Whenever I crave for a delicious, all-meat meal, my go-to place is always Gyumon, a Japanese restaurant specializing in yakiniku-style dishes. Found in the second floor of a non-descript building in the heart of Makati, Gyumon is my personal mecca for mouth-watering meat dishes.
Each time I enter the place, a strong aroma of delicious, juicy meat being grilled envelopes me and I always strongly resist the urge to hug it back. I usually order the Gyu Santen, which is a platter of three kinds of barbecued meat - Nami, Karubi and Rosu, which costs Php 950. Each order comes with a house salad comprised of shredded cabbage and their homemade miso dressing. For the non-meat eaters, they also have delicious seafood platters for the taking.
The meat is served uncooked and it is left for you to grill it on the smokeless charcoal grill found on every table in the restaurant. Instead of ordering rice to go along with the meat, a healthier alternative would be to order a platter of lettuce to wrap your meat with. The one thing that perhaps makes Gyumon so much better than the other yakiniku restaurants in town is the special dipping sauce they provide. So take your grilled meat, wrap it in the lettuce like a gift, dunk it in that special sauce and enjoy all that lip-smacking, meaty glory! read more
