I am being generous with the one star. This "hostel"experience started off bad and got worse so we left the next day and we were scheduled for 4. First it took us about 30 minutes to find Nando, this was after confirming two weeks ahead of time of when we would be there. He then shows us our room...and the nightmare begins! It was more cave than room! It had no natural light in the room, and smelled damp. We had to run the dehumidifier in the room all night. When we tried to take a shower, hold up, let me describe the bathroom to you. The toilet was right next to the shower so that your feet were in the shower when sat down on the toilet, or you could sit sideways on the toilet, sticking your feet out into the hall. The shower itself had a faulty drain so the shower pan filled with water and flooded the bathroom. Nando did not seem to concerned with this. So, to take a shower you had to turn on the water, get soaked, turn off the water, soap yourself, turn on the water and rinse, turn off the water, wait for the water to recede, and finish rinsing. Now you have the joy of drying off with the roughest towels in existence. Small and course, they actually removed a layer of melanin from my skin...seriously I am not making this up. After drying yourself you also have to dry the floor from your shower because no matter how hard you try, the water overflows. Then you've got the bed covered in sheets that continue to scratch your skin and beds that creek and groan every inch you move. This place was and is a cave. read more
