I have been very pleased with the Jackson Clinic Springfield team on multiple treatment terms. The front desk staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. The Physical Therapists and PTAs are all professional, kind, knowledgeable and worked hard to help me reach my needs and goals. I send a special thank you to Dr. Ben Birley, who is very thoughtful and skilled. He listens, is considerate and personalizes care effectively. Exceptional experience. The Jackson Clinic, Springfield, VA. I just finished several months of Physical Therapy at The Jackson Clinic after a total knee replacement. For background, I had three previous knee surgeries on the same knee, over many years. I never had the benefit of this level of PT expertise during previous surgery recoveries. The PT staff are exceptional. They displayed caring and professionalism at each visit. I could was walking with a walker the first day at Jackson Clinic, three days post-surgery. The walker was gone, and I was walking without a cane in short order. I rapidly progressed under their professional guidance. They frequently checked on how I felt from a pain and endurance perspective. They didn't push too hard, but you do have to push yourself. They offered daily encouragement and increased my exercises and stretching commensurate with my abilities and pain level. They were spot on when determining when to increase the level of exercise activity. The facility and equipment were clean and well maintained. I "graduated" yesterday after seventy-one PT sessions over a period of 6 months. I can easily walk 2+ miles without pain in my surgery knee. After PT rehab my surgical leg measured 10% above the average strength for my age. I have regained the majority of my range of motion, and expect additional range to be gained over the next 6 months. A special thanks to Madalyn, Emme, Brenna, Cassie, Sara, Colin, Rowhan, Tracy, Sara, Kiara, Katie, Jordan and the front desk staff. They all worked together as a team, to assure my success. Not the best care. I was told they would do the hands on modalities I needed, treatments that worked in the past. They ended up spending as little time as possible evaluating, stretching, hands on... it seemed the docs just rushed you through the important part so they could hand you off to the tech to do exercises I could easily do at home and not actually working on my injuries. (While the "evidence" may support your treatment plans, it seems convenient that the evidence supports the easiest laziest thing for your docs to get us in, get us out and get paid... Best physical therapy experience ever! (Springfield location) Coming in the first day in early June until I finished my treatment in mid August, the staff at the front desk were friendly and welcoming. While receiving treatment I worked with some amazing people - Renae, Leila, Lindsay, and Brenna. During the 30 minutes with the PT, they checked in with me to see how I was progressing, listened to/answered my questions, and provided great encouragement in my journey to healing. The rest of my appointment time was spent with my exercise specialist who helped me continue to work on different stretches and exercises. Each time I went in, I felt a positive and encouraging atmosphere. I felt like each staff member cared about me and made sure I was on the road to recovery. read more

I was thrilled to find that the Jackson Clinics had retained the quality of care over the many years that I've been coming. The friendly vibe of the facility can be felt the minute you step through the door. And, whenever I had a musculoskeletal problem, the combination of a Physical Therapist, PT and an Exercise Trainer would resolve my issues thus avoiding surgery and reducing pain. What a Game Changer, several months of therapy instead of more than several months of recovery from the physical trauma of surgery followed by , yes Physical Therapy to regain lost strength and Balance. Also one experiences less pain, because there's no wound healing. The first half hour is spent with the Clinician discussing goals, issues, and accomplishments since the previous visit; targeting problem areas with either pain relieving techniques and/or performing tailored functional improvements. The rest of the session is spent with the Trainer who receives specific instructions from the Clinician. The trainer makes sure you understood what to do , how to do it correctly, and how many to perform. They are always keeping an eye on you. In particular, would highly recommend the level of care provided by the PT Renae Soule and the Exercise Trainer, Colin Wakeman at the Springfield location. Renae takes the time to fully understand your issues, take careful measurements, then synthesize her findings with the script from the prescribing medical practitioner. She then prepares the best path to recovery based on your limitations. Collin continues with the therapeutic care by striving to ensure you understand what you need to do and why in order to meet your goals. His always pleasant personality makes the time go really fast. At the end of a session I feel energized. To ensure that continued improvement occurs, a home exercise program is provided. And to facilitate this activity, you are provided with one of two companion programs that can be viewed either on your PC or cell phone. Much better than paper instructions. You know you're in good hands if you come to the Jackson Clinics. read more

