A cool, old, wooden hockey rink that's smaller in size and more intimate than what most are probably used to. Lovingly called The Gut. It's family friendly and brings you back to the college glory days anytime you come in here to watch a game. Word on the street is that it's due to be renovated sometime in the near future. While I think certain parts about the rink could use a facelift (namely the bleachers / seats, since it's mostly just row seats at this point) I do enjoy the old timey vibe. I wish the concessions were a little more interesting, and that they stayed open past the third period. Aside from that and the need for newer seating, every place in the rink has a pretty awesome view for an up close experience. Consider getting GA if you want to save a couple bucks and just be sure to get there early. You'll be sitting on the away goalie end but still a view as good as others. read more

Two words for the managers here. Two ply. It's bad enough that the majority of the seating is bench seating but mix that in with the thin 1 ply TP bs you have in the bathroom..... A majority of the people could pull potatoes out of their ass by the end of the second period. Other than that it was a good time. Also don't go to Moe's before the game as you will definitely need 2 ply. read more

I've been to many college hockey arenas across the country and I have to say Gutterson may be the worst I've visited. I thought it was a dump. The outside looks welcoming but the actual arena isn't very attractive. It was hard to navigate. As far as I could tell there was only one bathroom (if there were more they were not labeled well) the seats were uncomfortable. The concourse was narrow too. I love an old school arena but this place just didn't do it for me. I found it strange that the concession stand doesn't sell water...instead they sell two flavors of seltzer water..???? Oh, I love the Gut. Despite being far away, its in beautiful Vermont (make sure to stop by the alchemist in stowe and the burton store while in the area). The area is gorgeous. The roof is rounded and is made of wood. Definitely a very unique and old school look. It is by far my favorite hockey only area i've been in. As for atmosphere, it was great. The locals and students obviously love this team, even durring an off year. I must give special props to the staff there. I went as an opposing fan, and before we sat down someone came up to us and explained the house rules for profanity. Very classy, given that most areas will just wait for you to slip and kick you out. Also, they held the language rules to their own fans as well, kicking out UVM fans who decided to use some 4 letter words against us. Very nice to see they aren't hypocrites. Lets just say that a trip to Burlington will be looked forward to every year from now on. I can't wait to be back. read more
