For years I have been doing my own taxes through Turbo Tax. However, I've been recently thinking of finding someone to take over this chore for me due to my time constraints. I met Matt S through a mutual friend and discovered he's a tax advisor for H&R Block in Concord. I asked Matt if I could setup an appointment with him at the Concord branch and he said absolutely. This branch is located in the Salvio town square in downtown Concord. Concord is 28 miles from my home so a little bit out of the way for me but was well worth the trip. When I arrived I immediately checked in with the receptionist and took a seat. My wait was short and Matt greeted me and took me back to his cubicle. The entire office is setup with cubicles just like a normal office environment. As Matt entered my data on his computer I could monitor the progress live on a tablet in front of me. Matt said this was a new feature for the customer. In the end I received some money back even after paying my tax preparation fee. Went there to obviously use my taxes as I tried to file online as I usually do, but was having errors in their software that the online chat couldn't help with. It said I owed a bunch of money for federal. Which is weird with how I file. I always get a little bit back. Feeling uneasy and the deadline approaching, I decided to go into a branch asbmayhe the tax experts could help me figure it out. I go in and the girl at the front was great. Polite and helped me check in. However my "expert" Connie seemed like a deer in the headlights from the start which made me uneasy. I explained my situation and she looked at me with a blank stare and said I should go ask the online help to solve my problem even though I already told her I had tried that to no avail. I explained the situation again. She again stares at me like I'm speaking an alien language and begins to essentially Google search within her HRBlock software for literally 3 minutes straight with no verbal communication. I promptly grabbed my stuff and left. I am now more pressured as the local branch can't help me whatsoever. read more

Horrendous experience. I don't even know where to start with the terrible experience I've had here but I'll summarize with the key points: multiple times showing up for an appointment only to be told they forgot we had one scheduled, wasted time trying to chase down amendments when I came in to resolve a CP2000 (the "amendments" ended up not making any difference anyway), having my case passed along to another "professional" without even being closed to being resolved. This all occurred around June-August. Fast forward to November. I receive another CP2000 stating more proposed changes. After scheduling another appointment to talk over the phone, it gets completely blown off. I get a call and a reschedule. The "professional" wants me to upload the documentation I received. No problem, done. Now we're here in January and I have received zero communication. I have left multiple phone messages, sent messages in HR Blocks website, and have yet to hear anything. Won't ever do business here again. read more

I had such a wonderful experience this year! I usually file online on turbo and this year I decided to try and in person appointment. When I arrived, I was greeted beautifully by a young lady at the front desk, I can't quite remember her name, but she wears glasses and she was super nice! The tax person that helped me was also very nice. She definitely helped me understand the problem I had with my previous taxes and had helped me clear out everything. Scary/ frightening experience. I made an appointment online and showed up to the front desk. The secretary at the front (older white male) was very creepy and made completely inappropriate comments and gestures at me the entire time I was there. I was so uncomfortable and left as soon as possible. He even reached out to touch me. On top of that, they couldn't even get me in until an hour later. So I left. This male was even running around the office (yes, actually running) and being very strange with staff and customers. Avoid this place. read more

I have been trying to reach the IRS because I didn't get my 3rd stimulus check. You have to call to book an in-person appointment, but after waiting 4 times for an hour each time at different times of the day and still not getting through, I was in Concord for a brake job and found Tom Daly at H&R Block. Tom was great. I didn't get my taxes done here (did them myself), and I've never been a customer at H&R Block. But today Tom took time to help me understand how to find the information I needed from the IRS, explained what to do to claim my stimulus payment if it hasn't already been paid out, and he even printed the forms for me to fill out for the IRS. Tom did all that, and I'm not even a customer. Actual customer service isn't easy to find sometimes, but Tom at H&R Block in Concord is an expert. Thank you, Tom! read more

