I love this GymIt location. The staff is friendly and the gym is clean and well equipped. The membership is very inexpensive and the overall gym experience is very positive. I would advise you to avoid peak hours (between 5-7 pm) to be able to use the machines and weights you need. In my experience, it's better to come early at 5:30 am. There's a lot of morning birds like me but I usually can use the things I need immediately or with a minimal wait. read more

Great spot for the price. It's not perfect but it's a gym with nice cardio turf and a decent variety of machines. I never have to wait to use anything. For $26 a month it's great! I used to love this gym. But with a change in front desk attendants, the sound ambiance has deteriorated. - Gangsta rap. Now one of the attendants at the front desk puts on gangsta rap in the evenings. Management knows this and won't do anything about it. It's inappropriate. - Clangs from dropping weights. They've retracted the rule that you can't drop weights, so now, you may need to wear ear plugs. - Shorter open times. Closes 10:30 pm on weekdays and 8 pm on on weekends. Used to be open 24/4 and till 11 on Fridays and weekends, and that was one of its most attractive qualities. Closing at 8 isn't enough for a lot of us. read more

This gym has some good features, see other reviews. They have a great rule that you are supposed to let others 'work in' if you are doing multiple sets. That way, even if you want to do 30 or 60 sets on a machine, other people still get a chance to share it without needing to wait for your long 'transaction'. Sadly, the rule does no good if folks refuse to follow it. Recently a pair of members was tag-teaming one machine and refused to let me work in. They were on it for about 30 minutes -- and I only needed a 30 second set. I asked the (I think) manager to help me work in, but the folks still refused and the manager did not want to pressure them. Instead he suggested I try other similar machines -- too bad the other machines did not have the effect I get from my chosen machine. read more

I just joined this gym and I'm looking forwards to workouts. I had my free trial today since I was considering it. Notably, this gym doesn't smell bad. People seem to clean up after themselves. A lot of machines. Different zones- cardio, turf, and weight stations. There's also physical therapy inside too. Daniel was great, and was super informative and kind. Bathrooms are clean and there are plenty of lockers and showers. There are also blow dryers supplied. read more

Been a regular here over the past few years. Very reasonably priced membership with a variety of equipment, such as treadmills, ellipticals and weight machines. Very spacious with areas for stretching and free-style cardio/aerobics and fairly high ceilings for air circulation. The definitely have a standard to keeping everything in the place clean and tidy as well as having clean showers and large locker space. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff coming in and on the way out. As with all gyms, there are certain times during the day when it can be packed so either come early or come late to take advantage of the equipment. read more

Have been a regular gym-goer for the Watertown branch. Has a good deal of equipment, free weights, newish squat racks, clean showers, lots of locker space and a whole bunch of treadmills. Very good & inexpensive option if you aren't able to invest in your own personal gym and has everything you will possibly need for your workout. They have also been excellent in communicating COVID-19 safety protocols and members wipe-down all surfaces prior/ after gym use. I use Gymit as my source of exercise. I am an early riser so I like the way they open all the time even at 5:00 in the morning. A such, I have never had a problem getting in the morning and always look forward to my exercise before work. I like the hours where it is open around the clock during the week even though I am an early bird. I came home from a business trip from France and went in at 3:00 in the morning . I would usually spend about a half hour lifting and then another half hour either running on one of the machines or on the elliptical. There is always plenty of equipment as well as free weights. When I show up on Saturdays when it is busier, this is never an issue. I like to take a shower after working out, There is something about getting in my car when I am sweaty after working out. I just won't do it. The showers do not have any soap or shampoo. I thought this is something that the gym should provide. Over all I would give it 4 stars. I took away one star for the lack of shampoo in the shower. read more

I have been going to this gym for almost 1 year now. I've loved my experience thus far. All the staff are friendly and the equipment is in good shape. I have not had the opportunity to experience the gym outside of our Covid world, but I can say that they have been doing a great job cleaning, keeping up with mandates, and enforcing mask policies to keep everyone safe. Be aware though, the overall size of the gym is on the smaller end so it gets extremely busy during peak hours and sometimes there's a wait to get in. I really wish the hours of operation were longer. Sometimes I find myself crunched for time close to those 8pm closures Fri-Sun. Other than that, I only have good things to say about this gym. The only downside is the overcrowding which is making it difficult for me to continue membership. I generally go early AM but even now it's overcrowded. Forgot about after work. I was a member for years, moved out of the area and now have been a member again for a while. Before COVID they were good, now they're really great. All of their procedures are thoughtful and safe. From deep cleanings to sanitizer and wipes, they have it covered. Since gaining the COVID-15 I decided to invest in a trainer. Andres is truly the best trainer but also one of the best humans I've ever come across. Since working with him 3x a week my quality of life has improved significantly. I've gotten killer work outs that are always different but also have better breathing and nutrition. I really enjoy the gym's back training room. I feel alone even when I'm not in the best way possible. And of course it's the best spot to take a selfie :) read more

