I visited the jumping complex on a day where the youth national team was practicing. We saw athletes soaring off of the 120 and 100m platforms. that was a really cool experience being right next to them on the viewing platform. The views from the top of the platform with snow-capped mountains in the horizon were very nice. I don't think it's a must visit as a site by itself, but being able to watch practice made it time and money well spent. read more

Lake Placid, NY - these ski jump towers were built for the 1980 Winter Olympics - although the first ski jump was first built on this site in 1920 - and are still in use today for training. It's a neat attraction to visit as one of the Olympic legacy sites in Lake Placid, which hosted two Winter Games in 1932 and 1980. You can book more thrilling experiences like the gondola skyride and take the zipline down, but we only went up the tower via an elevator, and checked out the "green room" for athletes at the top with stunning 360 views. From there, you can climb to the top of the jump via another set of steps, where you can peer down and see the exact view as experienced by ski jumpers. Pretty neat! read more

This is the coolest place to visit in Lake Placid, NY and there is a lot to do! You can ride the zipline, walk around the bottom decks and then take the gondola to the top! There you can go to an upper deck and go to the elevator of the big jump! The legacy passport deal is by far the best and we felt it was a great value. We will be back! read more

What a unique experience in Lake Placid, NY! My husband and I were looking for something "low key" to do in between all the skiing, sledding, and ice skating we had packed into a week in Lake Placid. While this activity fit the bill, the view was nothing less than thrilling. Visited on a cold and rainy day which may have kept the majority of the crowds away. The place seemed mostly deserted but we drove on in and visited the lodge at the bottom of the ski jump hills. A very nice employee explained that the gondolas (SkyRide) were not running but that we were welcome to buy an elevator ticket alone. Perfectly happy to skip the short gondola ride and save a couple bucks, we followed the brief directions to drive up to the base of the ski jump. With not a soul in line, we boarded the elevator to the top of the 120M jump in a matter of minutes. Glass wall-ed, it was a nice view up to the top. The staging area at the top provides 360-degree views of the surrounding Adirondacks. A small screen plays highlights from the 1980 Olympics and related history. Short walkway leads to a set of stairs that deliver you to the viewing platform. What a view. Honestly. It must be so exhilarating to ski down and launch over the length of a football field. The only other person we ran into during our time there was a sort of ski jumping expert so it felt like we had our own personal tour guide. Wish there were some more informational signs, etc. otherwise. Worth a visit if you can hit it at the right time to avoid the crowds!! read more

We had a fun time enjoying this gem in Lake Placid. COVID makes things a bit tough, but we purchased tickets in advance and still had a lovely time enjoying the views the elevator and ski lift up to the top provided. You get views of almost all the major peaks from the viewing area at the top of the complex, along with some olympic history tied in. The staff was super sweet and accommodating and are experts on hikes and things to do throughout the region. There were no jumpers and, again, major construction throughout the entire complex. Very odd vibes upon entering the building - were they open? Were we allowed in there? Was there anything else to do? We don't know. The staff did not say hello LOL. A little *chilly* welcome, pun intended. I would say it is worth it to check out if you're looking for great views, photos, and a fun 40 minute experience. I think there's usually more to see when there's less construction and no COVID :) read more

I am not a fan of ski jumping at all but this was really cool to see. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. The gondola ride up had no wait. Waiting for the elevator up top took about an hour though. The views were amazing and being up that high gives you a whole new respect for those crazy enough to ski off of there! read more

Ummmm soooo cool! Love this! It is incredible to see the jump at night lit up. It was super fun to go up top and see where the skiers jump from. Absolutely incredible! I enjoyed the ride up the mountain and they are doing a good job and keeping it safe and clean. Cute little gift shop. I enjoyed walking around and reading the info. A picture of the real Eddie the eagle was outside on the lookout and it gave cool information about what the training is like. I didn't go on the zip line because it was super cold and windy but really an incredible experience that I will never forget. The ski jumps look like something out of Star Wars. What a great place to experience what the ski jumpers go through. You can ride the cable car up to the foot of the jump chute and then take an elevator up to the top end of the chute. You can't really feel how high it is from television. The view is both intimidating and beautiful. The employees there are personable and the facility is well maintained. There's a small gift shop at the bottom of the hill. There's also a training and practice areas that you can see. Overall, it is one of the best stops we made on our 2 week trip around the northeast. read more

What an awesome place to visit. Long before the X games became a "thing" - there was ski jumping. Who doesn't want to ski down a hill higher than a football field to see his far away you can land???? With modern technology, ski jumping is a year round activity. By using special plastic tracks, ball bearings, water and fake plastic hula skirts - athletes ski jump all year long. It was amazing to see jumpers in Mid August. You can hang out at the base of the hill and watch kids practice jumping off the smaller jumps. We paid $8 for the privilege of riding the elevator to the top of the ski jump platform. (Normally $11, but the ski lifts were not running so we had to drive ourselves to the elevator). The views are spectacular. As is the vertigo. If you are only going to do 1 activity in Lake Placid, this would be my choice. read more

