H&R hype-- Sharon Russell did our taxes and kept us informed. I believe we had to make at least two trips, if not three. I thought the charges for tax prep were rather high, considering they're not CPA's. Well, we owed some money on Federal and we paid the amount in March. I did get a letter from the IRS saying that we owed them additional taxes in June of this year. I emailed Sharon, she had assured us that she checks her email daily and the office is open 363 days a year. It took about six days for a response or acknowledgement by email. We had to copy the request for payment from the IRS and bring to the office-- slip it under the door because no one was there. Sharon said to send front and back of cancelled check back to IRS. Well, on the H&R paperwork you pay IRS online and have a confirmation number but there is no address. I called the IRS and was told to pay taxes with PRIMARY taxpayer's Social Security Number. It doesn't say that on the H&R block paper work. Nor did Sharon say anything about that, nor is that information on the IRS website. Even though the IRS has both Social Security numbers and we filed jointly-- IRS didn't apply to our tax return.. But, if you expect help after the fact with H&R Block its slim pickings. read more

As the years went on Laura's competency and follow through declined, always an excuse. My taxes had mistakes and I would often get letters from the IRS with fees due to these mistakes. Communication with Laura has never been the best but recently it has been absolutely horrible. Although Laura has had my tax info for months, my very simple taxes were never filed on time this year, only an extension. After trying to get ahold of Laura for weeks and calmly lamenting my frustrations via email about simply completing my taxes on time, Laura said to find someone else to prepare my taxes...... So I guess if you're reading this, that is my advice to you as well. AVOID LAURA MEYERS IHRMAN ACCOUNTING AT ALL COSTS OR YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

He did not disclose that he didn't have Quickbooks, which any professional accountant should have. He then charged me to recreate Quickbooks in Excel, which cost double what my previous years accounting prep cost. Don't recommend him at all.
