Cool kitchen and dining room supply store. Decent size on the inside. Staff is pretty helpful. They do have cooking classes and a nice area for it. They have dish-ware, kitchen appliances and pots-pan sets. Theres a really cool section for pizza ovens also! They have cotton candy machines, popcorn machines and snow cone makers and more. I wish they had a more robust bar area, but they do have several different syrup flavors. Some things don't have the prices labeled, so you'll need to ask the staff. I ended up buying a shaker for mixed drinks. I was about to buy some Moscow mule copper plated stainless steel cups, but they wanted $17 for each!! You can get them anywhere else for $5-7, or a pack of 4 for $15-20. Overpriced on some things. read more

Third time placing an online order from this business. I had 1 $420 item that I wanted and since I was paying for the shipping anyways I added some smaller items like $1-4/each items. They ended up modifying the order without my consent to drop the $420 item and just shipping the rest of the items totaling about $20 and charging $13 shipping for those items. I found out about this when I logged into my account and tried to track the package. If I knew that my main item was going to be cancelled by them, I would have cancelled my entire order and would not have paid $13 shipping charge for small items. They said that they sent out multiple emails - which I never got. The store manager basically said that this is how things were always done at "all the places I worked". read more

Such a fun place and so many amazing kitchen things to look at! I came here with my sisters for a fun weekend away. We signed up for the sourdough class. It was amazing! Everything Lo made was delicious and it was very informative. I can't wait to start making my own sour dough! The store itself was ginormous. Volunteers Beware! Don't sign up as a "volunteer" for the cooking classes at Gygi's unless you want to wash dishes for three hours straight, eat cold food, and leave exhausted. Gygi's hook is that if you volunteer for four classes, you get to attend a cooking class for free. But of course, there's a catch: you have to work SIX classes to get a spot in one of the popular classes--and that's only if they have room. It's an awful way to treat volunteers. You work harder than any employee, the company pays gets free slave labor, and you're treated terribly. My short-lived volunteer experience changed the way I look at Gygi's--not my favorite place anymore. read more

I had NO idea this place existed until a friend took me here. The interior design, cheffy, artsy, part of me regrets not knowing about it sooner. The financially responsible part of me is glad this place has been hidden from me for so long. They have so much cute stuff in here; I could walk around for hours. They have all kinds of awesome kitchen gadgets and accessories. They have the largest selection of aprons I have ever seen and they all are very decently priced too. I have been wanting an apron for a while but the only cute ones I can ever find are at Harmons and they are way too expensive hah. They carry all kinds of flavors and spices of different things. I enjoyed looking at all the flavors they have! It seems like they also have a lot of items that would be good for a businesses inventory (napkin holders, receipt stabby things, salt and pepper shakers, etc.. They have everything you can think of to delight a foodies heart and more. From inexpensive gadgets to high end cookware, it's there. An astounding collection of dazzling and specialized cooking and baking equipment. I've been saving Orson Gygi for a day when I knew I'd have the time to savor every aisle, and when I stepped in, it did not disappoint. They had everything from pans, frosting tips, small appliances, spatulas to comically large spoons, pots, and charcuterie boards. Of course, they offered ceramic cast iron pots, name brand knives, the industry's best i stand read thermometers, and kitchen gadgets both expected and hard-to-come-by. I did not expect, but was pleasantly surprised by the seasonal Halloween accoutrements, broad selection of aprons, flour sack towels, and the immensely large and lavish homey-looking kitchen they managed to hide in the middle of the store. There were lots of different sizes and designs of little baggies, paper baking cups, and packaging for baked goodies. I could have done without the paper plates and plastic forks and party-type disposable supplies that could be found at a dollar store, or the section with kitschy house decor that could have perhaps gone in a kitchen, but really wasn't related to cooking at all and had a very Hobby Lobby vibe to it. I would have been happier if that space was dedicated to more in depth things like weighted cake stands, a broader selection of spices, or some hard to find ingredients, or more ethnic or specialty baking and cooking implements. I came in looking for vanilla beans and was surprised not to find them. In conclusion, I think Gygi has done a fabulous job of combining more industrial or professional equipment, and trendy embellished items for the more accomplished home chef. It's the perfect place to gift shop for someone who loves to cook, and it's good to peruse this place to keep in mind what they offer in case you need that specialized something an advanced recipe calls for. read more

