I'd give them negative stars if I could. For what you'd pay a real CPA, they're basically using Turbo Tax while you sit there. I was actually given only the signature page to sign of their Client Service Agreement, when I asked the preparer played dumb saying it was all there even though the first 2 pages were obviously missing since the bullet list started with #7... The worst part, they lost my tax documents!!!! HR Blocks exact response, "I know I folded them and put them at the front. Not sure what happened." So who knows who has my tax documents, it's obviously not an issue for HR Block. read more

Last year was the first time in 30 years that my wife and I needed tax preparation help. The reason was because my mother in law passed and the way her estate had been set up for inheritance distribution. It had been set up as an LLC. The accountant for the estate didn't get the tax docs sent to the family members until late March 2023. We made an appointment with H&R Block in Dawsonville GA but because it was the height of tax season we weren't able to get an appointment until the first week in April. I don't remember the name of the first "tax professional" we saw but she said she was unqualified to do taxes that involved an LLC. She made an appointment to see a different "professional" named Michael Y. After consulting Google for instruction ( which I could have done) he made an appointment for us to see a person named Cherry. We weren't able to see her until a few days after the tax deadline for 2023 again due to their schedule. Cherry successfully prepared our taxes but was only partially successful in filing them.Our state tax payment was almost immediately withdrawn from the bank but our federal taxes never were. Once I got in touch with the IRS they told me that our return hadn't been filed. I contacted Cherry again, went in for another appointment but she was unable to provide an explanation. She made me another copy of our return and I mailed the IRS a check. She also processed a refund of the tax prep fees we paid. She told me that once the IRS notice of penalties and fees was received to bring it in and H&R Block would refund that as well. I did so. This branch of H&R Block is only open 2 days per week in the off season for taxes ( Tuesday and Saturday). After not receiving our refunds for 6 weeks, I tried to call but nobody at the local office ever answered the phone. I went in on a Saturday and Michael Y was working. He blew me off completely saying he was expecting somebody for an appointment. There was NOBODY else in the office at the time. He gave me the phone number for his regional manager Robert E. I called Robert and he apologized for the treatment I had received from Michael. He also set an appointment for me to meet with yet another professional named Rebecca W. She again processed our refunds and provided me with her cell number to call if problems arose. Another 6 weeks passed without receiving our refunds ( which totaled a little short of $900.00). I called Rebecca and was told that she would look into it. She called me back and told me that they were being processed. A few more weeks passed without receiving our refunds. I tried to call Rebecca but she had blocked my number. I left Robert a few voicemails but never got a return call. 10 months later, we still haven't received our refunds. Im sorry to even write this. But they have no clue what they are doing when it comes to out of state taxes. Do not bring your stuff here if you in this situation. You will be charged a-lot and your tax refund will be calculated wrong. Very disappointed first time trying to get our taxes figured out. read more

So these people have proven that they really don't care about their customers. I made an appt to have a 15 min consultation with a rep. I arrived wasn't greeted at all and kept waiting for 30 min beyond my appt time. Then they were like who are you again and I reviewed all my info with her. She said to email her some additional info and she would have the return done by Friday. Friday came and went - nothing so I called mid week and had to wait a full day to get a (emailed!) response when I left my phone number. She said it would be dont that Friday. Was it - nope! I hear nothing else until the filling week and they ask for my fiancés if and as card. Um if that was needed that should have been communicated plus he filed when hr block last year. So basically hr block it's on to not communicate, not deliver on time? No thank you! read more

Pricing was not upfront. We were going to be charged over $500 for a return that cost us only $150 with our service in another town last year. We were in shock! We finally asked what we could do to just get our paperwork back and walk out. $50 well spent. 2 hours on Turbo Tax later and I'm done for $160. What a complete rip off! read more

After answering all the questions we were informed that we would need to write checks to pay Georgia for $2000 and Federal $7,000. We commented several times that there was no way this was correct. One time the rude response from the so called tax expert was "its just simple math" . He would not listen! Even emailed the tax prepare the work sheets and he never responded. Using the same information provided to HR Block 2 different tax estimators owing $0 to Federal and getting a refund from Georgia. Finally did taxes on Turbo tax and we owe nothing to Federal and will get a refund from GA. HR block was going to cost us big $$$$. The so called tax specialist clearly was not trained on the software and we were going to pay for his lack of training. read more