I'd like to begin this review with a caveat -- I felt like the physical therapists that I saw at this practice were excellent, with one exception. Really truly stellar and focused on positive outcomes for the patient. However, the administrative side of the practice needs significant improvement. For one, after you meet with your PT (with whom you had an appointment) for 20-25 minutes, you are passed around from person to person for exercises (sometimes more than one person per visit). I assume the point is to maximize efficiency, especially the number of patients that can be seen. While the teamwork is commendable, and efficiency too, it is a bit off-putting from the patient perspective. More importantly, my interactions with the front desk team have, almost every time, left me frustrated or slightly offended. There is a lack of basic courtesy when you arrive to the practice. You stand in front of the reception person while they finish a work-related or personal conversation with a colleague and then, with every indication that you're an inconvenience, the person finally checks you in. Suffice it to say, EVERY single DMV visit I've made (in over 20 years of driving) has been more pleasant. Next, the staff tell you to book appointments out in advance but act like you're an inconvenience for doing so. Their systems do not make the process very convenient either so I am sure the admin staff could recommend system improvements. An online scheduling feature would be one such improvement. There is also no way to email the admin staff about appointments or anything else. Finally, the practice struggled greatly with insurance verification and really seemed to lack basic understanding of Tricare. I'm going to share some detail for other military families because this HUGE practice is one of very few in-network providers for Tricare Prime. Feel free to stop reading here! When my spouse transitioned from active duty to military retirement, we changed our insurance coverage from Tricare Prime (referral required) to Tricare Select (see who you want). The admins staff at Jackson Clinics insisted, that despite having a referral, we were only able to be seen at a military facility after our change of Tricare plans. This is simply incorrect. Since I'm not active duty, I've never been subject to a requirement to seek care only at a military facility. We called Tricare to see if they had made a mistake but all seemed to be in order. So, this afternoon, I contacted Jackson Clinics to request that they conduct a new insurance verification. I could have been talking to a wall. Not only was I soundly ignored, but I was placed on hold for indeterminate periods of time during the call, without being told the purpose. Then, the staff person kept trying to explain that I had "direct care" and needed to be seen at a military hospital. After several painful rounds of trying to explain myself, and in consideration of my prior experiences with the administrative staff at this practice, I decided to seek care elsewhere. I hope the excellent providers I saw have enough sway over the administrative components of the practice to encourage some changes. read more

Shravya and Emmett at the Springfield Clinic are AMAZING. I was so nervous to go to physical therapy, and their attitudes and professionalism made me realize that there was no need to be nervous. Shravya listened to all of my concerns, addressed them, and regularly had me surprised by what she figured out about my back issues just from listening to my list of complaints. Emmett made the work out piece of PT a great experience- he's knowledgeable, explained how they would help, and I felt confident in his judgment related to the workouts! I chose the Jackson Clinics in Springfield just for their convenient location. I'm so glad I did! My experience at the Springfield location over several months was great from start to finish. The administration staff are professional, courteous, and consistent in their coverage of everything from payment, insurance, scheduling, and appointment reminders. I have been coming here for lower back stress, stiffness, and tightness due to poor posture from office job. My PT experience has been wonderful so far all thanks to my Physical Therapist Erin. She is amazing and really knows what she is doing! She understood my issues and has been very helpful in relieving the lower back stiffness and coming up with a home care plan for me. My orthopedic doctor and his staff recommended The Jackson Clinics, for which I'm very thankful. Shravya, my PT at Jackson Clinics, and Alex, my trainer there, were outstanding in every way. They thoroughly evaluated my many back problems, taught me exercises, and provided me with much encouragement & hope. What I liked best is that they explained why & how the exercises were needed and would help me. After "graduating" from their program, I continue to do the exercises at home. Being a senior citizen, I previously had PT for knee & shoulder replacements at other clinics. I think I made better and faster progress with Shravya and Alex than I did with my other PT experiences. The Jackson Clinic helped me with a knee and leg issue. They are amazing, very knowledgeable and very friendly. The administrator at the front desk is one of the nicest people ever!! She always makes me feel welcome and at home. I then get to see two specialists every time I go. One who tends to my leg, with manual manipulation, examination, massage at times, and a general check of how it is doing. Then, I get to see Sarah or one of the others who specialize in the exercises that help me overall and to strenghten the surrounding muscles that will assist in healing and ensure fewer problems in the future. Informed after 5 sessions that co-pays were required by reception, I would have appreciated being told about the true cost upfront. Several months after paying cash for co-pays, required to provide receipts for several co-pays that the Jackson Clinic claims we owe, despite this issue not coming up until the end of treatment and the continual paying of the co-pays and the assurances by one of the friendly and cooperative receptionists that our account had been settled at our last appointment. Corporate billing was friendly, but unaccommodating, putting the onus on us to find a receipt from several months ago for a small cash expenditure. This experience has left me distrusting of the company, which is unfortunate since their Physical Therapists were friendly, helpful and improved the quality of my family's lives through their medical expertise and guidance. read more

