Another pretty OK OTF location. This one is a little small on the floor side. I took class today…read moreand super appreciated that they had put the benches away since they weren't used in class. We had a ton of space with a 3/4 full floor crew and it took me the whole class to figure out why! I've popped in here when my studio's been closed for a repair or they had a class that fit my schedule better (or I wanted to shop at Sophia's Greek Pantry after...yummm) and found the instructors to be fine and friendly. Got some positive feedback during my strength workout. The members seem kind of clichey (lots of suburban moms?) and it felt like half the class immediately started talking and left before the stretching block once class ended, which I found kind of yucky. The front desk assigns you a spot at check-in, which is different from most other studios I frequent, where you can pick the station number you start on. Not a big deal, but in a S50 class I know I'll be going to the heavy weight rack so I tend to have preferred starting stations. But, I figured maybe they had specific reasons for spacing people out or something. TLDR is all OTF locations teach the same classes on the same day, so if you don't like the workout at one location, you won't like it at another. I choose my studios based on location, coaches, and, at times, amenities. I showered at this one once and it was fine. Parking around back is free, also. And I love OTF in general and go nearly every day.

The gym, instructors, and classes are all great! However, one caveat to keep in mind if you're a…read morenew customer is that you'll need to be prepared to pay for at least 2 months when you first sign up, whether you like it or not. When I signed up, I had to pay for the first month, of course. But after two weeks (which I enjoyed!), I decided to change my fitness goals and join a lifting gym with better hours and more equipment. So I asked to cancel my membership, but was told I'd have to pay for another month because they have a 30-day cancellation policy. So I ended up having to pay another $126 for a second month that I never used. Just be aware of this policy if you're not 100% sure you plan on continuing after the first 30 days. Otherwise, enjoy the classes!!

No aggressive sales pitch, unlike other places I've been that immediately push more training or classes or other add-ons. Incredibly detailed and supportive advice on nutrition within just a few days of signing up. Not pushy about eating a certain way or how many times you come in but frank discussions about what you can accomplish given your motivation. I particularly liked seeing members talking (while working out) about their personal lives, welcoming back a member who'd been out for a while, and seeming like a good community. I'll update this again in a few months with more perspective but the initial signing up and welcoming process has been very positive. - Sept. However, as time went on, it became harder and harder to get time booked. Be aware you are expected to sign up for 3 months in advance at a very high price- if go on vacation or are away less than a month, you are expected to make up the time; membership cannot be placed on hold. The clients are all very nice but it is very hard to feel connected since clients are close friends and one of the two trainers is a friend of clients. A shout out to Abby (trainer) who consistently made sure I was doing the right work-out for me and paid attention to form and safety to the very end.

I must have driven by BodyBurn about a billion times before finally giving it a try. I remember…read moreseeing that it was a personal training gym for a while and then suddenly it looked like a club from the outside. A friend of mine became a fan and convinced me to give it a try too. One class and I was hooked! The BodyBurn 1.0 class utilizes motorless cardio machines and strength sets to get you sweaty and basically just want to lay down and die at the end of the class. The cardio machines range from your basic bike and row machine to the coolest climbing wall and ski erg. If you are a new to fitness and this sounds daunting, don't worry. You don't have to be an Olympic athlete to be able to do this stuff. If you are super fit and want a challenge, you can get that here too. There are ways to tailor it to make it a great workout for whatever level you your fitness level. And the best part? The instructors don't make you feel like a big ol' baby when you get nervous on the climbing wall and decide to take it to climb up it rather than run up it like the dude (my husband) that was on it before you. As a matter of fact, they are just encouraging (and not in that really annoying way that some group fitness instructors can be). There is also a BodyBurn 2.0 class that focuses less on cardio and more on strength using weights and TRX. I haven't had a chance to take those classes but it is on my To Do list. In addition to a good class they seem to be interested in building a whole community. They are active on Instagram, have unique sections on their app and seem to remember every client's name. The *only* critique I have of this studio is the price/class packages. Drop-in classes are $30 (first class is $15) and they have some X number of class packages and monthly memberships. If you want to go several times a week, you are looking at almost $300/month. I don't know why, but once you get over the $225 range for monthly membership, I can't justify it in the budget. This critique isn't enough for me to give it 4 stars though. I'm sticking with the 5! Note: I've never had any pressure to sign up for a membership. I've taken 2 other people with me and they haven't had any either. (FINALLY a place that gets it!) Go. Sweat. Enjoy!

I appreciated the facilities, and the way that the classes were able to flex when the pandemic struck. I gained strength and flexibility, and my health overall improved. However... and it's a *big* however... something odd happened, twice. An instructor mysteriously disappeared, without warning or explanation. I don't recall if I was directed toward a different class or not; I think the class simply dissolved. Around 8-ish months later, it happened again with a different instructor. This time, I recall clearly that a new instructor was quickly "given" the class, but she seemed visibly shaken by her weird, sudden introduction to our class, and the class was never given an explanation of what happened that made any sense. Following this, I reached out to EBP and then located and reached out to one of those instructors and got some insight into their situation. Based on what I learned from the two interactions, I ultimately decided that I no longer wanted to give money to an organization that I couldn't trust to treat its employees, or patrons with as much respect as I felt like they or we deserved.

However, it didn't work for my husband and myself, who despite being a little overweight exercise frequently. The studio proceeded very cautiously with us. We were told that we needed to learn all the moves before we could do anything that would even slightly challenge us. The problem is that the exercises were expensive and took time. And by doing them we weren't doing other exercises that really do challenge us (in our case yoga). After 7 "introductory" lessons with still no plan to get us to a point where we would have even mild muscle fatigue we decided it wasn't worth it.