My family has been using HR block for years. And since we moved to this area couple years ago. We needed a new Accountant. My sister referred me to Tetyana V. It's my first year filing as a married couple. My husband is an engineer and he knows about tax stuff. He was being skeptical to go in HR BLOCK. He's been doing his own tax through turbo tax coz he thought he knows better than these people lol. But not this time though! Going to Tetyana was a big relief. She explained each line, how she did it. She give advice what's the best thing to do about my husband's idea on his future venture. My husband is finally convinced and a believer of HR BLOCK because of TETYANA. She's smart and she knows exactly what she's doing. For me, the fee is reasonable. And it gives you peace of mind. Run! Do NOT trust these guys with your taxes. We started with them in September and it took over 2 months to even get our taxes (and dozens of unanswered calls) and then there were mistakes. I had to go in to the office to even get a response and completion (on the last day they were due), found yet another error and then the final version still contained the original error. I had to pay a real CPA to amend the taxes (and got a decent amount off what we were paying). After 6 weeks of constant pestering, I finally got them to agree to refund me and now, 4 weeks and 3 emails later, i was notified they have to start over and i "MAY hear from corporate". This is so ridiculous. I'm furious. There is nothing else I can do but email every single day to ask for my money back. I sincerely regret ever walking in that door. If anyone needs CPA recommendations, I have plenty now - save yourself the grief! read more

This place charges too much for what you get. On top of the high cost, their employees don't greet you upon entering the business and show up late to booked appointments. Not impressed at all. For the price, you could at the very least show some customer service. read more

Gina is the best! I was dreading having to do my taxes (again), so I called H&R Block in Concord to see if someone could help walk me through it. I learned more in 20 minutes with Gina than I ever did reading the online tax information they provide with online filing. She was very informative, patient, and personable. She gave me helpful information regarding my tax bracket, write-offs, and new tax laws. I would highly recommend her to anyone. DO NOTTT I REPEAT DO NOTTTT GET YOUR TAXES DONE HERE. Especially by Ophelia. Before the whole pandemic thing we handed over all of our tax documents and tried filing early. Dad filed his but for some reason they had to talk to me I received no phone call until the lockdown began. I call back and no one there has any idea why I was called, the status on my taxes, where my documents are etc. Person on the phone got my name wrong twice and even when they got my name right still couldn't tell me the reason for calling. Got called again and I missed it and called back and same thing. I reached out to H&R Block three times since. One time the person told me they would get the district manager involved since it was "complicated" and couldn't get ahold of my tax person. No district manager contacted me and the last time I called the person literally told me there was nothing they could do. Couldn't get me my tax persons info/email which I eventually found and couldn't look up my profile or anything. We emailed her a couple times now no reply. I JUST WANT TO PAY MY TAXES AND SHE HAS ALL MY DOCUMENTS SO I CANT GO ELSEWHERE. I'm praying they weren't lost now. I'm also missing out on my refund and government stimulus check because my taxes aren't filed. read more

Shelley, a master tax advisor, provided me with exceptional service; I owed nothing to the IRS this year. I am newly self-employed and wanted to make sure I filed my taxes correctly, so I made an appointment at H&R Block's Concord office. I was greeted by a very nice receptionist when I arrived, and Shelley was assigned to me shortly after my appointment time. Shelley deducted all of my expenses from my business so that I didn't owe any federal or state taxes this year! Also, I called the Concord H&R Block office this afternoon with a question in regards to reporting my adjusted gross income on the IRS website, and Shelley called me back in less than 20 minutes and answered my question immediately. Filed with H&R Block for a few years now never had an issue besides the fact that it's crazy expensive to file but they normally get the job done and right. Something happened while filing my partners taxes this year. We have a letter from the IRS I've made an appointment with Orlando 2 times now. And he had missed every single one of the appointments to help figure this out. My mother went in to do her taxes. Admittedly, it was last minute due to an emergency that came up during her initial appointment. However, she dropped off all of the appropriate forms and was assured that a Ms. Perez would call her when her taxes were completed. My mom was trying to get these taxes done as soon as possible, as I need her tax information for my taxes. She had waited for the phone call from Ms. Perez through that evening until the next day, when she called and found out that this woman had not only not done her taxes, but failed to contact her to let her know that this was the case. Now I am at risk of not completing my taxes. We might have had a chance of salvaging the situation had Ms. Perez contacted my mother to let her know that she would not, in fact, be doing her taxes. I had a good experience when I filed here earlier this year. Therefore, I called to schedule an appointment for my son. He was scheduled at 11a.m. For a Phone call appointment . I got a text confirmation too. No one called him. I called them at noon and they said they mixed his appointment. They took a walk in instead of my son by mistake. He said he would call him now. Two pm came and no one called. I called again and spoke to Emily, she said the office is not picking up the phone and she would relay the message. I asked if I could speak to a manager and she said she had to wait for the office to get back to her. I never got a call back from anyone. read more