Had my first appointment at the Jackson Clinics yesterday and was disappointed in the services I received. When I first walked in, I felt uncomfortable as I stood at the front desk and was not acknowledged for the first five minutes of standing there. I would have felt more comfortable if the secretary would have said that she would be right with me. Come to find out that the woman at the front desk was the office manager, April Runge. I met with Rachael first who was very friendly. Rachael did a wonderful job going over my history and talking about what she was going to do. My prescription called for deep massage. Rachael did not do deep massage. I'm not sure if that was because it was my first visit, but she was just barely touching my neck. I would not call it a massage. Next, I met with Ryan to do stretching and strengthening. When I asked Ryan how his day was going, he complained about being exhausted due to the late hours he was putting in during his first full week at this facility (not something a client wants to hear). He told me how he worked at another Jackson clinic where he had morning shifts, which were great for him. After Ryan would show me an exercise, he would walk away to chat with Rachael and other therapists. At one point, I had to tell him I was done with one of the exercises b/c he was too busy chatting. I asked him a question about neck exercises I was doing only to find out I was doing them wrong. If he was standing there with me, I could have asked him at that time and the problem could have been corrected while doing the exercises. I did speak to the manager April today to talk to her about my concerns. Her response was "okay." I told her I just wanted her to know about my disappointment. Finally, she gave me an insincere apology and asked if I would like to see another therapist. Needless to say, I will not be going back. read more

Very impressed with DR Shravya Kovela as my physical therapist at the Springfield location. After several PT sessions she was able to identify the problem after several "specialists" had been stumped. My years-long problem began to abate immediately after I started on the program she prescribed. She has a very personable and professional approach and I would recommend her to anyone! read more

Over the past 15 years, I have been to physical therapy on four separate occasions. Twice I've been to Jackson Clinics (most recently Springfield; previously Shirlington) and twice I've been elsewhere (both doctor-affiliated centers). The experience at Jackson is far superior to my other experiences. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and the therapists (I've seen Deb and Katie) really take their time to try to identify the issue (or, in my case, issues). They take a "whole body" approach rather than treating the problem in isolation. Additionally, everyone is super friendly and truly seems to enjoy working there. Every appointment I have had, I have been seen on time and I appreciate that the clinic has early morning and evening hours. I would highly recommend Jackson Clinics to anyone who needs PT. read more

I worked with many people at the Jackson Clinics, but at the Franconia office the stand-outs were Madison, Shravya, Alex, and Teara! Erica at the front desk is also incredible! They took excellent care of me and were more than a physical therapy support system, but also an emotional support system. They always made me smile when I went in there, but also helped me heal and taught me how to help myself. If I ever need physical therapy again, I will definitely come back here! I just started at Jackson Clinics in Springfield about a month ago, having been referred by a friend who is a client there. I've used other clinics in the past only to find the environments like an assembly line, therapists are detached and not really connected to you and your concerns or health issue...just going through the motions, as it were. Jackson Clinics is different. The doctors and therapists are very sincere in their work with you. They do work with multiple patients at one time, however, you know that you have their attention when they're with you. This probably isn't always 100%, because everyone's different (the therapists, that is); but largely you can tell they abide by a certain philosophy towards treatment. It motivates me to do the work they're trying to teach me. I'm very glad I found them. read more

After two months of therapy and focused exercises, I was released today. Leila was my therapist and she was absolutely wonderful. She successfully worked on eliminating the pain in my neck and shoulders and my headaches as the result of a car accident in early February. Leila showed a wealth of knowledge and skill in knowing how to manipulate my treatment to gain immediate results when I was in pain and had considerable stiffness. I was impressed with her from a medical and personal standpoint. I followed up with exercise specialist Shea and he was also amazing in his job. He was firm yet easy going. I found this to be a good experience and achieved a great outcome. The staff showed a great deal of professionalism and efficiency starting with Elizabeth at the front desk. I would highly recommend this clinic and particularly Leila and Shea for restoring maximum health. read more

