Yesterday, I had an unpleasant experience with Gyro King on Forest Ave and gave my review. After work today I received a call from the owner who asked what happened. I fully explained and he apologized profusely! He even went as far as making it right!! That says soooo much!! Very understanding and extremely personable!! I didn't expect to have this kind of interaction and it made an extremely bad situation great!! Don't let the outside turn you away, this place is worth every dollar! We stumbled upon this place after a day at Staten Island and it was one of the few things open at 9 pm. Food: SO SO GOOD. I love greek food and this place would go near the top of my list! Ordered falafel plate, chicken shawarma plate, and chicken gyro. Everything is made fresh to order and portions are huge!!! Plates come with salad, rice, and pita bread plus tzatiki sauce on the side and they don't skimp on anything. It's so delicious. Oh and the plates come with a free drink! Service: amazing! Friendly and helpful service. They work quickly to bring your food out. Everything was packaged nicely as well for our take out order which I appreciated. There is a parking lot right in front of the store! There's only 1 table inside so this is definitely more of a take out spot than dine in. read more

This was my last meal when I was out in Staten Island. I ordered the chicken salad and it came with pita bread as well. It was a great meal to end the night and the chicken was still moist, even though it was grilled. My friends ordered gyro and enjoyed their meals too. The garlic fries were crispy and had the perfect amount of sauce, nor making them soggy. I would recommend stopping by for a quick bite. read more

I usually order Mixed over rice, so far no complaints from me so far, it also comes with pieces of pita. I like the taste of the food, it has just the right amount of flavor. I would either order for pick up or delivery, either way no issues, orders are ready by the time I get there, and deliveries are always on time. read more

I've tried some of the food vendors in Staten Island for halal food but this place will now be my go to for chicken over rice. The rice they use is slightly different than other places that I've done to in the city and over here in Staten Island. Their red sauce is also different and not Spicy at all. But overall I would come here again and try some of the other options that they have. read more

Gyro King's mixed (lamb and chicken) over rice is tasty, and even though it's still not quite on the money, the white sauce is more like what you'd expect from a traditional halal cart than Crown Peri Peri's. The portion is generous with a canned soda included for ~$11. Unfortunately neither one of them make a home red sauce, but they'll give you Cayenne pepper sauce packets if you want a kick. read more

Gyro kings is the best thing on staten island. Im originally from the Bronx and chicken over rice is a staple over there. This is exactly what i missed and the service is spectacular. plus Some of the nicest people work there if i could give 10 stars i would. Highly recommend! read more

From any gyro spot I usually order chicken over rice..... I came here twice and ordered the same thing. They always disappoint. It taste so blahhh. It was rice and chicken with no flavor but covered with white sauce. I feel like the chicken was old. I thought they would be as good as the gyro king in Brooklyn (foster ave or bayridge) but they're just wannabes. Another thing it cost almost 20 for 2 plates. I never usually pay more than 12-13$. I ordered lamb over rice. The rice had this weird seasoning, and the lamb was way overcooked. It was tough, and I could barely eat it. I ordered through Grubhub, and Grubhub for some reason will not let me leave a review, so I'm leaving it here. I cannot recommend this place. FYI, tzatziki sauce is not white sauce. You would think a halal restaurant would know the difference Response to business reply, This customer does not like lamb well done, as lamb is NOT a meat that should ever be cooked well done. It cooks much faster and is leaner than beef, and once over cooked becomes much tougher and harder to chew. I do like tzatziki sauce, but it is Greek and it is not white sauce. The rice I usually get from the halal trucks is very different from the rice I was given. I will call to see what can be done to remedy the situation. read more

When the food is fresh to make, it is expected to wait 15 - 20 minutes. For delivery, you expected to wait close to 40 minutes or more, they are so busy with food orders. Plan your time to order food. I usually order chicken or lamb gyros, the meat is seasoned well. Sometimes I would get the falafel, it is delish and once a while it is a little hard. You would have to remind them not to over cook the falafel but you can not beat the spices that in the falafel mixture. Their yoghurt white sauce is delicious! Their green sauce is amazing! It is one of the best gyro spot in Staten Island. Small spot, no bathroom and has plenty of parking. It is worth the wait! read more

The young lady behind the counter was so nice and professional. The chicken gyros were nothing less than delicious. The workers are really nice here and accommodated us letting us know what is best to try and usually the most popular items so I appreciated that. Service was quick and easy! Had the chicken gyro it was good! I loved the seasoning on the chicken and of course nothing better than the tiziki sauce! I love extra and extra. It wasn't too big and just the right amount and I like to ask them to toast my pita a little longer. They offer a lot from Mediterranean/Middle Eastern down to simple foods like wings, burgers, fries and even coffee! They are open pretty late too which is a good thing since I work the overnights! The Lamb Shawarma is amazing. Pretty much a gyro but over rice. There white sauce was delicious and fresh; as well the green hot sauce. By far the best Gyro on Staten Island. Chickpea masala was nothing special (would not order again) since it just looked and especially tasted like chickpeas doused in oily brown sauce over rice, and cost me over $9. The chicken over rice dish I got here though was decent and I was happy with it but honestly, I would rather just walk a block over to the halal cart up Forest Ave and get a $5 carton of lamb and chicken over rice. This place just seems to serve less greasy halal, and I don't mind the grease. The grease is good. Also, I hate how long it takes for the food to come out. I sit there for about 15 minutes after my order for my food to come out and the halal cart a block down would have been done in under 5 minutes. Also, there's a $9 minimum for credit cards.
