Really good pizza. Amazing crust, plentiful toppings, it doesn't get much better than that. We got the Gus's special and it was overflowing with topping. The crust was so nice and crispy but fluffy. We also got a shrimp salad, fries with gravy. Very good portions. They tend to be very salt forward so be aware of that. The pizza makes up for everything else though. Also, great service. Very attentive. They filled my water whenever they saw it getting low. read more

Great spot if you're craving a greasy and cheesy pizza. We called in for a pick up order and it was ready in about 20 minutes. Highly recommend the Gus' special which is essentially a hodge podge of a deluxe and Hawaiian pizza. We also got the dry ribs, but it was honestly a bit too salty for our taste so I'd skip it! The medium pizza with the dry ribs was more than enough food for the two of us. With tax and tip the total was around $40 which isn't too bad considering the amount of food we ordered was enough for three people, we were just so famished from a day of hiking so we ate it all up! read more

Great privately owned and operated pizza restaurant! They had awesome daily specials with a cute small town feel. Awesome pizza and worth a detour if driving through Hinton on the way back from a day in the mountains. Its a nice spot to dine in and enjoy a meal. I am so glad I was able to find where the locals go and not the tourist traps on the main highway. I noticed the owners were on top of the activity both walk-in business and the impressive to-go orders as well. For dinner I tried the Cesar salad and a 12 inch house special pizza. Just the ticket after several days hiking in Jasper. Very filling and delicious. I learned you can also ask for thin crust pizza as well. Glad I tried this place! read more

Reading the positive reviews makes me very suspicious of authenticity because my recent experience with this place was not good in any way. Mayeb it was an off day but its worth noting regardless. I ordered and paid $42 for a so called donair pizza. Worst joke of a pizza I have had in years! The donair meat was cut so thin it was almost transparent and the pieces were so few and far between I'd be surprised if there was more than 4-6 oz's on the entire large pizza! Just some scrapings of a tatziki sauce and a few bucks worth of cheese. What a great profit margin for the owner! What a rip off for the customer! As a frequent traveller/hotel user I usually opt to pick up my food because experience taught me that eateries like Gus' often come up short when dealing with one time customers. I believe it is by design. It happens too much! So avoid this place or at least avoid telling them if you are from out of town. I have already emailed warning memos to all my drivers that pass that way. read more

We needed to grab quick takeaway for dinner while passing through Hinton. I found this place on Yelp and noticed they didn't have a menu, but the house special pizza pictures looked so good, I phoned to ask what their main pizza options were. I explained I didn't know what they serve, and the nice older Greek lady said "Tell me what you like on your pizza, and I'll make it for you." So I asked for five veggies with Italian sausage - it was absolutely delicious! The cheese was gooey and 1cm thick on the pizza, so I would ask for half the cheese next time. Great quality ingredients. We (two people) ordered a 16" pizza and could only get through half for dinner! It was good cold the next day too. P.S. I don't think they know what Yelp is. read more

A BIG thank you to the whole staff who: greeted us like family, made us a fantastic pizza that included some very specific requests (I prefer my mushrooms sautéed before using them as a topping), and went even further to learn we were disappointed with our current reservations for camping. Once they found out we were directed to a campground about 45 moles away that butted up to a coal mine, they broke out maps and started directing us, to what we were sure, were old friends and family only camp sites. Talk about going WAY out of your way to make us feel welcome. Oh, and stiff drinks and a fantastic pizza, with late night hours. This is a must visit local business that you'll feel great about. The exterior looks very simple while the interior is pretty nice. When I walked in I was greeted by Gus himself, very friendly fellow. Pizza, Donairs and burgers are on the menu, with a few extras here and there. The quality of the food, outstanding. I ordered two pizzas, both of which you could really taste the quality. If I could I'd stop by here all the time, but I'm rarely in Hinton. If you're traveling from Edmonton to Jasper, take the time to stop by here. This place seems to be popular not just from the tourists, but the locals as well. One minute it might look like it's empty, the next, there's a group of 13 coming in along with other groups looking for Gus' pizza. The place could definitely use an upgrade or two, but you come here for the food, not the decor. Nice server and friendly staff. We ordered two pizzas and the kids chicken fingers. The pizza is great, real, fresh ingredients and lots of them. The kids meal came with garlic bread and steamed carrots along with the chicken fingers and fries. You used to be #1. I was Raised on Gus' Pizza, have a lot of great memories for decades. Unfortunately the last couple of years, pizzas are always burnt, plus items missing constantly. Called in to complain the last time, asked for extra sauce on one pizza(hardly any sauce was put on the beef and onion) while the other 2 pizzas were swimming in sauce(did not ask for extra on the Greek Pizzas). My mom phoned in to complain yet again. Was told by Gus himself, "We have your number on our wall, your the only people who are complaining". My mom thought he was joking and when Gus said "Do me a favour and don't call anymore". So we've been banned for calling out burnt pizza, paying for extra orders of gravy that are always missing, as well as sides. Just wish my mom would've said " If you have our number on the wall for complaining, why do you still send out burnt/missing food". Would not recommend, seeing as the quality has gone down so much you get yelled at. Yes every other person might get a great pizza, they can still make a great 1 out of 10 but after doing this for how many years, every pizza should go out properly. read more

We ordered takeout while returning to Edmonton from a ski trip to Jasper. The restaurant is down in the river valley near the pulp mill. It is well worth the drive! We ordered a medium cheese pizza and a large loaded. The lady at the counter gave us some plastic cutlery and containers to use as plates. When the pizzas arrived they were huge and the loaded was most likely the heaviest pizza I've ever carried. We had thought we would continue driving and eat while on the road. On returning to our car we realized there was no way we could safely drive and eat these monsters. So we had a picnic in the parking lot. Both pizzas were thick crust, they were chewy and very tasty. The sauce had a great flavour. The cheese pizza had a thick layer of cheese and was perfectly cooked. The loaded pizza had layer upon layer of meats and veggies and was impossible to hold in your hand; definitely knife and fork fare. We had enough left over for a snack on the road later, cold pizza for breakfast the next day and pizza in a couple of our lunches as well. The restaurant was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly. We will definitely be stopping again the next time we are passing through Hinton. We give it 5 stars for a small old fashioned pizza joint it can't be beat. read more

Gus' Pizza is like that Christmas present that is wrapped in newspaper, hiding beneath the surface the best gift under the tree. We saw great reviews on trip advisor and decided to come try it -- very very disappointed. The caesar salad had good flavor but was drowned in dressing rendering the bottom half inedible. We had the baked pastas and they too were inedible due to the heavy amount of salt in the meat sauce. The waitress agreed that the salad was way over dressed but nothing was done about it. We didn't eat the pasta but no offer was made to change it -- she said it must be the batch and she would let the kitchen know. Only one waitress in the whole place and she was unable to keep up while Gus the owner sat at a table and laughed with buddies and made no effort to help her. She also never mentioned concerns to him and no effort was made to rectify the issues. There was a bright spot - The ribs were excellent as was the pizza that the kids ordered! Overall meal was way overpriced as we didn't eat most of it anyway :( read more
