This review is not so much for h&r block as it is for Yoshi, who happens to work at this H & R block. I had 2 other preparers on different occasions do my taxes and most of them would rate at around 3 - 3.5 stars, until - i was someones first client, and she did HORRIBLE job. Yoshi however redid my taxes with the professionalism that i've come to take for granted. If this review was for Yoshikazu Kimura it would be a solid 5 star but its for the whole place so its only 4. This office has no professionalism. I'm sorry to have to include the whole office, but 3 people that I have spoken to so far (different occasions) had no customer service skills. John He, the one that answered as a receptionist, had no phone mannerisms for the company. It's a shame. John didnt offer any help at all. I had to walk him through things he should have been asking me to better assist me. I originally called to speak with Brian Cody (office manager) because he double charged my credit card. I asked for Brian Cody's manager, and he says the manager's name is Ray Davis. I told this John He guy to take my number down a.d have Ray Davis call me. Now I will just sit and wait to see if John followed my instructions. Smh. read more

Seems like they're pretty packed on Saturdays, but that's expected considering most people are off during the weekends. Despite that, however, we were able to book an appointment on the same day so that we wouldn't have an incredibly long waiting time (but it's honestly best to just make an appointment ahead of time). Anyway, here's where my gripe with this place begins: we showed up and checked-in close to 20 min before our appointed time and assumed there wouldn't be any issues meeting with one of the employees to start on our taxes. 5 min before our appointment, we noticed 2-3 couples who walked in 5-10 min after us getting taken in before us, and i thought, "hmm, well, they must have scheduled an appointment around the same time; no big." 5 minutes pass, and i notice the lady at the desk frequently turning her head and checking her screen, possibly because she's noticed that we've been sitting for quite some time without anyone calling us to get started. Next thing you know, 10 min, and then 15 min pass, and i'm starting to get irritated because the lady at the desk clearly checked us in, confirming our appointment by asking us for our name, etc. So I finally decided to take it upon myself (which i shouldn't have) to ask whether we were going to be seen or not, and she goes, "oh, i thought you guys were a no show!" Trying to act all personable, she escorted us to the employee i apparently made an appointment with, but this was after she looked at her screen a few more times... I don't know who she's trying to fool, acting like she's so busy and engrossed in her job, when earlier i saw her basically blow someone off for inquiring about applying to H&R. She must have been worried that someone wanted to take her job and actually work instead of playing office. The employee who took us in looked just as bewildered as I did (even though she called to ask where I was at shortly before our appointment, and I told her we were in the building already waiting). Apparently, saying "i'm in the waiting area" isn't enough, and you have to spell out to them that you would like to begin your appointment. Overall, they were nice, but the experience made me feel like i was dealing with a bit of incompetence, or just people who are too comfortable in their position to be performing at a satisfactory level. I remember at the end she said she hopes to see us next year, but after that price and that waiting time? girl bye. read more

What a bunch of dimwits. I get a call on a Friday at 8PM to let me know that the appointment a day an a half away is canceled. Turns out, it's EASTER SUNDAY and every single H&R in the country is closed on the holiday. I wish I read the reviews before I went to this place. It's the week before taxes are due and all of the times I am able to come in are booked. This is why I called ahead and booked an appointment. Why didn't the dimwit booking the appointments have a clue that the offices were closed? WTF?! With much effort, we find a time that I can squeeze into my already full schedule. I only needed to fill in line on the return and sign the paper work. BUT when my appointment rolls around, Miriam keeps me waiting 45 mins while she continues to work with the woman who had the appointment scheduled an hour prior to my appointment. Again, we reschedule, because I had another commitment and couldn't sit around and wait. So the office asks me to leave the document with my IRA contribution information on it to pass along to Miriam. When I met with her to finish my tax documents, the IRA paperwork I gave to the office manager was lost. Here are the reasons I will not go back: 1. Poor language skills 2. Holy Shi_t where do I begin? First they had my appointment time wrong. Then they lost my paperwork. Then the Tax preparer named "Miriam" told me I couldn't do my taxes with out a 1099c form for a certain dept that I have. In her words. "without that form you cant do your taxes" Bulllsh_T I just talked to another tax preparer and they said you don't need the certain form to file. It's because of HR block in DC that Im filing late for the first time in my life. I've been going there 3 yrs in a row and I can't believe they pull this shi_T. Anyway, they lost my business for good. If I could give a lower score I would. Be warned they are incompetent. read more

Went here to do my taxes. I will say this yoshi is amazing as far as being a CPA & handling your taxes. But when it came time to finish he wasn't competent enough to know how to load & start a printer & I had to wait a extra 30 mins just sign & leave. I don't understand how someone becomes a certified CPA but isn't smart enough to load & start a printer. read more

Had an appointment. Arrived 10 minutes before appointment. Waited 12-15 minutes beyond my appointment while at least three people kept walking back and forth chatting with their coworkers not assisting me or even acknowledging my presence! Just blank stares. To top that off, I was the only one waiting to be helped!! Did they think I was just sitting there to hang out?! Worst experience at an H & R Block EVER!!!! So unprofessional. read more
