I had to bring my toddler with me and he is all over the place and they were so understanding and tolerant of him. They accommodated my son and me and I am so grateful. I thought this misfortune would end at the door, yet when Melissa Altman RN then met me for my appointment and was also not wearing one at all, she told me I could take mine off if it made me feel comfortable which obviously it did not and she didn't put on a mask to meet my comfort level displayed. I can't proceed with a medical treatment by professionals that are not even taking the virus seriously. Otherwise I think I would've continued with Merge Medical.

She was extremely rude and unhelpful. I was then switched to a biosimilar, and months later I experienced significant side effects. I left several messages with the nurse to have Dr. Smith call me to no avail. I then obtained insurance with a new company hoping to get back on Humira. The insurance company representative told me that my doctor needed to submit a prior authorization form. I asked the nurse to do so and to copy me, particularly since she refused to speak with the insurance representative or allow me to speak directly with the doctor. Apparently, she never submitted it. I found a new doctor, and within one week I was approved for Humira again.

I had a procedure back in Dec. 2025 and gave a wonderful review to include billing , but I must recall my message about the billing process being great. Today , I called the office to schedule an appointment and was told " my account was Blocked" because my balance in Dec was not paid. What!!!! First , I must say I don't have a problem of making a payment which I discussed with the young lady when I had my procedure. She stated making a payment is fine. No one called to discuss a payment arrangement or stated I had a specific amount of time to pay off my balance. With this being said my bill is under 700 and it has only been 3 months and I have made 4 payments 2 payments where I had my procedure (down payment, and balance due from that facility) , 2 payments as of today to Charleston GI which I made earlier this month and one today. I wrote this post because I knew someone from the office would read and want to respond . So I must say the payment isn't really the problem. I don't mind making a payment, but I do mind you denying me to schedule because the balance is not paid in full. Very disappointed in how your billing is set up for your patients!!!! Is this how Roper treats their patients???If you have a specific amount of time for a balance to be paid you should tell ALL patients upfront .To include , give payment options meaning different ways to pay off by drafting from an account , taking a payment out each month to get balance paid off. I would just say you should NEVER deny someone treatment for inability to pay. I must say even though I can pay something ,their are people who can't pay at all and I think this is wrong . Fix your billing process and work with your patients‼‼

In May of last year 2020 I had to get a new debit card therefore when they tried to draft my payment it was declined....well I had to get a new card instead of calling me to notify me they let it sit until February of 2021 and then sent it to the collections agency. Wow just WOW.....not even a phone call to notify me no bill nothing!!!! I will never recommend this practice to anybody. Horrible customer service. It is just very sad that they will not even try contacting the patient before they just send you straight to collections.

I replied , well , that's ridiculous and she said , you're not getting any breakfast and slammed the phone down...i have cancer as I need to eat and have nutrition in order to heal or just to build some muscle, I thought that was very unprofessional when she should not be working at a hospital.If she cannot be kind and patient with sick people. And how this happened in June is while she hung up on me and the administrator said it will not happen again. Well, I'm surprised he kept her on and working because that was just extremely uncalled for.

During the appointment, he mentioned that he had been having migraines and trouble sleeping. The MD told him they believed the migraines were being caused by lack of sleep, and recommended he try melatonin. If this did not work, said they would prescribe a medication to help with sleep. This was the extent of the discussion. We got our bill, and had been charged not only for a "preventive med" appointment, but also for an entirely different appointment - "problem focused." In total, we were charged $449 for a single appointment lasting 15 minutes. So, the lesson here is, if going to Island Medical for an annual medical checkup, be sure to not actually mention any health issues you are having, or you will be charged for two appointments.

My nurse, Meredith, went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable during one of the scariest experiences of my life. She treated me with so much kindness, compassion, and respect. With everything happening in the world today, I was deeply touched by how welcoming and supportive the staff were. There was no discrimination or judgment--just genuine care and understanding. The hospital has a very diverse and professional team, and you can tell this place is women-led. Everything is spotless, well-organized, and filled with staff who clearly love what they do--and they love babies! One thing that stood out to me is that they never separate mothers from their babies (as long as the baby is healthy). You stay together for 48 hours until discharge, which is such a comforting policy. My baby is currently in the NICU, and they even have a program that allows mothers to stay on-site after discharge to be close to their babies. When I walked into the NICU nursery and saw a nurse gently holding and bottle-feeding my baby with such care, it brought me to tears. These women are angels in scrubs. There was no trace of bias or animosity--just pure compassion. As a mother of a baby of color, that meant the world to me. I will never go to another hospital. I'm forever grateful to the incredible women here for their care, wisdom, and humanity.
