I was upset and they tried scheduling me with someone else. I'm glad I didn't schedule because luckily I found Kristen's new office through a family member. Her new office is awesome ! My experiences with this HR Block location have been absolutely fantastic all 3 - 4 years I have gone. The two previous years I had gone, my tax preparer was Kathleen. I was disappointed to find out that she is no longer with the company. That disappointment didn't last long, however. My tax appointment was on January 30th @ 6:00pm. As soon as I walked in the door, the woman at the desk greeted me with a warm smile. She was very sweet and kind and offered me coffee, tea, water or cookies while I waited. Fortunately, I didn't have long to wait. I gladly accepted the coffee and by the time I was done making a cup, my tax preparer was ready. My tax preparer this year was Andrew. He was very kind, friendly and helpful. It hardly felt like doing my taxes. He walked me through everything while we chatted about life, etc. I felt so welcome and at home. It took about an hour but it didn't feel like an hour. Not only did I leave feeling like I understood everything and had all my questions answered, I left totally satisfied with my experience as a whole. This office is a true example of outstanding customer service. Doing my taxes is so simple and easy there. E-file, refund deposited onto an Emerald card, a website/app where I can see all of my tax paperwork from any year, check the status of my refund, and see my Emerald card balance, statements, etc, all with just a few clicks. Everything is fast, simple and easy. My taxes are pretty simple and easy themselves, so I really could do it for free online, but I would rather pay a small fee for everything I get when using HR Block. My taxes are explained so that I understand, my refund gets loaded onto a prepaid card, I can check any of my tax or card info online or on the app, and the people working at the office were beyond nice and cool. This is the experience I wish of would get everywhere else, and it's while doing my taxes of all things! The smile on my face when I left wasn't only because I was getting a refund, it was because I actually enjoyed having my taxes done. Big thanks to Andrew, and the sweet lady working the front desk (didn't catch her name)! I would recommend HR Block, and the Marina branch especially, to anyone needing to do their taxes. My taxes always cost me $40-60 to do in the past. Over $400 for less than a couple hours of work at H&R this year. Avoid if possible. Total rip off unless you have no options. The service provided was good, but the price charged is unreasonable and unfair. read more

i write this review for the tax person Lupe R. She is the person to go to at this station. She's smart and courteous and explains the process so you're not just sitting and waiting while someone pores through your numbers. Definitely recommend her. They also have tea/coffee, cookies, and some bowl of candy out for people too. read more

I go to Marina H&R Block every year just to have Lupe (Guadalupe Ruiz) do my taxes. Tax time each year is very stressful and a scary process, but Lupe always calms me and makes me feel at ease that I got everything covered dealing with the IRS. I am so appreciated for her making me feel confident every year that I got the best tax return possible and unafraid of the intimidating IRS. I have been going to this place for years. It was recommended to by a friend of mine. I've always been quite happy with service here. This year however, service was unacceptable. I made an appointment. When I arrived at said appointment I was told there was no appointment. Fine. Reluctantly, I left. I left a message for my tax preparer to call me when she had a slot that worked best for both of us (I work 8-5 every day. Weekends as well, because I am poor). Anyway, I digress. The message was never given to her... When I called the second time to make my appointment the woman (Janice) started to book it and lost it in the process 3 times. All within the same time span. I had to repeat myself various times (more than 2x the final time she made my appointment). While on the phone I heard the same thing happening to someone else in the background (they came to an appointment they thought they had made only to get there and find out it wasn't made and their tax preparer had already left). Fast forward to the next day and I receive a call from my tax preparer to tell me she was unable to contact me because my information was incorrect. I can honestly say I have had great experiences here with the staff but this year was such a miss for me. Will not be returning next year. Don't even know if I want to make it to my appointment. Chances are it probably wasn't made again. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Hopefully they'll have a more efficient staff when they realize they are losing business since their receptionists can't make a reservation. read more
