Though Brian and team put together a quality tax filing, their charges were extreme. Brian provided a non-binding estimate prior to selecting Berry and Associates which was in line with national averages. I agreed to pay an hourly price for time spent. The resulting charge was double the initially discussed cost. When I asked him why he did not notify me when the previous cost estimate was exceeded, no substantive explanation was given. Previous tax prep had cost ~$150... I was quoted, and expected, a 4-5x cost increase due to a more complicated filing (two states and a rental property sale). Costs were closer to the 10x mark. If you do select Brian S. Berry and Associates, do not agree go an hourly rate and time spent contract. GET AN "NOT TO EXCEED" ESTIMATE FOR THE TOTAL WORK TO BE COMPLETED.
