I've been working with Bobby and Cheri since 2017 - they are wonderful. They have saved me quite a bit of money and helped navigate some tricky once-in-a-lifetime (for me) situations. My first experience was Bobby calling me back (response time 1 day) in late Dec 2017 to give advice on some RSU sales. On that call, he saved me many times his fee in CA tax with a "hey, one more thing" - advice about Trump's SALT credit cancellation. That's been the theme: when you call Bobby and Cheri, they save you money. Bobby has consistently given great advice, and handled my taxes since I outgrew Turbotax. I am the typical tech worker: income, stock options / RSU, some investments and retirement accounts... they are definitely good at that - and probably other stuff as well. Straight up rude. I called them see to if I can make an appointment. I have simple 9-5 job so only W2. The person on the phone told me well we have a minimum fee and that would be out of your budget. You may not be comfortable with that. They just assume I won't be able to pay. Didn't even bother mentioning their minimum fee or what they offer that is so out of ordinary and pricey that a person won't be able to pay. This is discrimination just by my voice or accent you have decide that I'm a poor minimum wage W2 worker that who won't be able to pay your fees. There is no excuse for this behavior. read more

It is almost a miracle that I found B & R Accounting with extended deadline coming up. They were easy to deal with. I love their ability to upload documents. I have cryptocurrency trades and they advised me of ways to ease getting IRS forms filled. I was impressed that they were able to understand my last year's return; understand to carry overs and prepare a return that was patterned as if my retired CPA was involved. Their website says they do book keeping and reconcile accounts for small businesses... but when I called I was told they don't provide that. Why would you have that up as one of the service you provide if you don't actually do it? And I was told for personal tax return it would be minimum $950... really? For a simple W2 tax return you're going to charge almost a thousand dollars? Right now it takes our accounts maybe an hour to complete our return... so you want to charge $1000 an hour?? NOPE. Don't recommend this place unless you have extra money to spend. read more

I'm really disappointed in the customer service. I called and asked how much the consultation was. The front desk lady confirmed they are accepting new clients and said $300 was the consultation fee. I told her that was really pricey, is there a way to make sure the CPA is experienced in my specific tax situation first before paying all of that money? She asked what my situation was, and said she'd ask and follow up. She called back and said, "We aren't taking new clients". Thanks a lot. Would not recommend this place. read more

I hear people complain about their CPA or Accountant and the stress of dealing with them specially during the Tax season, but my experience has been very different from them. I was interested in having my individual income tax returns prepared by a professional tax service. Among those I contacted was B&R Accounting. My tax returns are fairly simple and straightforward, and I provided details (regarding my income, deductions, home ownership, etc.) to the woman who answered the phone so I could obtain an informed estimate of the fee B&R would charge. She said the AVERAGE fee to prepare an individual tax return is between $850 and $1,000. Not the high-end fee, but the average. Anything not customary would cost more. I contacted five other tax preparation firms and explained what I needed, described in the same manner as I did with B&R. Their fees for the same services ranged between $200 and $450. All five have Enrolled Agents on staff (which is reassuring), and two of the five companies serve a somewhat higher-end clientele. I'm aware that cost shouldn't be the only basis upon which a decision ought to be made to hire a tax professional. However, it certainly is one of them. And it truly is perplexing how B&R could justify fees that are anywhere from two to five times that of its competitors. I'll give the benefit of the doubt to B&R and the person who answered the phone. She certainly was courteous and might have simply misunderstood me and/or was new to the firm. Perhaps what I experienced was just an unfortunate one-time aberration. So I'll award two stars, instead of one, for this firm. Still, I think the discrepancy in fees is absolutely shocking. read more

I hired Bobby when I initially set up my corporation in California. I have absolutely no business education, and this was the best money I spent on the business! He advised me with how best to set up my corporate tax structure, how to pay myself, how to pay employees, what financial forms I needed at the end of the year (just 2), and advised me about business expenses. At the end of the year, I hired Bobby's team to do my taxes and I could not believe how quickly, efficiently, and accurately they were done. He sat down with me in person and went through my finances (those 2 forms) and advised on how/what to do for future tax filings based on my first year in 1 efficient hour. After he filed my taxes, I got a huge refund! I attribute that to the way he had my set up my business so there were no terrible surprises at tax time. This review is long over due. B&R accounting has been handling my finances for the past 9 years now. I trust my taxes with no one other than Bobby. What I love about B&R is that they make taxes easy. I have a lot going on and B&R just makes it look like a walk in the park. One year my husband recommended we "try" one of the big corporations and we sat with them for 1 hour and I finally walked out. With B&R I just send him all my documents and the only time I have to spend any time talking to them is a 5-10 minute phone call explaining the outcome. And since he has my bank account on file I don't have to lift a finger. In addition to taxes any other financial need I've had B&R has handled for me. Both of my home loans were done through B&R and they have pulled off the impossible before. In 9 years I have not had one negative experience with them.