I bake and decorate about 2 cakes a week for my baking instagram so Orson Gygi has become my home away from home. They have a plethora of baking tools, ingredients, and kitchen utensils. What I love about Gygi is the fact that they have tools for pretty much every baking category and I always get new inspiration every time I go. I do mostly cakes but decided to start practicing sugar cookies, and Gygi has an entire wall dedicated to cookie cutters. Need tools for a cake? I guarantee they have it. They have every color of Americolor gel coloring, edible glitter, fondant, fondant cutters, every kind of offset spatula, all different cake pans, and so much more. Think of it as a Restaurant Depot lite, a place where average folks can peruse professional gear and ingredients with no need to be a chef on a payroll. It looks like a plain warehouse on the outside but it's open to the public. Looking for a chef's coat? They have 'em. How about professional cookware or bakeware? Yep. You'll find everything from concession supplies (popcorn bags, cotton candy machines, snow cone syrup, ice cream scoops), party plates and supplies, chocolates for candy making, espresso spoons, fondant, odd-sized bakeware, cutting boards, whisks, and everything under the sun for home cooks. This is a fantastic place if you are planning a party as they have paper plates and napkins and themed items year 'round. Bakers will particularly be in heaven here. I've struggled a bit to decide on a rating. I think they've earned more of a 3.5, but I just don't feel they quite deserve a 4 star, so I'm rounding down to 3. Orson Gygi is a large kitchen store that leans more toward ingredients, and sweet ones at that (vs, say, Spoons and Spices that is more about the tools). They have a large selection of chocolate and flavored chips (they do also carry some better brands like Guittard and Callebaut), cocoa powder, lots of candies, flavoring oils, sprinkles, syrups, cotton candy floss, etc. On the non-food side they have dish towels, aprons, some dishes, commercial types of mixing bowls and tools, chocolate molds, TONS of paper plates, napkins, and other disposable serving options, plus they have a whole section of lovely Le Creuset products. They also offer classes and demonstrations. This sounds like my dream sort of store, but there are a couple things that make me like it less than I'd expect. 1)The ingredients they offer aren't necessarily high-quality. I feel like they lean more toward the old-fashioned end, and a lot of them are full of preservatives and junk, and are just quick options for baking, like mixes, rather than the actual straight ingredients you would use. 2) Prices seem pretty high on most items for the quality they offer. 3) This is just a little inconvenient, but they are located in a sort of weird spot. It's almost right off I-15, but there is nothing else of interest around, so it makes me less likely to visit. The items I tend to buy are their Callebaut chocolate chips, cocoa powder, wafer paper that I couldn't find anywhere else, and their mushroom popcorn kernels (these are like gigantic popcorn and are actually pretty cool). I do appreciate their large selection, it's just not my favorite kitchen supply store. read more

