away. It's already been around 3 months... when will it go away?