GymIt is a clean gym with with great hours, a nice array of equipment, and helpful staff. If you're in between a BSC and GymIt, I recommend coming here. I went to this GymIt for about a year and never ran into any issues. There is parking which is hard to find in Boston, and the gym is never too packed. They have a smith machine and squat racks, free weights, plenty of cardio machines, and space for you to workout in. The reason why I am dinging a star is because they got rid of their boxing class, and are using the space for personal training. I gladly would've paid more monthly for this. Also, their leg machines are sub par. No lying hamstring curl and they have a strange quad extension machine. However, aside from those two shortcomings, the gym is the best within a 5 mile radius for the price point! read more

Good basic equipment, not too crowded or noisy. No socialization which is fine. I'm sorry they took away the elastic bands for general use. A lot of equipment is redundant, especially weight training stuff, and goes unused. Equipment like machine 98 for multiple arm exercises is usually busy and it is hard to find an opening to get onto it. Please add a duplicate since it is very heavily used. PROS: Bright & sunny, well laid out, clean facility, cordial staff, good selection of equipment in general, great during off-peak hours. CONS: Parking is limited & tough during peak hours and in the wintertime, the gym gets too crowded for me during peak hours (like most, but feels small when it does) the locker rooms could use a mid-day freshening-up, no individual TV monitors on bikes and treadmills which would be awesome, some patrons hog the machines and equipment which was a problem for me, some worn equipment need changing, and a few patrons with real bad body-odor should be spoken to. Management needs to monitor the floor better and interact. Daytime is a mix of older retired folks and moms getting a work-out in while the kids are in school, After work the crowd is younger with a varied mix of demographics judging by the cars & trucks outside. For the cost, the club is adequate. However, I moved on to another gym after a while. read more

I have been to many high end health clubs and I have to say I like GymIt more It is a small family run Gym so they are very customer focused and want their members to have the best work out experience In this Pandemic they have gone far and beyond to keep their customers safe by installing air purifiers and providing plenty of wipes and sanitizers in addition to closing for an hour by mid day to disinfect...wearing mask is a must and staff make sure no one take their masks off I highly recommend gym it ! read more

TLDR; this is a great gym for the price. I recommend it at both price brackets (although I haven't tried any of their classes yet). Clean gym, tons of equipment, and amazing hours (24 hours during the week). Long review: I started with GymIt back in 2014. I had them for about 9 months until I went off to boot camp. They made cancelling very easy and I didn't see any surprise bills while I was in Texas for the next 8 months. After coming back I tried the New Balance fitness center about a mile away and while that gym was nicer, the hours weren't that great (especially on weekends) and after their best spin instructor left I couldn't justify the 60 dollars a month. I came back to gym it and have been very happy. Pros: tons of TVs. I lived here in Sundays. I could peddle a bicycle for miles and watch football. Facilities are very clean. Hours are amazing (I go at 1 am sometimes if I can't sleep) and lots of cardio equipment. They have classes but I haven't tried those yet. Cons: the parking lot is kind of a mess. And not really a con but I wish they had a basketball court! Definitely recommend for an inexpensive gym! read more

I've been a member in Watertown for roughly a month and I have to say I'm extremely impressed. The gym is clean and the staff is excellent. I've had zero issues with equipment and during busy times there is always an alternative machine, etc. I would recommend GymIt to anyone in the area. Great equipment, lots of space and more for a low monthly cost. Only con I've seen so far: For folks on a morning routine, opening later at 7am on Fridays throws the routine out of whack. 10/10. read more

Updating a prior review, ownership here is extremely attentive and involved in making its customers excited about GymIt. There is ample stretching space, free weights, cardio equipment, a turf area, and free classes. I have not done the boxing, but it is available for a little extra, and I hear it is great stuff. Also, the locker room is very clean and plenty of lockers available. There are loads of TVs around, and they have limited the politics on them. It is much better now. A great locally owned Gym. The equipment is meh, borderline bad shape although Brookline is much better than Watertown. The locker rooms don't have towels or shower products so good luck if you forget anything and need to get to work after working out. If I had one complaint, it's that there is no way to use the cardio equipment without staring up at the large TVs that cover half of the room. Absolutely don't join this club. Their are many good features. But because the owner Mathew Harrington is totally dishonest. He promises the world. And then he takes away what he has promised. And when you tell him about a machine that's not working properly. Like the HRM he says, just go out and buy one then. When I machine is broken, the Octane Fitness machine. He tells you to use the awful but very reliable Cybex. When he used to give you a free month when you're extremely active in coming here. He takes that privilege away! And on Saturday & Sunday. When he had over 20 people waiting outside. Some where very old. And we had to call his BEST CLUB BROOKLINE! And then the GM had to come around 8. And this had happened many times. And why did he STEAL FROM ALL THE MEMBERS! Because he didn't give back the 1/2 month of April back! Unlike my present gym did. And because are excellent Governor gave all gyms. March back! And this place hasn't had a good GM since December 2018. Lisa Dibona! And why doesn't Matt Harrington make everything so vague on the present page? Because he only cares about the bottom line! And why does my present gym allow us to just walk in? Because they care about us! And he tells people to make a reservation. But of course, he wants everyone to do personal Training! And people smoke Pot in the gym. And the bathrooms are awful! read more