Heart, heart, heart. Forget the fancy cars, or the endless video games, or the noisy fluff that some people spend their money on. This is my temptation. This is the place that tickles me with possibilities and that has me wandering the aisles thinking about all the food projects I might come up with. Recently I was in search of more exotic flavors of drink syrup, as well as brightly colored straws. I found those, and also a finer grid cooling rack than I currently have that needed to make its way home with me for lots of ganche pouring projects, or trips into the smoker, or other applications, including the normal duties it will have as a cooling rack. I'm so going to buy a cotton candy machine one day, and they have all the materials here to stock it, too. Loads of different size sample cups, picnicware, and the real flatware/serving plates, and so on. Small restaurants might find it useful to see what they have, as well as hobby chocolatiers. I have to insert a dose of preference here as the supplies versus gear go. For the ingredients and the odd and hard-to-find plastic and paper ware, I think you can't go wrong. But the gear, I think I tend to think they get pinched out in the middle--for the really specialized gear I think there are better options in town, or even the full restaurant supply shops if you're tired of messing with consumer level things. On the other end, though, are the more day-to-day items like mixing spoons, measuring utensils, flatware, and basically anything you stuff into that one drawer at home. And for me (and I know I'm weird about this) I'd rather find that stuff at a vintage or thrift store. I like things with stories, and heart. Or precious items that are gifted to you by someone you love, rather than the run of the mill things you buy new and use up. That isn't a complaint for Gygi, more just a personal preference that keeps me from coming here all the time... which is good, because I will for sure buy things I didn't intend to when I came in, and leave with too many ideas for future projects. read more

Gygi is amazing for everything. Their customer service is on point! They have every kind of chocolate you'd need. They're so helpful and knowledgeable about product! Also they have the most amazing cake classes by Courtney! They're the only place that carries an extensive line of sweetapolita sprinkles! (Major win!) They also carry very hard to find packaging as well as super cool gadgets (hello cotton candy maker for your home!!!) and their prices are usually the lowest, even lower than amazon. I can't say enough good! Oh but also...their employees are all still wearing masks even though they legally don't have to! AND they've always had curbside pick up as well. This is only my second out third time here but I love to browse around and look at all the different kitchen gadgets. On this trip I noticed that they have a good selection of traegar grills and supplies. We also found a good selection of sugar free syrups that go well in coffee. The Irish Creme is great in a latte. We also bought coconut for sodas and vanilla, all sugar free. This visit they had a huge selection of chocolate for dipping that my mom uses so she grabbed a huge bar of that. Although the shop is one of many wonders, this review is for the cooking classes they offer. Because no matter how good you think your cooking skills are, after seeing all the gadgets they sell you will question your abilities like... "Do I know how to use any of these things?" I attended a pasta making class taught by chef Tom Call. We were taught how to make: Potato Gnocchi Parsley and sage pesto, buerre monte Ricotta Cavatelli Italian sausage ragu, roasted garlic The class was 3 hours long and had me wishing I wore better shoes. No sitting happened until we ate. So you have been warned. WEAR COMFY SHOES or your feet will be screamin' The class cost $65. Which in comparison to the classes offered at the Culinary Institute seemed like a good deal. They had us in groups of 3 and I felt like I was given the chance to experience the whole cooking process myself even though I had to share the load with two other people. Chef Tom would demonstrate then we would ask questions and execute. There were a few staff members there to also help us along the way. The class was held in a clean spacious kitchen with plenty of room for all of us. One thing I loved was that the group attending was very diverse. We had a grandfather with his young granddaughter, a middle aged couple on a date, a new mom & a group of ladies having a girl's night. It Felt comfortable for all of us. There was a group that had allergies and were vegetarian that didn't notify the store previously but they handled it very well and the chef made it work for them on the fly! So kudos to Chef Tom and Orson Gygi for that. If you do have anything similar they mentioned that you should just email them directly and let them know beforehand. Which makes sense. If it says sausage ragu, I imagine there will be, you know, meat involved!? After all the cooking was done we all sat down and ate our creations. There was so much food! It was hard to wait until almost 9 pm to eat dinner. So just keep that in mind when coming. Eat a snack before you come, maybe a power bar to give you extra Energy too! I had a couple small issues. One being that we never ended up making the roasted garlic or the burere monte. It's a simple enough thing to make but I was sad when I realized it didn't happen. Also at the end we had SOO MUCH left over food and because they don't have a permit as a restaurant they could not let us take it home. So I just paid $65 for this class & rolled all this pasta by hand and we can't even have it all?? Serious sad face! Maybe it's my poor upbringing but that made me pretty frustrated. I'm sure the staff ate some but that only made me feel a little bit better. But overall it was a great experience and I definitely want to go back. They even gave each of us our own apron to take home and a 10% off your next purchase coupon as a thank you. read more