I have had physical therapy only twice in my over 50 life. My first experience was due to a broken foot bone with Kaiser Permanente. It was a waste of time and not worth scheduling time off work as I could do that stuff at home. So when I broke another bone my expectations were kinda low and Jackson Clinics (Springfield) was near my home/work and on the orthopedic clinic's suggestion list. I worked with therapist Dr. Patti Towsley and exercise staff of Stephanie, Amber, and Elizabeth. I was blown away in comparison to the PT I had in the past with Kaiser. The process was explained to me, we took baseline measurements, and I saw improvement right away as well as an extensive home program to follow including equipment. I'm not going to say it always felt good but Dr. Towsley will work as hard as you want to get the desired results. I had told her I did not want to go backwards and we did not. They always had time to answer my questions and review exercises. We got to a point where we hit a plateau and the therapist did research, tried different things, collaborated with other therapists specializing in the shoulder and my orthopedic doctor. Today, I have and have maintained optimum range of motion, no pain, and no sleepless nights. I had several appointments over the course of several weeks and you get reminder emails and the office staff was always willing to reschedule if I needed. In fact, my surgery was rescheduled at the last minute by the surgical center and I needed an appointment that afternoon and April called around to find someone willing to swap appointment times with me. You provide your insurance information once and everything was taken care of. I never had to call the clinic or my insurance provider throughout the entire process regarding billing. I was most impressed by the communication the therapists have with the area doctors and their staff. When you go back to the orthopedic doctor for a follow up, they have all your PT results and measurements. I would recommend anyone requiring physical therapy to get your head in the game and allow Dr. Towsley to create and manage a plan of action coordinating all aspects including the patient's well being, medical procedures, exercise therapy, and home therapy. Jackson Clinic is an outstanding facility and the staff assigned to me for providing physical therapy were exceptional in their ability not only to determine the best exercises for my particular problem but in their ability to connect and make sure the process worked for me. Rehabilitation is clearly based on understanding both the physical needs of a patient and more importantly understanding how to achieve the needed emotional commitment of the patient. I'll start by saying that when I first walked in here, I was hobbling as if I was 120 years old and did not have much hope that PT would work on my back. I had shots as an option and surgery was another. But, I gave it a shot and I'm so happy that I did. Erin started the healing, patient and professional, she got me going by listening to my problems, rather than tell me what she thought I felt, which was great. I could always tell that she cares. Leila is wonderful, caring, knowledgeable and also patient. Between them both, I always felt cared for. Emmett and Shea were my exercise specialists that were super patient, professional and caring from day one 5 months ago, to today, my last visit. Elizabeth and Marcus always tried to accommodate my needs and were very friendly at the front desk. Needless to say, along the way, I have recommended friends and colleagues to them. After seeing my orthopedist for lower back pain, he suggested trying physical therapy as a first step. The Jackson Clinic was one of the clinics on a list his practice provided. From the initial call to my final appointment (today), my experience has been A++++. The front desk/scheduling has always been friendly and efficient (and sends a reminder email of your next day's appointment). My PT Madison was superb--she did a thorough evaluation, asked excellent questions specific to my lifestyle (I love golf and it was causing much back pain) and came up with an exercise regimen to address the areas I needed to strengthen. Together with my Exercise Specialist, Shea, they taught me the proper form for the specific exercises and after 10 or so sessions the improvement has been remarkable. Where I used to wake up with back pain after golfing or mowing the grass, I am now virtually pain free. It wasn't easy--you will be pushed and encouraged and continually evaluated but in the end, the hard work was worth it. I have been going to the Jackson Clinic in Springfield for several months off and on. Although I have been doing physical therapy over the years, this is the finest place I have ever been. From the moment I walked in the door, the receptionist was welcoming and friendly. My therapist has always been Cassie. She is interested, very knowledgable and friendly. I am sure that other therapists are good as well as I have seen them interacting with their patients. However, Cassie is the best therapist I have ever worked with. Her results are almost immediate and I leave there feeing great. Chelsea who assists with exercise is full of life and enthusiasm! She knows which exercises are the best and helped me to set up a regime I can do at home. I have nothing but the highest praise for this clinic. If you have had negative experiences anywhere else, come here. The results speak for themselves and why not enjoy and look forward to the experience. read more