Not clean at all and a very nasty staff I noticed someone vomited in the stall and I brought it to attention of the staff- the front desk person said "ya, we'll get right to it" About 1 1/2 hr later I went to change it was still there and smelled pretty bad so on my way out I mentioned it again and the response was sorry buddy we were busy. I do not know how this gym even has 4 stars! If you come to this gym for cardio (like I do) and lift at a real gym then you would understand. If you come to this gym to lift then I'm sorry to say...you don't even lift bro! First off- what kind of gym doesn't have barbells?! I don't need assistance machines to lift weights thanks. Second- the stretching mats are crap and it is impossible to fully clean them because of the material. They smell horrible, your almost better off stretching on the floor. Third- I shouldn't be sweating before I even start my workout- the heat most of the time is just way too high....and high heat + sweaty humans = smelly gym. Forth- parking...not enough at all. I don't even bother going into the lot I have better luck with street parking and that's if I'm lucky Fifth- way too crowded. And last- WHAT KIND OF GYM DOESN'T HAVE BARBELLS?!? In this case you get what you pay for- its cheap so I don't know what else to expect. If I didn't already pay $200 a month at my other facility I would still be at BSC in Watertown paying 3 times the amount for a million times more equipment and more knowledgable staff. read more

I joined GymIt in November of 2013, hoping to shape up and get over a particularly rough stretch that had me happier to sit on the couch watching Netflix and eating bonbons than doing anything close to active. At first, GymIt Watertown was not too bad. Not very crowded, a free hour of personal training with Glen (who was a great guy!), and lots of machines all in the laid-back atmosphere promised. That nice atmosphere took a header down a dive bar mens-room toilet, however, after the first month of my membership, as I started to get more motivated and head over to work out more. Going three or more nights a week, I quickly found out that the gym does, in fact, get crowded. What's worse is that it's crowded with exactly the clientele that GymIt sells itself as being void of; street clothes, gnarly tank tops, crowding around weights and cat calling at girls as they walk by. Suddenly it's not so motivating to go to the gym I'm paying $20 a month for anymore. It got to the point that I mentioned that there were members in street clothes, blasting music from cell phones, dropping weights, and crowding the equipment and that I wasn't too happy. The front desk staff didn't seem to care too much, judging by his going back to reading his magazine. Tough job, I guess. I called GymIt to cancel, was told to go online and submit a request that would be answered in two days. Well, it was three, but I'll let it slide. Until my response to the cancellation confirmation went unanswered for a week. Management called, and had the typical 'we're making changes!' speech that I only half-believe. Well, probably only a third considering that their cancellation team couldn't even answer an email. I wouldn't be so bothered about it all if it wasn't so damn unprofessional. The gym promised an environment it couldn't, and apparently wasn't willing to (based on the staff's lack of care), provide. I'm just bummed I wasted $80 there when I could have spent it at any other gym that at least would be up front about being a pissing contest for guys who need to wear ripped tanks and drop pieces of steel to feel good about themselves. read more

This is one of the best gyms I've visited in Boston. They have plenty of equipment, so I never have to wait for a cardio machine (a huge pet peeve of mine). The place is spotless, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I'm not very experienced with liftiing weights, but they offer a free personal training session to new members, so I got to learn how to use some of the equipment and learned new exercises. I've had a couple training sessions now, and every trainer I've had is relatable, friendly, and each offers a new and different approach to training. Overall, GymIt is a well-rounded gym that's well worth the (very small) price tag. Honestly, I didn't even want to write a review because I don't want to let the rest of Boston in on this secret! A gem of a gym, DEFINITELY give it a shot if you're looking for a new gym that's worth your money. read more

I have been attending this gym since June 2014 because of its location near my home and also because of its clean and neat installation. The staff is very friendly at times. The cardio area is enormous so its gets packed during the hours of 5 to 7. The free weight area is just the right size for the price that I am paying a month. I wished the free weight area had a couple of bench sets on this installation, but I can't complain by the price I'm paying a month; it is just that smith machines don't cut it when you are trying to do a bench press work out. Overall, this gym is always clean and absent from mayor alpha growlers so I'm content with this gym. PS: The hours should increase because not all of us work 9 to 5 so its kind d of difficult to try to keep a 5 day work out when in the weekends the gym closes at 8 and during the week it closes at 10 :/ read more
