I feel like H&R Block is the Walmart of tax preparation. The lady at the front desk was short, rude and constantly complaining about the employees, her desk and clients. My appointment was set for noon. When I initially called, the lady on the phone told me I could drop off my paperwork. However when I showed up I was told I could not do that and would need to meet with someone. I sat and waited for over 30 minutes before asking for an eta. The front desk receptionist went back and asked Rebecca Shaw how much longer. I was told 25 to 30 more minutes. I know appointments can sometimes go over, but by an hour or more is unprofessional. That's when I ended up going on Yelp and seeing the mistake I made. This location has terrible reviews for a reason. I decided to leave and called the Powell office. I'll leave a review once I have my visit there. Fingers crossed it's a better experience. read more

Poor organization - missing documents in my file. Poor response time - took forever on the phone with rude customer service rep to set up an appointment with them. They were late to the appointment. Are you serious? A 5-star review for taxes? Yes I'm serious and absolutely 5-star! The entire team at H&R Block is fantastic and this year proved to be another amazing performance. Gurmita is our tax consultant for 2 years now and is phenomenal, thorough and one of those "goes the extra mile" kind of professionals. She cares about her clients and helping us save money. I also have to shout out the office staff that is always friendly with superb follow up and over the top customer service. For example, Connie came out to my car as I had my little one with me to grab my paperwork. This is over and above the call of duty and H&R Block continues to earn our loyalty. Rebecca Shaw is horrible! Repeated errors, not prepared for appointments, rude, was 3 clients behind and did not call or even take the time to ask the secretary there to call to save any of the 3 people the drive to her office and the wait in the lobby. So unprofessional. She offered no apology and said she just "tries to give everyone the time they need". Great- but it is a business and you need to have skills at time management if you set appointments. It is unacceptable to have people with appointments in your lobby for 3 hours. AND at least have the common human courtesy to call or ask the secretary there playing on her phone to call! 2 separate times I wasted driving 30 minutes to the office and she was not prepared or significantly behind and gave me no heads up. When I addressed this with her and expressed that it was rude, she told me that if I disagreed with having to wait 3 hours, not being notified and expected an apology for that being disrespectful, I was welcome to go elsewhere next year. HA!! Like who the hell would go back??!! My business is gone. I will add that before her, I had 17 years of amazing and accurate service by Rich with the Powell office, but sadly for me he retired. Last year the new person (with 20 years experience) made so many errors, omitted W2's, etc, that I had to have corporate get involved to fix it all--and I got an audit letter. So to win me back after all that, they assured me Rebecca was one of their best and I should expect a return to the top quality accuracy and top customer service I was use to with Rich once again. Well today, Rebecca ran my taxes and got 3 different numbers each time-and claimed she did not input anything different to cause the variance. I owe a lot of taxes each year and we are talking the variance was +/- $10k difference in each time she ran it. Do you think I have confidence my taxes are right and I won't get audited? NO. She blamed the computer. What a joke. I started my taxes in January since they are complicated and it is today 4/16/23. They obviously are not correct. Now I have to scramble in 2 days to find a CPA to check for errors so I can file on time. AND she charged me over $650 to do my taxes. You can bet I will be getting that refunded by corporate, filing a complaint with them, and never EVER coming back. DO NOT use this office and frankly, after the last 2 years, I can no longer recommend any H&R Block office at all. read more

I came into H&R Block nervous, but Bob made me feel very comfortable, and made the tax filing process quick and painless. The whole process was completed in under an hour, and because Bob was funny, and easy to connect with the process seemed light and fun rather than the usual boring experience you expect with filing your taxes. Zero stars isn't an option. This is absolute ridiculous. What's the point of an appointment if you're not going to adhere to your self imposed schedule. I made the appointment at 6 this morning on the web for 5 pm today. I arrived at 4:30. The time is now 530. No one has greeted us said they're behind or hang on we'll be with you in a moment. Four tax prep people in the office one customer no one is available for this five o'clock appointment that's now thirty minutes late. And how about the fact that the website said arrive 15 minutes early to check in. Check in where? with whom? the invisible receptionist or the non working four employees at their location? This isn't even peak season. It's freaking June for crying out loud. This is complete nonsense. read more

I needed a rush order to file an amended income tax return -- the tax preparers and tax advisors here were absolutely five-star all of the way. They were very sympathetic to my dilemma, realizing that I had made a simple error in my math. The preparer's credentials was prominently displayed, the lobby was very clean and the overall experience was first rate all of the way. They even took extra measures to make sure that my Social Security number was not compromised and so that I would not be victimized by identity theft issues, that seem to run rampant in todays world. I am being audited after this H&R Block did my taxes. The IRS is billing me $7,808.00 in additional taxes. There were two huge mistakes on my 1040. Do not trust their work. They charged me $368.00 to complete the return. DO NOT TRUST THEIR WORK. read more
