My Mom moved into Mercer Hill in October 2022. She was so excited for all of the opportunities and…read moreamenities promised at the time the contract was signed. There were many positives about life at Mercer Hill. Beth Lynn, Activities Director and McKenna Kingsbaue, Associate Activities Director are amazing. They treat the residents with respect and compassion. They work hard to plan trips and activities that will interest the residents and my Mom loved both women. Unfortunately, my Mother fell ill in December and was placed on Hospice in January. All my Mother wanted was to be at home in her final days so I arranged with hospice to have her brought to HER home in Mercer Hill. However, instead of being met with concern and compassion I was met by Daniel Thompson, Guest Services Director with attempts to block my Mother from being in her own home in her final days. While still getting my Mother settled into her bed and hospice arranging care, Daniel came up to my Mother's room to confront me about bringing her back to her apartment insisting that they have never had anyone on hospice on the Independent Side. (so the obvious concern was that Mercer Hill would not be profiting off my mother's last days). I explained to Dan that I had arranged all of my own care and that Mercer Hill would have no responsibilities and as she is on the Independent side this fits with the message that Dan consistently delivers to the residents stating that residents on the independent living side must care for themselves despite their own website stating differently. When I let Dan know that my Mother and I would not be leaving and informed him that I would sue if necessary he stood 10 feet from my dying mother and laughed. As I pushed back on Dan, letting him know that I intended to grant my Mother's wish to die at home he informed me that he would need to speak with Debra Bodner the General Manager and ran off downstairs. At no point during this brief and unsettling conversation did Dan ever ask about my Mother, express concern for the fact that she was on hospice and clearly ill or even ask how I was doing under the circumstance. When Dan returned 30 minutes later with Beth Lynn the Activities Director Dan still expressed no compassion or concern for the situation and very haughtily stated that "she can stay as long as she has 24 hour care". When I confronted Dan about his attitude and the fact that he had the indecency to laugh at me while my Mother lay dying he again began to laugh and told me that he brought Beth with him to show compassion. Let me remind you, Daniel Thompson is the Guest Services Director. His job is to take care of the residents, listen to their concerns and address them as necessary. Dan is never out among the residents, he shows no interest in the residents or their well being. Shortly after my Mother's death, while speaking with one of my Mother's friends, Dan walked by and the friend referred to him as the biggest Dead Wood at Mercer Hill and stated that he is worthless. After learning how my Mother and I were treated in her final days, many residents complained to me that neither Dan nor Debra had any concern for the residents and that if complaints were made by the residents they were summarily ignored by Dan and Debra. An experience I had myself when talking to both after Debra raised my Mother's rent $500 per month (a 40% rent increase) on her first anniversary. Debra Bodner, as the General Manager showed absolutely no empathy for the fact that the residents lived on a fixed income and that a 40% rent increase was in fact cruel and unethical. It concerns me that Dan and Debra are running Mercer Hill as I have seen many negative affects from their obvious lack of concern for the residents and hope that the owners of Mercer Hill realize that a community with many wonderful features is slowly being destroyed by the very people whose job it is to care for and protect the residents, Daniel Thompson and Debra Bodner.

This person and her crew came and cleaned my house for 8 hours, at least thats what they said but when I came to my house I found animal hair and stains all over the doors and floors. I took photos and sent to her and demanded a refund. She said I am scamming her and when I questioned more she threatened me and my family, implied that she knows where I am working and a bad review would be very bad for me and I should think about the consequences. I went to police since she knows where I used to live and filed a police report for her. I hired another cleaning company for less then half of what she charged and they cleaned the house beautifully. This person is mafia, scammer and charges you much more than other companies.

Employees steal from customers…read more On 3/16/20 an employee was caught stealing a Google Home Smart Device from my home. I contacted Anna and she made them give it back to me. Anna's initial response was literally, "Sorry for your inconvenience." The next day she said she had talked to the individual. Personally, I don't know why stealing is not an automatic grounds for IMMEDIATE termination. Anna's solution the next day was to bring back the same crew minus the individual I caught stealing. I told her that I didn't trust that crew. I gave Anna my grounds for continuing the job: 1. All new crew members 2. Anna onsite to supervise her crew. Anna decided that she would rather terminate our agreement and keep my $500 deposit. Outside of the theft, the crew showed little care with my items. Multiple items were dropped on the cement basement floor. I have given many more positive reviews than negative ones and I seek business with great reviews. This circumstance is surprising given their previous reviews.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to find a place, in a hurry, for our father and…read morethey were our only option at the time. The facilities nearby had no beds, so he was going to be over an hour away. We were so hopeful that he would get the care he needed. He had a fractured femur and a catheter. He was at Arden from 8/26 until we were able to get him out of there on 9/18. On my 1st visit there on 8/31, the overwhelming stench of urine was striking. His 1:1 caregiver (paid xtra) informed me that that there had been feces and blood all over the bathroom. When the staff was questioned, I was told that one of the other residents would sometimes wander into other people's rooms and defecate on the floor. Say what? Shouldn't someone be watching them? I asked to see the video footage from my father's room but was told it only records if there is a fall. Total bologna! One would think that it was cleaned up properly but upon my return on 9/5, there was still blood and feces smeared in the bathroom. I found my father in the "common area" with his pants removed and nurses doing an "assessment ". My father kept saying, "help, help, help" until my sister and I went to him and helped to redress him. Mind you, there were residents wandering around aimlessly. One resident was trying to pick up medicine (pill form) that was left on the floor. Thankfully, a nurse caught her before she actually picked it up, but not in a timely manner. Said resident also came over and ate food from my father's breakfast platter. At this time we asked if my father had been weighed. Nope. They went about the procedure to weigh him. He weighed 148lbs. As of 2 days after he was relocated to a much better facility near our home, he weighed 131lbs. I returned on 9/6 and found urine all over his floor because the nurse forgot to "lock" his catheter. No one bothered to clean it up but I did find a nurse to properly reattach his catheter. His 1:1 caregiver was the one who actually cleaned it up, along with the old food stuck to his wheelchair. On to neglect. I called every day to check on my father's condition. Most days I had to leave a message. Most calls were never returned or were returned to a family member who wasn't the one who called. At one point, when I actually got through to the nurses station, the nurse told me she would check and set the phone down instead of putting me on hold. I could hear her saying to someone that she needed info on my dad. On her way back to the phone I heard her saying, "I don't give a shit". She got on the line and said my dad was doing well. I said, " I certainly hope that you weren't saying you didn't give a shit about my father". She stammered and said it was about someone else. Those words shouldn't come out of a nurse's mouth under ANY circumstances! I called another day and was told that my father was doing great, eating and walking around. I asked, "He's walking around?" to which she replied, "yes". I said, "with a broken femur?" to which she responded that she had no idea he had a fractured femur and would notate it in his chart. My father had already been there for 2 weeks and it wasn't in his chart? He also received no PT while there. We had one heck of a time getting them to return calls from the facility to which we were trying to transfer him. Again, I had to call myself and insisted that they call them back and the nurse said she was unaware of any messages or emails to that effect. I could, and did, go on and on but I think you get the picture. PLEASE do not send your loved one to the facility! The care is abysmal and the place is a pigsty. I have to live with the guilt of having my father there for the limited time that he was. I don't want anyone else to have to live through that particular hell.
