Having started our own business this prior year, I thought it be wise to have our taxes done by a (professional ??) We can all laugh now. I certainly would have been better off doing them myself. $300 for tax prep = seems pretty fair to me ( of course if everything was done accurately) I understand people may be busy but I can and have done these taxes within 1 working day. ( actually more like 6 hours) Let me reiterate: We have started a business this past year but have done self-employed taxes for 5 years now, I have done all the taxes prior myself. So I know what deductions and credits are, I simply wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything this year. With that being said, I have spreadsheets with all purchases and everything organized by month and then added up into a totals slot. I finally get a call the day before taxes are due telling me they are done. WAIT!!!! They are done???? Never did I sit down and talk with them other than the 5 mins when I dropped off the paperwork. Never did they call or email me asking ANY questions. This is absolutely absurd to me. Well if my spreadsheets were that organized and perfect then I suppose there wouldn't be any questions to ask.... EXCEPT: ( the most important thing to self-employed) questions and suggestions on things I'd be using in my business that could be deducted. They didn't give 1 hoot to try to help me to save money. They didn't even suggest anything for the next year to be aware of. UNACCEPTABLE. On top of that I certainly made sure to look over all their paperwork. YES what did I find? Missing deductions and a few mistakes and wrong placement of items. REALLY????argggg Funny thing is when I told them about it they said my paperwork wasn't organized very well and they had no idea I had that for a deduction. So if they claim my paperwork wasn't organized ( truly it was organized pretty well, at least a 7 or 8 out of 10) why wasn't there a call, email, or sit down meeting where we could discuss? UNACCEPTABLE!! All in all I paid $300 to basically do the taxes myself, as I certainly had to go over everything on my own the day taxes were due. OH yes one more thing... the date today is 6/7. We all know taxes are due on 4/15 or 4/17 (whatever is was) So because they failed to get my taxes correct they filed an extension so they can fix them. Well they are still not done and have not been sent in. I understand people can be busy but almost 2 months?? This tells me they don't care or haven't had the time?? Meaning there was that many people in this small town who's taxes they messed up and needed to file extensions for? This business doesn't even deserve 1 star. Utterly disappointing. PLEASE don't waste your time not getting deductions, service, and help you deserve. Go somewhere else

Turns…read moreout my taxes are very simple to do and Tax Plus did everything they could to make it seem more complicated--took their time to finish (were obviously dishonest about how long it really takes), charged $$ on top of their fee for each and every form they print out, have everyone come back in to sign in person. I have never done my taxes myself, and couldn't be bothered. I finally had my taxes done elsewhere and my fee was 1/10th of the fee I was charged at Tax Plus. Yup! Tax Plus just added a zero at the end of their fee for laughs I suppose, after they saw the refund I was getting. It took my new preparer 45 minutes to file, and she did them while I waited. I was woefully uninformed, but also taken advantage of. Carol and Tax Plus are without conscience.
