Jeffery Rondini is very rude. I called his office explaining I was trying to upload my father's taxes to the portal. I simply followed all instructions to register for an account. The next step was to wait, to receive an email with further instructions. I never received the email, so I decided to call. He was rude from the start. I simply told him sir I did everything I was suppose to do. He was very adamant that I had to a mistake which I didn't. He didn't even try to look into the problem or see who I was filling for. As a first-time tax filer--recently purchasing a condo and managing student loans--I reached out to a local professional service to ensure my taxes were filed correctly. I chose Mt. Diablo Tax Pros because I support local businesses and had seen positive reviews online. During my consultation with Jeff Rondini, I inquired about the firm's experience with issues related to homeownership and student loans. However, I felt that the questions were posed in a condescending manner. When I mentioned that I was a recent homeowner, I was questioned about the legitimacy of my claim. Jeff then proceeded to ask detailed questions about rent, mortgage payments, property taxes, HOA fees, and even assumed I had children--an assumption that seemed to be based on background noise from a nearby coffee shop rather than my actual situation. While I understand that asking detailed questions is necessary to determine the proper filing status, the manner in which these questions were asked made me feel uncomfortable. I recognize that tax season is busy and that professionals may be under pressure, but I did not appreciate the customer service I received. read more

Beware: Unprofessional Tax "Expert" with Aggressive Behavior My experience with Jeff Rondini at Mt. Diablo Tax Pros was nothing short of a nightmare. Not only did he display a shocking lack of client service skills, but he also resorted to insulting and threatening behavior, making the entire process a harrowing ordeal. A direct quote from his email, "You're messing with the wrong Italian honey." Are those the words of a professional of 27 years. I've had better customer service at bars that I've gotten kicked out of... I asked a simple question via the Yelp app that apparently got the owner's panties in a bunch. Seriously, don't complain because Yelp monitors your response time, or because you can't respond to people's inquiries within the timeframe you're advertising (i.e., 1 hr). It's not my fault you were asleep - or God knows what else - when I asked a simple question. This interaction was enough for me to look elsewhere and waste 5 minutes of my life writing this review. Contacted Jeff to do my taxes one more time since I moved out of state. I figured it would be the easiest way to do it since I sold my house. I was completely wrong. First I noticed that I would send emails with the requested information that somehow were either lost or not read, then there was the complete mess with the payment. He requested that I pay using Venmo or Zelle, both of which I do not use. I use Paypal mainly and prefer not to have my information on several different sites. I offered to pay over the phone with a credit card and was told I would be charged a $35 fee. Feeling I had no other choice I made a Venmo account to pay for this transaction and contacted my bank to cancel the check. After completing this transaction, I was told "Next time, don't lie about sending money" and then accused of putting my "file in a constant state of delay this year". Finally adding that he was "glad to be done with it". I have never dealt with someone so unprofessional and insulting. read more

I can't say enough good things about Jeff and Meg. They are extremely responsive and were willing to take myself and my partner on as clients even though the schedule was fully booked. We moved to California partway through the tax year, had a recent property purchase, military retirement, incomes from multiple states, and Jeff navigated all of it for us and answered all our questions. When I later received a notice from the Franchise Tax Board and reached out for help, Jeff reviewed it and helped me figure out how to resolve the issue. We will definitely be using Jeff as our tax preparation service going forward. Would not recommend Jeff Rondini. Not only arrogant but condescending. Moreover, insulting for inattentiveness as by all indications he didn't read what I had written and documentation provided. My tax refund was reduced by a penalty. Requested payment of the difference since I have never had any penalties and always pay on time for what tax preparer tells me. I was met with blame that it was my fault and with indications that what I had written and provided to him were totally ignored. Jeff's response was an offer to reduce tax prep fee next year. The amount was not huge but the lack of integrity and admission is huge. read more

My husband and I just moved to Contra Costa county and we had a lot going on, so taxes fell to the bottom of our priorities.
