So today was the opening day of this new place to grab a quick lunch in Sydney. And to mark it off it is free burritos from 11am to 3pm. So trying to be smart, I head from my office and get there about 1105 only to see a que that went out of the foodcourt and to the escalators. I was dismayed, but then I realised I had nothing else to do for lunch so I might as well wait.
It took about 10-15 minutes to get through the que, and they had some workers provide us with free tortilla chips (corn chips for you Aussies) and guacamole. The chips and guac were actually quite good. I would have put a little cilantro and some jalopenos in the guacamole, but it was good non the less.
I ordered a spicy steak burrito and then loaded up on some habanero sauce, pickled jalopenos, fresh onions, and fresh cilantro (corriander for the Aussies). I would have preferred them putting the extra topping inside the burrito before rolling it as it was quite annoying to take it apart to add in the heat just to put it back. The flavours were pretty decent and it does make a good enough replacement for not having real mexican food for quite some time.
The main issue I have is it is loaded with lots of rice. There was way too much rice and not enough meat. But then again it was free so I cannot complain. read more
