The poor quality products, shoddy installation, and predatory customer "disservice" dragged out for nearly a year after the initial insurance claim. If you value your time, money, and sanity, do not use CarpetOne. They tried to pass off an inferior carpet as comparable to the carpet being replaced. The laminate flooring was installed with obvious repeated patterns immediately adjacent to one another. The thinner laminate flooring was installed such that there was a gap between the baseboards and the floor. In dealing with Ben, my mother remarked on multiple occasions that she felt bullied by him, and there were several over-billing discrepancies that the insurance company had to get involved with to resolve. Finally, the installer who put in the laminate floor asked to borrow my father's tools, and after he was done, the tools went missing. I do not have any firm evidence of theft, so I'm not saying they were stolen, but the timing is suspect. Of the several companies engaged to repair the property after the damage, only CarpetOne stands out as a bad experience.

He then checked all potential sources of water intrusion in the whole house with me and sent me two quotes: one for the room and one to address an issue in the basement to prevent mold from growing. She encouraged us to apply for store credit through Wells Fargo, and I was approved for significantly more than the cost of the flooring we were considering (probably a red flag warning that they will attempt to take you for more than you want to spend). Later that week, she came to our home for a site assessment. While friendly during the visit, she remained vague about installation costs. As she left, she promised to email a detailed quote within a day or two. After a full week with no word, I had to follow up. She responded several hours later with an estimate. The product pricing stayed within what we discussed, but the labor portion was estimated, but listed as "variable," with no fixed amount or not-to-exceed" number. Additionally, she couldn't even guarantee the final cost or confirm they could complete the job. As a contractor myself (in IT), I'm accustomed to providing customers with clear, capped pricing and a promise we will complete the work before they commit, especially on installation work. Its not as if I was hiding anything from her. She had full access to the home for her assessment. If she lacked expertise to properly evaluate the job, they should have sent a more qualified person. This lack of clarity made it impossible to move forward with confidence. After sending the quote, she never followed up and I haven't spoken to her since. Overall, Francine came across as inattentive, inexperienced and unreliable. We ended up purchasing our flooring elsewhere, and based on this experience, I would recommend doing the same.
