So we load into the truck and search out ice cream on Yelp, within an easy drive of camp. Addie's was a nice drive from Colden Lakes! Since Harlie can't go inside to order, our chauffeur orders his, pays and then babysits while I go in to get her cone. I'm just the ice cream delivery system! The two young ladies holding down the fort were sweet, complimentary of Harlie's beauty (she's SO vain, she knows it!!!) and very helpful. Perry's ice cream, a local favorite, and lots of choices! Cute tables outside, where more Harlie fans gathered to lick cones and gaze upon her beauty. It was a good evening and Addie's was a great find! FYI their LARGE is HUGE!!! The chauffeur had ordered 2! My only choice was flavor, and if you have eaten this week.....a large will have you buying new clothes!!!

I've been going here ever since I was a child. I went to school with the Charlap children. It was started by the Charlap family with their dairy farm with fresh milk that would be delivered by truck and glass bottles delivery back in the day, and they made their own ice cream which they served at their location in Boston, which has been the same but has expanded in size over the years to match the production needs. My friends used to deliver milk for this dairy in a truck like the good old days! When our baseball teams won in the town, we would go here for ice cream. They have soft serve and hard ice cream and sundaes and shakes and floats. Anything that an old ice cream shop would have- they even have ice cream sandwiches and ice cream cakes for sale these days which looked insanely good. There's probably 40 to 50 different flavors of ice cream. They are all made in house and incredible. There is a second location that opened in the village of Hamburg by the owner son, Nick, and it is a much smaller space. Charlaps is open in the winter with limited hours, it is very slow that time of year. However,, In the summer, there is barely parking. There's seating indoors and outdoors. I have watched this place evolved as I have spent most of my life in this town growing up and now visiting my family, who still lives in our Homestead. Of course, the point of dining here vs. a pancake chain restaurant, is the maple syrup which comes from the trees on the land connected to this restaurant. Moore's is only open during the maple tree tapping season. This year it is only late February to April 12th. Maple syrup aficionados have to wait a year to return for this pancake breakfast.
