The farm is nestled in very picturesque area of Valley center, surrounded by orchards, other privately owned farms and horse stables. I've heard only great things and was looking forward to visit the farm. U-pick event was very well organized, yes there is a dirt road but you will follow the signs and you won't get lost. Its a family event so tractor rides, petting zoo and a playground are the main attractions besides the strawberries. They require payment in advance, but the system doesn't work properly. I tried booking for 3 people and it only charged for 1. I tried again for 2 people, and it still only charged for 1. It's confusing and unreliable. If you're going to require paid reservations--especially for school groups--please make sure your system works correctly. On top of that, parking is a nightmare. There aren't enough spots, which makes the whole process even more stressful when you're trying to coordinate with a school group and young kids.

We came on an industry tour and it was a crazy big group. When we got there they had a couple stands with local vendors selling products. They also had some produce and dips to sample. A while later the tour starts. You get to walk all around the farm, hear how they plant their produce and you still get to pick your own clamshell of strawberries! It ends with a lunch that they make with produce from JR. I will say the lunch was good but definitely different from the vegan one we had a year ago. But very understandable since they had so many more people to feed this time. Mike led the tour and he was great! A seasoned pro and was not at all bothered having to lead such a large group.