I have been regular customer of H&R Block for past 4 years, I filed taxes at San Leandro and Walnut Creek location and never had any trouble filing taxes or communicating with anybody at branch. I went to concord office to file for taxes in March 2022. When I checked the return status it said return is deposited in my account by IRS but I didn't receive anything. I called this office to figure out if they had my account number right and refund is returned to right account. First time a man picks up and tells me long story that IRS is behind in sending refund and also says someone is going to give me call regarding my refund. I don't receive any call for next couple weeks. Then I call again and same answer the lady gives me and says IRS is behind and someone is going to call me. No call at all. Third time it's gets really funky. I call and talk to lady and she started searching me in system and couldn't find, she hung up. Three times I call back and she hung up for same reason simply because she took the name wrong and couldn't find me so she thinks hanging up is best option in that scenario. Then fourth time I request her to not hung up on me while talking and she doesn't say anything. Then she finds me in system and started listening to my problem. She takes my routing number and account number and I thought she was verifying it but no she just noted all personal information and tells me same thing that manager is going to call, but no call from anyone. I also tell her that the check to pay fee for services submitted is not cashed by the office yet and may be because my account number is taken wrong. IRS is not delayed in my case, they submitted the refund but not in my account. I have never received such kind of communication before. It's total loss of my efforts and energy and I still have not received the refund although the website says my refund is sent to the account and after contacting this office multiple times and not getting someone look into matter I will have to go through legal route. Please avoid this office at any cost and go to any other H&R branch if possible. People here are rude and ignorant. The whole point of paying that high fee is to have smooth process. It has been a nightmare for me right now and even though I am long time customer of H&R Block I think I will have to rethink about it next year. read more

I had a terrible experience in Danville and called this office and talked with Glenn and he was eager to help me with my problem after I was told by Bob in Danville to go somewhere else and get my taxes done on April 18th after making 4 phone calls and leaving messages, never got a call back and he had all my paperwork for 10 days and never started them. I couldn't get in contact with other tax professionals, so I made an appointment at this office. Shelley (manager) told me that my fee would be really high and asked to look at my documents & application to see if she could spot the problem. She verified that I had done it correctly and even spotted something I forgot to input. I bring in my 1040, my stockholder documents in case of capital gains tax, my military tax forms for the National Guard and my unemployment forms (been a rough year). I present everything in an organized manner to the tax specialist and she had no clue as to what to do and how to enter it all into the system. By the time she was done, she did her best to communicate to me (didn't speak fluent English) that I owe over $600 to the IRS. Eek! We bought a house last year because of the "tax break" we're supposed to get for this year's filing. Husband started turbo tax at home and ended up owing $5k in taxes. I thought, "he must be doing something wrong" so I suggested to get it done by H&R, if affordable. I sent him to H&R block while I went to spend time with family. Hours later, I got a text from him saying H&R Block charged us over $400 to file our taxes and we now owe $17K in taxes! What the heck!!!!! We don't make a lot of money, we have 2 dependents and purchased a house last year to have a "tax break!" What just happened?! I am soooo stressed out right now! Eeeeeekkkkk!
