The prices are a little high but it's well worth it to support our local farmers. The fruits and veggies are always nice and fresh. There aren't nearly as many vendors on Wednesdays but if you are just going for fruits and vegetables you won't be disappointed. Angel Farms is my favorite vendor but I do like them all. Atkins nursery from Fallbrook comes down and they always have local avocados.

Most of the vendors were friendly and some offered samples. It's perfect because it's outside the promenade away from the crowdedness (far from the stores & close up parking) and you're not worrying about people driving through. Don't get me wrong - still a lot of Knick knacks and other items to browse/buy other than food - maybe even something like I grabbed - a western cowboy hat. Finally got me one. Sorry - no pics. I wish it was a more friendly place for the prepared food where the market is open later and you don't have to stand to eat your food.

I came here just to try Press Espresso, one of few shops and eateries at this plaza, but didn't realize it was in such a historic place. I initially thought all the shops here were recently build to look like the old west, but in reading about the history on its website, learned that this area has been in existence since 1867. According to the website, it has been the heart of Temecula since then. Originally built by German immigrant, Louis Wolf, it was used as a trading post next to Temecula Creek. After his death in 1905, area was purchased by Arizona cattle baron, Walter Vail, who turned it into a cattle ranch. In 1964, it was sold to developers who turned it into a master-planned community. The area remained vacant for several decades until it was restored fully in 2007. This place now houses several unique shops and eateries, and is also used for events and Farmers Market. This is actually a plaza within a bigger plaza, which has more commercial retailers like Kohl's, Walmart, Marshalls, and several others. Kind of an odd mix, but glad the city decided to keep a portion of its history alive.

I enjoy a farmers market where I can browse to see the options, but this one felt like you had to know exactly what you wanted and get in and get out. One entire side was prepared food & I didn't see many, if any vegan options. The other side is produce & a plant stand. I am very pleased with the plant stand. The guy was helpful & knowledgeable. I got my very own passion fruit plant! A benefit to this farmers market, if you can find a parking spot- is that you can then walk down to the city beach and wander throughout the rest of Carlsbad Village browsing local shops, like the new book store!