I am going to be perfect honest here, I am not a cook. I do not enjoy cooking all that much or that often. I will do it, and I love to look at new recipes. I also like to try to cook new things and sometimes they fail miserably and we end up going out to eat, but I have a cooking utensil fetish, and this store scratches that itch! They also have cooking classes, which I have not joined in one, but have a secret desire to, even though I probably never will! All I wanted was a spatula. They have a big beautiful kitchen where I assume they hold cooking classes, but I could find no information or schedules. Workers were very difficult to catch for questions, but it was during the hardcore pre-Christmas shopping season. Prices are high, selection is fair with the entire spectrum of quality. Where else can you find every size of cookie scoop. I love the variety of paper goods for parties and every day events. Ordered melting chocolate from GYGI. The package was delivered quickly, which was great, however, the chocolate had bloomed. I called to ask what I could do and it was the worst customer service experience I had ever had. I didn't ask for a refund, but I did spend over $100.00 on chocolate that could not be used. When I called and said I would have to throw it all away because it couldn't be sold, they said "You have to do what you have to do". Never again. I would rather plant a cocao tree, grow my own beans and attempt to make chocolate than deal with this company again. read more

This is a great place to find all sorts of baking and cooking products. Need a chef's jacket? You got it. Two quarts of sorbitol? It's there. Need to buy that $400 All-Clad pot for your niece's 6th birthday? Turn left down the next aisle and you'll find it. Do you need a french-inspired cooking unitasker utensil that would make Alton Brown cry? It's there. Gygi's is one of my favorite spots to pick up all things culinary. On one half of their store, they have beautiful concept kitchens with different appliances, ranges, etc. It's really fun to walk around and see all of the different kitchen concepts that they've put together. The store also frequently has cooking demonstrations in their demo kitchen. This is a fun place to spend some time. Kitchen gadgets and necessities you didn't previously know were necessities, candy and cookie and cake decorating supplies, colored sugars and edible glitter and chocolate to melt, molds and cookie cutters and dishes and aprons and and and... You get the idea it's pretty much heaven for kitchen nerds. I want to talk about "The other side". This is really two stores. One is the kitchen supply/magic side, the other is technically an appliance showroom, and a wonderful place to get ideas about how you'd like your dream kitchen to look. The space has been separated into a whole bunch of mock-up kitchen scenes, complete with flooring, counter tops, back splashes, sinks, faucets, and appliances. They have done a wonderful job of representing all kinds of styles, from a black and cream colored country kitchen to a red, black and silver modern metallic masterpiece and everything in between. They have rooms full of appliances and plumbing fixtures to see and touch. They also have a hardware department. You know, drawer pulls, cabinet handles... the finishing touches. They offer all kinds of styles from a ton of manufacturers, and if you can't find what you like in the displays, there are catalogs upon catalogs for you to pore over. All in all, from building your kitchen to accessorizing it, to stocking it full of goodie making supplies, Gygi's is your spot. I promise. read more

I really liked this store. Do I lose man-cred for that? They had kitchen supplies in quantities I can scarcely imagine needing, and many at very reasonable prices, far better than that of more "fancy" kitchen stores such as Sur La Table or Spoon's N Spice. I really found a lot to my liking, and am quite intrigued by some of the cooking classes. This review is to thank the friendly staff who helped my kid with her school project. I am not a baker, but I know Gygi is the place to go if I need any baking goods locally. Therefore, when my kid wants to sell homemade cookies to raise money for cancer awareness, I took her here. One of the staff (I am not sure if I can reveal his name or not) talked to my kid and immediately voluntarily offered her discount on the supplies she need. The fundraising went very well, so we had to get more bags, the same staff recognized us and offered us same discount.
