Located about 7 miles from Quebec City's Old Town, HC has a charming facade and for the most part…read moreis a relaxing stay except for some little quirks: 1. Shower water is very good but low pressure and the spout is flimsy and cannot be moved in any direction; & 2. The TV remotes barely work and you cannot channel surf from your bed. It took me 15 minutes to turn it on; tell the TV to display in English (from French) and surf about 20 channels. I settled for the first Interesting Channel I could find. The beds are fairly comfortable as is the room in general. The hallways are clean and the rooms are clean too. The breakfast buffet is Continental: Coffee Apple/orange Juice Fruit cup fruit Banana Small Apple Cookies (flaccid, greasy and yucky) Mini Apple/Cherry Turnovers Packaged oatmeal Cereal (Oatmeal/Fruit loops) Hard boiled eggs (w/o shell) IÖGO Yogurt (Raspberry, Cherry and Blueberry flavors) All in all, it got the job done. Will definitely consider staying here next time I come back to this beautiful city. If you get late night munchies, a 24/7 McDonalds is just across the street. There's also a supermarket not far away. Staff here are helpful, professional, prompt and welcoming.

Good enough to give you a good start to the day. I love having free breakfast at hotels, because everyone wakes up a different times and it saves the headache of dragging everyone out to sit at a restaurant or run to the coffee shop. I found it pretty funny that they have this huge grill that people use to grill bread. I was tempted to buy a steak to throw on the grill see what they would say. The breakfast area is contemporary and bright and airy. The rooms are also very comfortable. I love the glass enclosed shower. The bathroom is very roomy. The water pressure is excellent. A couple shortcomings were that the soap dispenser in the sink didn't work so well and the towels were frayed. The towels definitely need to be replaced. The location is reasonably convenient for visitors to the Quebec area, about a 20 minute drive. It's also well located between Old Quebec and Parc Jacques Cartier. This is a good location to stay at if you don't mind driving a bit every day to get into Old Quebec.

We booked the executive king suite and it looked almost 100% the same as the other location, which I find comforting because it was what we were hoping for. Check in was super easy and quick. We got our room on the 5th floor (building is only 5 floors high) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room itself was great. It's really clean and spacious. The dark lighting helps you relax, but also can be a bit annoying when you're trying to unpack or do anything that requires a light. The beds are very comfy and best of all, CLEAN! No spots, no stains...just fluffy and white. They've got a deep soak bath-tub which let me take a long bubble bath every evening before bed and it was a great way to de-stress and just forget the world outside for a while. The bathrooms themselves are quite large as well so you have ample room to move. What I love is that the bathtub is at the opposite side of the toilet. There's nothing I hate more than to relax in a bathtub and the toilet is right next to it.. They've got continental breakfast which is complimentary with your stay. I usually toasted a bagel. Half spread with cream cheese, the other half I'd spread with peanut butter and jam. Best of both worlds :) They usually have some fresh fruits and cereal/ oatmeals to choose from. And the tea and hot chocolate station are open and complimentary all day. My only quip is that the power went out in a very light rain shower, and there were no announcements or letting guests know of anything. It was out for a few hours and the bathroom was pitch black. The bedroom had a single working light that didn't light much of anything since everything is so dim already. The staff didn't seem to know what was happening or even if maintenance were taking a look. It took a few hours to get the power back, but aside from that, the stay was great! I would still probably come back to Grand Times to stay just because it hits all the notes I look for. It's not for everyone since I do see people tend to complain about the dim lighting and all. It's a bit more of a modern design on the darker side so maybe not great for families/kids. It's more of a 1-2 people get away stop or a business traveler's stop.

Both were at pretty much the same price point and after reading reviews, I opted for the Super 8 which also looked newer. From the outside of the hotel, it looks like it was recently built. One you enter, you can start to see the age... Check-in was fast, easy, and the guy working the counter was very friendly and spoke English fluently as well, which helped our case. The room was definitely aged and had a very damp odor. Never the less, we weren't expecting much for the price we paid. The best and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Coffee, a mini-fridge and microwave were all included in the room, which was very nice to see. There is also free wifi, but we had a lot of connection issues with it throughout the two nights we spent there. There is a free continental breakfast that includes waffles, cereal, bagels, and a few more items. The food was good and plenty of it. The only drawback was the coffee, it tasted like a rubber tire, but it's definitely not a deal breaker. Overall it was a positive experience and we probably would stay here again.

This is a really nice little place to stay! I stayed here for two nights on my trip to Quebec City…read moreand was very pleased on all accounts. Its a small little tucked away place. A little bit older but everything is kept nice and clean and is done up well. They have both regular rooms and suites with sunken jacuzzi tubs. Wish I could say I'm reviewing one of the suites but I'm reviewing a regular room (which came with a king size bed!) and I booked it on booking buddy through google. My rate for the weekend was about 60.00/ night and i didn't spend more than 150 on the whole weekend including taxes. My room had a very comfy and huge king size bed, it was just me so I slept diagonal so the bed didn't go to waste. Tv, mini fridge, and microwave in the room. I used both the fridge and microwave which were great, but never turned on the tv so not sure about channels. My bathroom was a nice size with a great tub. I had a desk and a couple of chairs. Everything was clean and well maintained. The room was also very quiet despite that there were a lot of occupants staying here this weekend (the parking lot was packed!) Free Wifi was super convenient. Also free calls to the US and Canada from your room. I had a little trouble getting the phone to dial out to the US, it kept giving a busy signal regardless of what I did. The actual owner was there and came up to my room and got it working. He had to go down and unplug something downstairs but was nice enough to work on it until he got it to cooperate for me. Parking is also free and there is complimentary coffee at the front. There is a pool for in the summertime, no gym or anything though. Also they have breakfast or some sort of food option, but only in the summertime Service is excellent and everyone I met was very friendly. When I first arrived I asked if I could have a room upstairs since I noticed the downstairs ones have doors that open out to the outside. Since I was staying by myself as a single female I wanted to feel safer. They accomodated me and found me a room on the upper story with access only from the inside of the building. My room also had a bolt lock on the inside, so I felt very safe. The front desk was incredibly helpful in planning my trip to Quebec City. One woman was even a tour guide other days of the week and wrote down everywhere I should go and discussed the history of Quebec city with me so I would understand what I was seeing. Aside from the fact that there were a few things I would love to have had available, (food options, gym, etc.) this is a great place to stay! They are small, privately owned, and doing their best to please their customers in this economy so I was very impressed. Everything was clean and the room was super affordable. I definitely recommend this place!

Will not stay in this hotel for my next visit to Quebec.
