My family of four LOVES GymFit! We were first introduced to GymFit at their Yelp event, and then I hosted my husband's surprise 40th birthday party here. Both great experiences. Oh and our two girls (8 and 5 years old) attended summer camp here for two weeks. The Yelp event gave us a taste of all that they offer. Fun exercise classes, aerial silks, ninja warrior courses, a huge gym for gymnasts and whoever, etc. The building isn't brand new but seems to be on the newer side as it was fairly clean (for a gym) and seemed to be in good condition (per my limited knowledge and observations lol). The staff is very enthusiastic and helpful. I might add that they are super fit, but I guess you would expect that in a gym anyway. They seem to definitely live by the philosophy of being healthy and taking care of your body. But enough of that... My two daughters' reviews were closer to 4/5 stars, but that's more due to their expected "water days" being rained out with the unexpected summer tropical storm. I wouldn't necessarily say this is a camp where they'll learn a lot, but it does promote a healthy body and exercise being a necessary step to achieving that. My 5 year old claimed to be watching a lot of movies, but I took that with a grain of salt. She's 5 of course, so I'm not always sure if she's just exaggerating and I get that her class was younger aged and probably needed more rest time. And of course the no water days could have led to more movie time. No worries though as she certainly wasn't complaining. They also offer a Friday night kids' night out that we plan to try soon. My girls are excited for this and so am I as I hope to be a fly on the wall. That's because I wanna go back myself. My husband's party was a blast. We chose to pay for the Knockerball party, and can you say, "hilarious?!" And a bit painful. Kind of like a bubble-wrapped car wreck Overall so much fun for those who participated and for those who watched. My dad posted a video of 4 of us going at it for 4 minutes, and my cousin commented, "this has to be the best video on the internet right now." So long story short, definitely go here. Check it out. Support local. Plan a party here. Birthday, work team building, anything. If the party will include adults, pay extra for the Knockerballs. You won't regret it and will have some great memories. And soreness and possibly bruises, but those will fade faster than your hilarious memories. ;-) read more

Ok let me just add one more review for good measure. Several months later - the lap pool is still a cesspool. Seriously, these people take no pride in this place. Everything is disgusting, not just the pool. Any other gym's upkeep is 10x better. It's sad. And do not leave anything here!!!! Forget lost and found. The staff throws it in the trash, like all my swimmer's shampoo/conditioner/body wash, swimsuit, expensive shoes... Yeah, these people are something. Highly recommend you go anywhere but here. I've finally decided it's worth it to travel 30 minutes out of my way instead just to avoid going here. read more

This is the best gym that I've ever been to. I'm not into lifting weights, so I love the circus art classes that this gym offers. They're so fun, and it doesn't feel like working out at all. The classes are challenging so I stay driven to keep going. Most of the people who go to GymFit are regularly there, and I've become great friends with many of them. I highly recommend trying a few classes out! read more

Attended a birthday party here today. Facility is so much fun. They started with a warm up which was adorable to watch (6 year olds working on wrist mobility) The two instructors were excellent. They were super encouraging to the kiddos but made sure they were all behaving safely considering the equipment. They spent about an hour split up into groups doing obstacle courses and trampolines and the warped wall. When this organized time was over they let the kiddos run around and do what they wanted while also showing off on aerial silks and doing some small acrobatic skills. We have been planning to visit on a date night for awhile and just haven't made it to open gym yet! I will be back! read more

Signed my daughter up for private swim lessons here through tadpole swim academy because it was nearest to our home. The swim instructor, Haley, has done so well with our daughter! She looks forward to swimming lessons every time. read more

If you like getting sweaty because you like climbing on awesome gym equipment, then you need to come to this place, ASAP! The first time I came to this place I was a little apprehensive and felt a little out of place. The activities that have available seemed really daunting. However, the staff here at GymFit are very patient as well as motivating for inexperienced learners, like myself. They are good at pushing you (in a good way) to try more. It is truly amazing to have so many options for exercise. They not only have exercise classes for individuals (of all ages) but family packages as well. One of my favorites is the ninja warrior training. It really inspires me to become more athletic because I want to prove to myself that I am capable of doing such athletic work. It seems they are always making changes to the interior to provide more training for different things. It's awesome! Go check out the website to see all the packages and fun classes they offer. One favorite is the Kids Night Out where kids can get dropped off and enjoy many of the different programs they offer; it's a great way to have a "babysitter" for a parent date night as well. I never knew this place existed! My mouth was floor the whole time. I'm glad I had a chance to experience it. It really great fun for a family or friends day. Great place for a birthday party too! I want to try the "ribbons/silk" one day. They have everything hip hop classes, a ninja warrior course, and lots of space to run and play. I kind of felt like a kid again. This place has something for everyone! Interested in acrobatics... CHECK! Interested in ninja warrior training... CHECK! Interested in group fitness classes... CHECK! I've gone here twice, once with a my obstacle course running group and then as part of a yelp elite event. Had a blast both times. You will see a variety of people there, from people that are just getting into fitness, to the kiddos, to the fitness freaks. The staff is extremely helpful and pleasant. They are ever changing which is great to see and have definitely seen progress in the time it's been around. I've even seen them perform downtown by the Old stare capitol. I've been waiting to write this review, hoping giving it several months would allow things to improve... I have to be honest, I do not think I'm exaggerating when I say this is the most disgusting place of business I have been to. I've unfortunately been a member here for several months as it is the most conveniently located gym with a pool for me. I swim here 3 times a week and it never fails. Every time, I see huge wads of hair tumbling across the pool floor, and bandaids, tissue paper, and unidentifiable particles floating in the water. It's sooo gross. I have to try to block it out of my mind. I used to try to avoid swimming into crap. Now I just will stop, hold my breath and throw the nasty things out of the water myself because no one else will. Not long after I started coming here, I asked a manager if they ever clean the pool... he said he treats it every morning. That was his answer... treats it. A couple drops of chlorine doesn't take out all the trash floating around in the pool! The "filters" at the center of the pool bottom serve no purpose as they are clogged with gunk and hair you can see from two lanes over. Also, one end of the pool usually smells putrid, because at that corner of the pool there's a pile of mud and lizards go there to die and decompose (yes this is indoors). Not only the pool but also the whole place seems to never get cleaned... I do not recommend you come here unless it is indeed your only option. Or if you have no fear of gross things, then I guess you'll be fine. I am hoping a review helps to change things, because asking the staff about it has not! read more

Acro-Yoga enthusiasts want you! The concept of acro-yoga has recently become familiar to me within the past year. It's definitely an acquired skill and with some conditioning you can probably start doing some of the cool tricks they do. I frequently see posts from acro-yoga master, Joshua "JRob" Roberts, where he is constantly lifting people with his extraordinary leg strength and even flipping people in the air. Trust me, it's pretty amazing to watch. His posts are consistently encouraging that "no experience is needed" to participate, so people don't feel intimidated to try it out. I have been lifted once before and that was already difficult, but I am sure becomes easier (just like with everything else, when repeated). It's so cool to see people having fun, while performing this exercise and it's quickly becoming a fad around the Baton Rouge area. Very nice and chill atmosphere. Not really meant for kids. More for teens and adults who have been working out for a good amount of time. Rookies are welcomed but the obstacles are more for upper body strength. read more
