They could not give her medicine--I had to do it. They did not watch her and she had a fall. They told us they could handle patients with FTD, but the staff that was not up to the challenge. Artis Senior Living- Huntingdon Valley is a "god send." While my wife is difficult, the staff is up to the challenge. Starting with respecting all patients, they have managed to handle her meds, her incontinence and here wandering. They take responsibility for caring for her which gives our family the confidence that we can go about our business without constant interruptions. The "neighborhood concept" has made my wife feel part of community. She has friends and feels apart of an extended family and so do we.

I was not a fan of them moving in due to my perception of "nursing homes" but I learned otherwise in the four+ years they were there. Literally every single person we interacted with from the nursing staff to rehab to cooks, laundry, maintenance staff, etc. was like family. The professional level of care that my parents received (and us as their family) cannot be overstated except to compare it to the compassion that went with it. We were really clueless about what the last years of their lives was going to entail, and the staff here did it so much better than we ever could have. My husband and I ended up getting on the waiting list and now have a deposit down on one of the carriage homes being built; it doesn't get any better than this for end of life experiences. Aside from the fact that the carriage homes are gorgeous, the kind of care that is there as a "safety net" is exactly what we want. The added bonus is us both being on the same campus if one of us starts to fail in later years; not only does the other one not have to move, they can walk to visit, take meals and do activities together, and in some cases actually be together in the advanced care. (My parents were together in Memory Care.). I highly recommend Lutheran Home @ Telford.

My father moved into independent living while my mom had to go into skilled nursing. My father is able to visit my mom everyday since they were located within the same campus. Bad weather no problem, you only have to walk across an enclosed bridge. The various levels of care both my parents have been receiving is exemplary. Telford Lutheran is like the Ritz Carlton of care facilities. When I would visit my Aunt in Florida I wondered why she did not get the same care at her facility. She was paying almost the same every month. Telford may be a little more than other communities but it shows in the care and people they hire. If you are searching for a place for your parents I would put Telford Lutheran on your list to review. You will not be disappointed.

Sometimes they showed up without calling and sometimes they didn't show up at all. They were disorganized about ordering supplies, leaving my dad with no treatment for days. Without the consistency, the wound got worse and he was in horrible pain. Communicating with the owner was nearly impossible. When we finally reached her, she was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. The whole experience was unprofessional from the start. When we moved to a different company (Trinity), my dad got a thorough assessment with a holistic treatment plan that included the therapies he needed and treated him as a whole person. KeystoneCare never did that. They were disorganized and haphazard. The whole experience added a huge amount of stress and anxiety to an already difficult situation. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

They had a brown out with no backup generator. My mom was out of oxygen for 10 minutes before someone came in to help her - she thought she was going to die. Also I was there when she pressed the emergency button around her neck and no one came to help for 30 minutes. Also they couldn't figure out her room temp. Every time I came in it was 85 degrees! Please don't send your loved ones here.

This is the first time that I have been to this facility and I was not impressed…read more I was visiting a close elderly relative and she was crying when I walked in. She said when she calls for assistance no one comes. I'm pretty sure they are short staffed as is a lot of places these days, but I was mad. She was promised physical and occupational therapy, but no one came for her going in two days. I spoke (a little harshly) to a therapist that was checking on her roommate. I wanted to know when she was getting her therapy. I must say, he was very nice, first making excuses, but then decided he would take my cousin to her therapy. Even though she wasn't his patient, he apologized and did a great job with her. I can see that you need a relative or close friend there to fight your battles for you or you suffer. I hope she recovers soon, because I don't like her in this place. The two stars is for Sean, the physical therapist that took time to show my elderly cousin some needed attention.
