After his employees made a clear mistake--cutting nearly two feet off my existing downspout instead of attaching a simple 4-7" extension--Darvis became aggressive when I brought it up. Rather than owning the error, he told me he'd only fix it if I paid an additional $250 for a new downspout, even though the damage was entirely caused by his crew. Instead of taking responsibility, Darvis raised his voice, cussed at me, and called me a "psycho." He also made bizarre and unprofessional remarks like, "Do you know Karma? Karma will come back at you" and falsely accused me of not wanting to pay--despite the fact that I had already paid over $600 as a deposit. He later called my husband and admitted that he had taken his frustration from another job out on me. He offered to come back and fix the mistake, but that didn't change the fact that I was left with damaged gutters on both sides of my property--and a demand to pay more for something that wasn't my fault. What should have been a simple repair turned into a costly and stressful situation. I've since hired another company to fix the mess Yanes Rain Gutters left behind, and I have documented the damage with photos. To make matters worse, Darvis also refuses to stand behind the quality of his materials. A previous job he did for me started showing signs of discoloration, and when I raised the concern, he brushed it off by saying, "That happens over time." For the record, "over time" shouldn't mean less than 2-3 years--that's simply poor-quality product or installation. This company does not stand behind its work. The owner's behavior was hostile, degrading, and completely unacceptable. I would never recommend this company and will never hire them again. I have posted reviews on multiple platforms to warn others and have sent emails AND complaint letters to CSLB and BBB regarding his business license. As a paying customer--and more importantly, as a woman alone during this confrontation--I felt incredibly vulnerable, disrespected, and verbally abused. No one should ever be treated this way by someone they hired for work on their home. Rating: F- (ZERO stars if possible). Lastly, I will continue to share my experience to protect and warn other homeowners from being treated the way I was. You do not get to verbally abuse a paying customer, damage their property, then rewrite the story to protect your reputation. Furthermore, I have documentation of harassing behavior, including multiple calls and texts from different numbers pressuring my husband to "make me take down my review." Johnny thought cleaning and repair would be a better use of the money and that my gutters were in decent enough shape overall. He even referred me to someone else for cleaning instead of keeping everything in house. No scare tactics, no inflated list of problems, no upsell. Just a clear read on my gutters and what he would do if it was his home. Really appreciate it, we will see how this winter goes, First chance I get I will come back to Rain Gutter Specialists and refer others. Felt rare enough that I wanted to say something. Didnt get some of the "sales" type vibes from the others that came out who call back offering to lower the price. I dont like that tactic so Art passed that test. I felt as Art said he who started in the roofing business and working for others and decided to do his own company, he knew what worked and what didnt. My research aligned with what he told me and he uses the highest grade products for the job as standard. The crew started when I needed and did a great job on the demo... cleaning really well afterwards. They covered my landscaping where needed and my pool just to make sure nothing fell in which I appreciated. They also put painters plastic in my garage since we work in there to cover things as well as our family room with the pitched ceiling. As you do get some light dust/debris coming thru since no attic space in these areas. The job went right on schedule and Art coordinated with Culver City building department for permit and approvals. It all passed smoothly. I made some special requests for adjustments to venting which Art happily did without any extra costs. He add more vents than I had originally and gave good advice on the process. My roof had a fair amount of angles and valleys and Art pointed out he could make them more effective at draining water properly. I chose to go with the visible valleys as I liked the idea of seeing them and all the things he got were pre painted and matched really well. Communication was very good with him. His job foreman spoke English which was important as things do come up as the work progresses but all handled really well. It all went very smoothly and you could tell the team are experts at roofing. I decided to replace my gutters as well and the price seemed reasonable for that too. They did a great job on it all and it looks fantastic and now I wait for the big super El Niño coming this winter with a lot more confidence that I will weather the storms. Art said he would come back quickly if any issues and I believe that would be true. A new roof is a huge amount of money and there are sooo many places to choose from. While many may be great im sure others not so much and the prices can vary quite a bit. I trusted Art would follow through on quality... and they did which is very important these days. I have had lots of home improvement projects that did not go well. This is one that gets a gold star.