Really fun and interesting! This place was right up my alley, as a skier and Winter Olympics fan. We came in the afternoon right as a demonstration was starting and a kid showed us his ski jumping skills (in July, they can still use the course!). Don't worry about climbing - you ride the chair lift up the hill and take an elevator to the top of one of the towers. We loved seeing the amazing 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains from the top of the jump. I liked how the lounge had posters identifying each mountain peak in the distance so that you know what you're looking at and what elevation it is. Make sure you learn about the history of the jump, from both the 1932 and 1980 games. Even if you weren't around at that time, you'll enjoy visiting here. If you do remember, perhaps you'll appreciate it even more (and how far team USA has come since then)! read more

I can remember watching the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics when I was 9 years old. I've watched all of them since, but never been to any of the sites before. So much history here and still being used to train. We got to see a young boy maybe only 9 himself working on landings on the smallest practice slope while riding the chairlift up. Once there we got to see an older boy jumping from the 70m hill with his coach who was explaining techniques to us. If you only stop here it's worth it, the views are spectacular. But if you take the elevator to the top of the120m hill it's even better. Be aware that the elevator has windows. At the top you can stay inside or venture out for a closer look at the hill itself and even climb the stairs inside to a viewing platform with unobstructed views tailor made for your iPhone's panorama feature. If you plan on visiting a few other sites, be sure to get the Olympic Passport to save some money. read more

Pro Tip: Individuals who actually jump here offer guided tours included in the entry fee. Take advantage of it! We stopped in this summer to check out some Olympic history. After taking the ski lift to the upper level we were headed towards one of the towers when we were approached by a college age kid offering to give us a guided tour. We smartly took him up on the offer, and it made the experience way more enjoyable. If you are like me, you probably don't know a whole hell of a lot about ski jumping. Our tour guide took us all over the complex and took the time to explain a lot about the sport. It made exploring this former Olympic venue infinitely more interesting. While exploring it is fun, along with the views from the top of the jumps themselves being breathtaking, the venue is active, so you can actually watch jumpers practicing year round. In addition, you can also tube down the landing area. While I didn't get to do this as they had shut it down for the day before I could get my ticket it looks like a blast!! Overall this place is part of Olympic history and it is pretty cool to be staring down the same jump that Olympians did. read more

I would give it 2 stars, but I think COVID steals a star, so I'll give it back to get 3. Luckily we went on a clear, sunny day and the view from the top of the tower is tremendous. The guide at the top of the gondola named all the peaks in view, which was helpful in appreciating the ADKs. That any human would launch him/her self down this chute and then fly ALL THE WAY, WAY down there is insane. I guess thanks to COVID, it was very low-key. No real signage or energy around the place. It almost seemed deserted. We pre-paid $40 online for two tickets and they never even asked to see them; they just asked if we pre-ordered and I said yes, they directed me to the gondola. At the top, there were repairs going on on the doors. Nothing going on up there; it was almost like the whole place was asleep. There are no signs about where to go, we kind of just kept poking around figuring someone would stop us if we were off limits. Very low-energy place. Views excellent. The "awe" was medium. I wouldn't say don't go, but if you have to choose between this and other attractions, you might go do the others first. read more

Another great tourist spot in Lake Placid. What I didn't like is even if you went in just to see the complex and take pictures it was like $10 each. The charge to get in is to take the incline to the top, so if you don't want to do that you still have to pay full price just to go and look. There were a lot of activities going on at this venue and you need to stop here but I liked the Bob Sled course better. read more

Wow this is bigger than I ever imagined. You see it from the road as it towers over but what's interesting is how well placed the trees are in the upper parking lot cause you park there and don't see anything! Then you walk down to the base and there it is in all it's glory! The center inside is rather forgettable, some tables to sit and and watch while people jump. There is a lift to pay and go up to top. I bet it would have been better if we went up but we opted out of it. And then you see someone jump and wow! It is amazing watching this. Once you see that, your journey is complete and and you gotta walk back up the hill to the parking lot. They said there was some event so you couldn't park at the bottom, but I think it's always like that. Drive around and give it a try, otherwise you gotta walk up the hill! read more

Well worth the $11 to go up to the top of the big jump and look down. You ride up a two-seater ski lift and then you take an elevator up. How does anyone do that for the first time? The day I was there, someone was training on the smaller ramp - on fake grass that had water spraying on it. I got a great video of them jumping. read more
