Mark the tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the neighborhood. He made several points about the history of the area that I had not heard about before and I thought I was familiar with the area. If you're looking for a relaxed date night and enjoy brews and history, give this tour a go, you won't be disappointed!

Trust me, my husband and I have done a lot of Segway-ing in the past few years, and this operation out of Charlotte is solid, and a definite for any guests you may have visiting from out of town. (Heck, it's a definite for anyone who hasn't been on a Seg before and LIVES in Charlotte!) QCS has different tours, and we've been on a historical one, along with one for the South End. They're always informative, and include plenty of riding. You'll have ample time to get acclimated to their machines-- which are in good condition. (Trust me, some places have old, old Segways that don't quite respond the right way...not fun.) This place also doesn't put their machines on Turtle Mode. That prevents the rider from going fast. Actually, it prevents the rider from going ANY speed over a turtle's speed. The various tour guides we've had here in Charlotte are entertaining without being cheesy and rehearsed, and they're big into safety, as they should be. TIP: Sign up for their mailing list, or check them out on Facebook or call for specials. Prices can be up there, but having a Groupon, or other deal helps make it affordable for a big group. PS: I always like asking our tour guides, no matter where we are, how many people have fallen off the Segway. The response is always kinda funny... :-)

As a first time visitor to Charlotte, this is 1 of 2 places that often gets recommended a must-see…read moreattraction. Other than watching Pixar's Cars, I have zero exposure to NASCAR, so I wasn't sure if it was worth visiting, but decided to visit anyways because it's popularity in the region. I bought my Starting Grid tickets online, so check-in was pretty easy. One of the first things you do is register your card with your name, and pick some identifying images and favourite drivers/teams. As you turn the corner, you'll see an huge welcome screen welcoming you by name. The first thing I did was go to High Octane Theatre, which gave me an intro to NASCAR, which was good, since I knew nothing about it. The next area was the Glory Road area, which is a neat layout of cars from the past, but is probably more interesting to NASCAR fans. It's the the next part containing the immersive experiences - specifically the race simulators and pit crew challenge that were really fun. The extra few dollars to get the Starting Grid simulator day pass was worth it. I went on the simulator multiple times and made the visit completely worth it. The next floor contains more historical artifacts and history of NASCAR. Again, as not a follower, this part was mildly interesting, but probably way more interesting for fans. Overall, I enjoyed my visit way more than I expected. The building and the exhibits are high-quality, well-designed and well laid-out. Even as someone who doesn't follow NASCAR, I appreciated the exhibits. But it's the simulators that made it really fun for me.

We went on a Friday morning at 10am and there were lots of kids as summer camps were all there visiting. While they have a ton of memorabilia and they tried to make the museum interactive with your own profile card that you can program, it definitely could have more exhibits geared towards children. I would highly recommend that they create a young drivers play area with some small size NASCAR like cars for kids to sit in and pretend play. It's just such a missed opportunity. Is nice my husband was able to bring my toddler on his lap in the simulator which seemed fun. But all the no touch cars on display is like a child's worst nightmare. They just want to touch all the cars. This museum is so clean though and plenty of space and bathrooms! They had this changing out crew simulations for older kids and adults which is cool but a bit loud. There was a kids make your own car table with creations and a ramp, my toddler enjoyed that a lot. It's nice the museum also has a small cafe and a nice gift shop with die cast models of the race cars. I wish they had toddler size race jackets!

But my college age son got a student rate and my husband was free. Nice perk, they also do this on Mother's Day, in case you didn't know for next year. I didn't take too many photos of the artwork. The special exhibit is quite large and there is a lot to see. There are two floors full of different types of art and sculptures. Really has so much to see here. I love where the Mint is located, too. Across the street is a green space with a few restaurants and a beautiful church that we visited while waiting for the museum to open at 1pm. Sunday. The entrance fee is good for two consecutive days so if you are staying close by, go back and walk through again. Lots to see. There is also a restaurant attached to the building that was very busy. They had live music as well.

What a great experience! First of all Caleb, our driver and tour guide was top tier excellent and professional! Not bad for a Massachusetts transplant! He's been in the CLT going on four years and has a solid understanding of the history of CLT. The tour is amazing with essentially a focus on the four Wards. You'll see a 'behind' the scenes view of some of CLT's great statues and historically relevant buildings, business' and homes in Fourth Ward. There are seat belts in the Golf Cart, rear view mirrors, flashers and headlights we all felt very safe. Caleb is very friendly and allows for interactive engagement so you have an opportunity to ask questions and have a dialogue. Easy to find on the sidewalk fronting 7th street and the garage at Seventh Street Market. I especially liked the tour of Fourth Ward and drive by of all the older and historic homes.

Our first trip was to the Amalfi coast, never could I imagine a more wonderful experience. Every minute from arriving in Rome, to arriving in Positano for 8 nights, and returning to Rome was amazing. Our journey director was outstanding. Our fellow travelers were fabulous, a group of 12. We would explore the coast from this beautiful spot in Positano, each day setting out for adventure in a lovely Mercedes van. We were mostly in places where we saw few Americans, we ate at wonderful restaurants, and had an absolute blast. We had a wonderful blend of active and down time, we learned and saw so much, and laughed every day ! Amazing! The next trip was Florence, Cinque Terra, and Tuscany, amazing as well. The hotels and villa we stayed in were top notch, our journey director amazing, another perfect trip. This was a more active trip, but we enjoyed every second, we felt like we saw a very real side of Italy, not just tourist spots. The Time we spent on each spot was magical. The charming town of Lucca and the Villa in Tuscany were top of our list. We are not organized tour people, but the small group, perfectly curated Nada's trips are beyond. We could not recommend them more highly.

Finally got a chance to check out this event space! The lovely folks at Lupus Piedmont hosted their…read moreannual Mardi Gras Gala here and it's such a cool event space. From the outside, I would have never expected such potential. The large building is planted very near the tracks off of Tryon & Dalton - just a few minutes from Uptown. Now, I'm sure the space varies per event, but the folks at Lupus decorated it beautifully. Tons of tables, a large bar to the right, dance floor near the stage and plenty of walking around room. Plus, there are two old train cars outside the side doors that are perfect for additional entertainment options - the event last night had a fortune teller and a bones reader in these cars. Per Extravaganza Depot's website, it looks like they are full service event planning and execution company. Capacity wise, the site reads 350 seated and 600 standing and there are adequate restroom facilities and probably 200 parking spaces (total guess here). There aren't too many well put together venues in Charlotte that host these types of numbers, but Extravaganza Depot does offer a great option!

It's a very cool open space with a back deck that has a GREAT view of the Charlotte Skyline and 2 train cabooses that can be used. Not only do you get a GREAT venue for your party, you get access to the thousands of their props for your party. The folks at Extravaganza Depot were extremely professional, courteous, fun to work with and did a fantastic job! I could go on and on but the bottom line is, Extravaganza Depot is an AMAZING venue for a party or event and they did an AMAZING job and exceeded our very high expectations! We could not be more pleased with our choice to go with the Extravaganza Depot for our very important event! We would totally recommend using Extravaganza Depot for your next event/party!!!
